  • The Fascinations were a group of Detroit natives whose recording career happened when they met Fred Cash and Sam Gooden of the Impressions and eventually were signed to Curtis Mayfield's, Mayfield Records, label in 1966. Interestingly, while getting their start in Detroit, the original founding members were Shirley Walker and Martha Reeves. In addition, the group consisted of Fern Bledsoe, Joanne Boswell and Bernadine Boswell. Reeves left in 1960 for a job at Motown and the group stayed a foursome. Throughout the early 1960's, the Fascinations were a popular live act at clubs but it was the association with Mayfield that gave them their big break. Girls Are Out To Get You, was a charted hit in 1966 as well as, Say It Isn't So. By the time of this release titled, Hold On, in 1968, the Fascinations were on the way out and the group quit the music business in 1969.
