The table is lovely! To remove the grout from the mosaic I would advise to use some muriatic acid diluted with water, and just wipe off the extra coating with a sponge once it has dried (of course don't forget to wear gloves and face protection)

Another way to do cheap/easy faux mosaic is to cut up colored paper and mod podge them onto your object with a little space between them for 'grout' lines. Then add a couple of clear coats of polyurethane over the top.
Go to a thrift store and find dishes in the colors you like. Smash them up and make it. If your looking for a similar table go to Five Below if you don't have an IKEA close.
If you wanted to, you could also brush out the cotton cords on your tassels to make them even fringier! It’s time consuming but will add such a professional look!

I love the terrazzo pot idea. One of my sewing teachers always said “remember the 4 foot rule” any time were were frustrated with a not so perfect or different look than we expected. She said no one is going to have their nose an inch from your top stitching! This is certainly easier than doing any kind of tile and grout. A trick to doing a lot of beads whether small holes or big with any kind of yarn or embroidery flops material is to thread a long needle double thread and knotted, sew threw the end of the string and through your double thread to make it more secure use the needle and thread to go through the beads this works especially good if its a bit smaller hole and you know the string will go through but it’s would be too thick if you wrapped tape around it.
Drew: this really cute thing would look even better in terra-cotta. I’ll spray paint it Also Drew: I have a simple terra-cotta pot here I’ll just spray paint it real quick I love all diys

Great video! Maybe you can do a video on easy apartment diy hacks, for those of us buying a first home but don’t want to spend money on an interior designer. Like a diy feature wall for the living room tv console, how to upscale mirrors around the house, etc.

You mentioned, the spackle drying as you reached the middle. You can actually just rehydrate it by spraying some water over the area before it completely dries. Love your work!
Mosaic advice from a fellow mosaic artist 💖 -Regular white glue works for gluing down glass tiles (although I must say I am impressed you figured out the sparkle thing would work, cause very few beginners use something like that) -Sometimes it’s cheaper to buy materials from Home Depot rather than michaels. Mosaic is essentially just doing regular tile work. Regular glue and grout work just as fine as the stuff designed specifically for materials. -When working with grout, think about color theory and how dark and light play into it. If you pick a white grout, yes it looked good aesthetically with the blue tiles, but it also makes them visually appear farther apart. In this case I would’ve picked a brown or grey, to make them appear more uniform and closer together. -I’ve found that grout is best applied completely first, then wiped away in sections with a wet rag. Get a bucket of clean water and rinse the rag every time you wipe and it brings back a lot of grout. Don’t wait for the grout to dry, just find the in between moment between wet and dry. It’s usually a few minutes in, if mixed properly. -if you’re working with smooth glass, you can let grout dry up and it won’t stick to the surface. However, if you’re workin with a porous material, like rocks or beads, don’t use grout. It’s best to use the spackle mixed with the paint of a desired color. And work in sections, don’t apply it all at once. As you go placing them down, they can be easily spot cleaned. Mosaic is literally one of the best forms of craft and art out there, and I love seeing people enjoying stuff like that. It’s a process that is very accesible and easy to do, specially if you think of it as a simple tile work. Very happy to have seen this video showing this technique. The table looked beautiful and I’m sure you’ll mom will love it 💚
I love all these projects. I want to convert the table umbrella take into a fabulous twist for a regular umbrella for strolling in the sun on the Avenue. Smaller beads and scales down tassels of course.
