Right on! I needed this video. I do my own brand, have a couple people I print for, and custom shirts for some people. I find myself struggling with pricing for the latter two
Thank you for the knowledge, much appreciated. I'm learning the hard way I think...here's why: I just watched one of your pricing videos and you talk about gang sheets for a cost of $2.00 per sheet with 4 prints meaning $0.50 per print. So is a blank cost you $3 and the print is $0.50 you're sub 4 bucks in cost. This leaves room for a ton of margin, I get it. Here's where I'm at...I'm not doing big orders, thought it would be clever to focus on small batch 10's and 20 unit jobs to build a rep. I was using some rando DTF shop from Etsy...turn time sucked and the more I learn, the more I realize the product sucked too; they just had me with pricing. So, now I'm back to Transfer Express and a 10x8 full color UC Max is coming out north of 10 bucks. I'm not doing the ~200+ units that gets the sweet pricing mentioned in your examples. That's leaving me at say $12.00 for a front print and $4.00 for a blank...tripling that make it a $48 piece. I wouldn't pay it, neither would they. I need help and advice. What's the best way to navigate this based on your experience...or the experience of anyone reading this.?
I doubt you remember me from an old comment but I’ve been watching your videos since like 2015 16 at the latest and I just wanna say thank you for still doing what you’re doing and when I *finally* start my clothing brand you’ll be a huge reason continue to be blessed and blessings others you’re really the shit I hope you know that And best believe I gotta send you a gift basket or some shit when I blow up💪🏾 lol appreciate you💯

Yo Brandoh on one of your last live chats you had answered a couple of questions with some really good info is there a way to access the video to get the info . I had saved the vid to watch later but shows up private.
yes. all live streams can be found on my Patreon. link is in the bio. the main reason i dont upload them here is the live sessions are driven by the viewers. if people dont tune in to ask the questions and just wait to wAtch the play back, there will be no questions to answer live hahaha.
Great post. Thank you. I'm an artist. I've been asked to do art for a friend who has started an online hat and t-shirt distribution Co. How should I base my fee for the art that I provide him?
not for free. you ahouldnt have to eat the cost of shipping just to get people to shop with you. make sure you get all your money! the way some companies offer free shippinng is they build the shipping cost into the retail price. so you still end up paying for shipping. say you want $15 for your shirt but shipping cost $6. price your shirt at $21 and say "free shipping"
if your askin about decal vinyl for stickers, yes you need to buy the transfer tape or carrier tape or backing tape. if your askin about heat transfer vinyl for shirts, the clear sticky part is on the back of the vinyl already.
Thank you for answering. I just realized I didnt completely finish my question but you answered it .. only reason why I asked is I saw on Heattransferwarehouse some of the vinyl didnt come with the tack mask tape
no i dont. sorry. my pricing is based off of labor. i have no idea what your labor is worth and i would also be an asshole if i offered a pricing guide to people under valuing their labor. we all buy shirts for the same price and we all buy vinyl and transfers for the same price. so you charge the customer for those materials and then charge your labor on top of that. what if it only takes me 10 minutes to design, cut, weed and press a shirt but it takes you 2 hours to complete. and i told you "for this job i would charge $6 for labor" and you go based off of my "price guide" and say im gona charge $6 cuz he charges $6 for this job. but now you just got paid $3 an hour for that 1 shirt. is that fair? no its not, i under valued your labor.
What price do you suggest if a shirt cost a average 16.45 to make? This is just for a personal brand. Majority of the shirts I print on average is $6.35 or more because of the different sizes they come in and I also add a 4x4 inch logo on the upper back neck. So my average price is about $16.45 to make
my blank shirts cost anywhere from $2.25-$3. XXL is like $5 now for me. plastisol transfer cost $1.50 a sheet at 100 sheets. i can gang up 4-5+ designs on one sheet. which brings my print cost down to like .38 a design. if i added a neck label and a 4x4 on the back maybe another .50 for. im into that shirt complete for under $4. using plastisol transfer gang sheets and a alstyle t shirt
i have no idea. hahaha thats something you gotta figure out on your own. i dont know your clientele, i dont know your production process, i dont know your work flow or work ethic, i dont know your main statement of work. i cant answer that for you. you gotta figure out what you wanna do, how you wanna do it, how you'll make money doing it, where to focus your time and energy and what you feel comfortable doing.

how is labor free? i dont know what your labor is worth. i cant tell you what to charge for labor cuz i have no idea what you value your time as. thats something you have to figure out
you hqve to ask yourself if your pricing is fair. also ask yourself if its worth it. there is no set price on jobs. you can be competitive with local shops around you but you also have to do whats best for you and your business. What if i said "$15 is wayy to expensive" then what? you gona lower your prices cuz i said so? nah fuck that. i dont know what your labor is worth. dont sell yourself short. KNOW WHAT YOUR TIME IS WORTH!
I ask the print shop near me for a price quote. 12 pcs. minimum T shirt for 5 colors for screen printing. and he give me the price of the Shirt a pc. $40.75 so the total for 12 pcs. $489.00 oh my lord
sounds about right. 5 color print, 5 different screens, only 12 shirts. thats alot of labor involved just to make 12 shirts. so your basically paying for somebody to coat, burn, wash out, register and set up 5 screens, load ink on all 5 screens and then only print 12 shirts. Your also paying for that same person to reclaim ink on 5 screens and wash and clean all 5 screens. gotta remember with screen printing, the set up and clean up is exactly the same if you print 1 shirt or 1,000 shirts. when it comes to any kind of printing, the kore you order the cheaper per piece it'll be. the less you order the more expensive per piece it'll be
the "triple my investment" method is keyyyy!
