It was 1985 when my best friend and dance partner contracted AIDS. We really didn't understand what was going on or what would happen. There wasn't any real medications available except AZT, with horrific side effects. Within two years Clarence worsened and nobody knew what to do for him. Visiting him in the hospital in October 1988 I was so afraid to even touch him, but all he asked for was that I hold his hand. He died two days after my last visit. Remembering him and that time in my life, and all the sorrow and ignorance from long ago. R.I.P.

Some types of cancer like pancreatic cancer (99% DEATH RATE) are way more deadly than HIV. So you can live with HIV for decades but only 1 year (if you're lucky) with pancreatic cancer.
