Jacob Albarado, had just sat down for a haircut when he received a horrifying message from his wife, Trisha, a fourth-grade teacher at the Uvalde, Texas, elementary school. “There’s an active shooter,” she wrote. “Help,” she sent before sending a chilling: “I love you.” He immediately leaped out of his seat, grabbed the barber’s shotgun and sped off toward Robb Elementary.
An off duty border patrol agent charged into the school while 19 police officers, already on the scene, stood outside. His wife and eight year old daughter were inside and he wasn’t wasting any time. He got his family to safety and then he went back in to find and stop the bad guy. Had he not rushed to the scene with his barbers shot gun how much worse would this have been
amazing!
i had not heard that story.
If true, this guy deserves the highest honors and a freakin movie. This also proves that this was not a protocol issue, since any one of those cops on site could have done the same thing. They were all waiting for someone else to go first.
so he was that off duty border patrol agent everyone talked about??? where is he and why is he not being interviewed? my guess is he was told to withhold his side of story, so that the 19 police officers who first arrived at the scene will not be questioned..
Someone from Uvalde said that the border patrol agents told the people that they do not want their pictures or names on social media or the news.
I have seen a news report showing the border patrol guys ball cap with a tear in it where a bullet from the murderer grazed his head before the hero shot and killed him.
The cops with the side arm, body armor and rifle feared for their life story again. It’s the same excuse. Now imagine the babies and the teachers in that room with the murderer getting gunned down one by one while the cops feared for their lives. Those cops should pay for the funeral cost, then quit and get out of Dodge.
Agreed. I still don’t understand how 19 officers (with rifles) stood in the hallway listening to the gunfire from inside the classroom… and not moving.
Then outside. I think I would have lost my mind if crowds of police (with rifles, with armor/vests, etc) told me that I couldn’t enter the building to try to save my child and neither could they… while gunfire erupts from inside.
@@YaYa-ke1zr they also heard children screaming.

This is an excellent proposal to have a higher authority take over the investigation. Every 911 call and every exact time location and position of every officer must be identified and verified. The officer’s (local, city, state or federal) who hesitated must be held fully accountable (fired, prosecuted demoted and or stripped of leadership duties).

SCOTUS ruled back in June of 2005 that "Police *Do Not* Have a Constitutional Duty to Protect Someone", with the case of 'Castle Rock v. Gonzales'. Seriously. No joke. The legislature and SCOTUS *could* reverse this position, along with reeling in the vastly broadened use of "Qualified Immunity". Just a thought...
AND it gets oh so much worse. The 2005 'Castle Rock v. Gonzales' ruling was used as justification in the 2013 'Lozito v. The City of New York' after a two day stabbing spree with multiple fatalities by criminal Maksim Gelman back in 2011 (which of course was a National News Story). Police were posted to a NY subway train *Specifically for the Potential Apprehension of Gelman* when he tried to enter the conductor's booth - speaking to the cops directly, and failing that, turned and attacked Lozito with the knife, stabbing him repeatedly. They stayed in the train conductor's section, watching through the window until AFTER the altercation to apprehend Gelman and then told Lozito that they 'got him' and 'you can get up now' as they departed the train leaving Lozito bleeding out on the floor. They took active shooter training. From the course material: "Officer’s first priority is to move in and confront the attacker. This may include bypassing the injured and not responding to cries for help from children." -- Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
DEVESTATION - I am truly sick over this horrific tragedy! I am furious when it is apparent a person in command absolutely failed to perform in the requirements of their position!!
I respectfully request that investigations be conducted thoroughly. Backgrounds must be reviewed to illicit past military experience, training records, and performance records of the scene commander and those 19 LEOs ordered to remain holding a safe static position outside the locked classroom’s doors. Something important may be revealed by such a study.
As a veteran US Marine SNCO, and retired police officer who served in three diverse police agencies including the NYPD’s Tactical Patrol Unit, there is no way I personally could have been capable of following what I would have perceived as such an awfully insane order to not do anything to “stop / terminate” the ongoing murders of captive helpless innocent school children behind a mere lock on a school classroom door!!!
Street cops, (not empty suits) particularly veterans from high crime urban environments, know what must be done to stop and neutralize deadly attacks. Running to engage an armed perp on a gun run job happens very often. All you think about is getting there to protect the others responding and to engage and stop / terminate the violent armed offender!
Having worked in smaller agencies one finds that the apparent potential for displays of procrastination, incompetent reasoning, cowardice and malfeasance are more problematic.
Further, those agencies are more likely to select a SRO for certain attributes which are apparently not indicative of a courageous LEO willing to challenge sudden lethal threats to students. Far too often assignment to a SRO detail was a gift to a particular MOS for the wrong reasons.
The PTSD and future chronic nightmares those at that horrific scene shall certainly sustain will be some measure of punitive consequence indeed.
That is way off the mark. As a USMC SNCO that has worked LE at the community, state, federal, and international level I ca. tell you your assessment of local LE agencies is completely false. Your assessment is an embarrassment. It you learned anything in the Corps and in LE that should have been that you NEVER second guess someone in the scene who has to make a split second decision. Outside that it’s clear the scene commander made a bad decision to have everyone hold but we do not have any idea what information he had when he made that decision. Zero. Any officer knows that after action and post incident investigations take months to complete yet you seem to be resolved in your opinion already. You have absolutist NO IDEA what information the officers in that hallway had. To proclaim that the order they received was somehow unlawful and they should have taken it upon themselves to enter the room then you are flat wrong. Every thing an officer dies is scrutinized at an unrealistic level. So they are bound to follow orders and have an oath to protect. I that moment they have to decide if they are going to break from a standing order and risk prison if they are wrong. Imagine if it was in fact what the scene commander believed. A barricaded suspect with hostages. Officers then go against orders, enter the room, and the suspect kills all the hostages. The media would be screaming oh no you should have waited abs negotiates and you should be charged criminal for each death. We absolutely do not know at all what info those officers had available. They absolutist should completely trust their leadership and instantly follow orders without question. I’m sure as a SNCO you wouldn’t issue orders abs then have a discussion about the orders being lawful and make sure everybody was comfortable before you insisted those orders be executed. So far the press release information has swung wildly from initially a shootout with the SRO to gain entry to oops a back door was propped open. How about we see how this plays out in the investigation?
Insulting smaller municipality agencies show only hubris and a total lack or respect.

I live in a very small rural town that had a lockdown/gunman scare a few years back. 19 patrol cars promptly responded and did nothing but park for about an hour and a half. The situation resolved itself, however, as it turned out that a hunter unfamiliar with the area had gotten lost and came out of the woods onto campus grounds. If it had indeed been an active shooter event, the assailant would have had enough time to eliminate everyone inside with his bare hands given the time between the first officer arriving on scene until the first officer entered the building.
