    Indian music does not follow western scales. It is a unique system based on Indian classical music. It's futile trying to recognize the notes/ key.

  • @sanjoy94

    In the part where she goes up to the G#5, she isn’t off key because the run she did is based on a particular raga which has notes within notes so semitones and inflections within those semitones. They form quite discordant melodies so it may not fit the typical western scale per se. She is in fact known for her precision when it comes to pitch.

She started singing at 16 after training and that practice never ends now she's 36 YO. You can get this. And by the way your reactions are so pure no overacting no fake expressions pure reaction just keep it up❤️❤️❤️

    She is one of the best sopranos ever, classically trained (with one of the highest tesstituras that I've ever heard) that G#5 did actually goes up to a G#6 and I was waiting for you to say that but nonetheless great reaction coz of the notes you told side by side..gave the insight. Also she is the queen when it comes to precision I'm sure there must be a reason for her to go "FLAT" Wish I had more knowley on that... I'd also like to add she has one of the best vocal tones ever (my personal favorite) do react to her Berklee Ensemble of Mannipaaya and Aapki Nazron Ne Samjh... Will be waiting!
    When it comes to Shreya she is a Legend thr best singer of this Gen hands down! Her Agility, Precision, Volume Control, Tonality, Range,Effortlessness and Technique are almost. Unparalleled! Coz she was judged, taught and praised by the Greats themselves.

    This is a mix of 2 different songs, recorded in a STUDIO ( T-Series is a music producer ) and is part of a series of songs from various artistes in the Bollywood music. Riffs in terms of quarter notes or half notes or climbing to a higher note and dropping back to the current note in which the song is being sung is pretty much the norm in Indian music. Indian music has two schools - Hindustani Classical and Carnatic both have tons of literature on the web complete with their notes, melodies, variations and such that you can read up. It won't be a instant grasp for you, but more you read them more you will understand and see how they correlate to western notes, chords and styles

Other suggestions are Shilpa Rao (Raag Mala), Sonu Nigam (Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin), Maithili Thakur (she's a literal child but holy smokes what a skill. Her specialty is qawwali, which is a very difficult folk specialty of North India), and Kaushiki Chakraborty

    The Indian scale has more notes (16 between each two major notes) vs. the one flat or sharp of western music. You won't be able to follow if you limit yourself just to talk about a sharp or flat note. The Indian scale has many more notes - that's why some of hers may sound a little "off" to you.

    • @saikrishnamanoj
      @saikrishnamanoj 3 года назад +3

      True! But in this case she wasn’t trying to sing in a raga that goes beyond the 12 note system like malkauns. Also in Hindustani we almost never hold any notes that are usually away from the 12 note system. Those other micro tones come and go as inflections rather than full blown notes from what I’ve learnt from my guru. She was a tincy bit flat at the highest note and that’s ok. She is a queen anyway.

    • @saikrishnamanoj
      @saikrishnamanoj 3 года назад +4

      But the way he’s pointing to many more flats is incorrect. He probably needs to learn more about Indian scales.

    • @ramseyvoicestudio
      @ramseyvoicestudio  3 года назад +1

      It's perfectly normal for an accomplished singer to occasionally hit a little off note, doesn't detract from their immense talent

    • @sujatabose7983
      @sujatabose7983 3 года назад +8

      @@ramseyvoicestudio It's not off key though - it's a micro tone. That's what sai Krishna and I are saying about the difference between the Indian and western scales - to the western ear - some of the Indian micro-tones sound like they are off when - in fact - they are just notes that are not used in the western scale. I've seen many responses to this performance and everyone else has it keyed as a micro tone.

    Plz react to Aapki Nazron ne Samjha by Shreya at Berklee... Also Indian music has a lot of rifts and runs, crescendos and volume change within a sentence and this comes from the Raagas that they learn, thats why they have a good pitch accuracy

    • @ramseyvoicestudio
      @ramseyvoicestudio  3 года назад +1

      what are Raagas?

    • @user-uu4fz3hv8n
      @user-uu4fz3hv8n 3 года назад +6

      @@ramseyvoicestudio
      Ragas are the melodic framework thats designed using 7 notes!! There are hundreds of raaga designed for night time, day time, rain, love, places etc etc and these frameworks are used in songs that they sing!! They practice these musical framework and memorize these notes thats why many Indian/Pakistani singers have pitch accuracy.
      Just look up for "Types of Raagas" on youtube and u will know what exactly Raagas are

    • @ramseyvoicestudio
      @ramseyvoicestudio  3 года назад +2

      thanks, Historical

    • @nehayadav772
      @nehayadav772 2 года назад

      @@ramseyvoicestudio well ragas are more that just being scale, it’s an arrangement. Better to read on Viki or react on video on ‘what’s a raag’ on RUclips. They are foundation of Indian music. Original of ragas is pretty old, more than 2000BC, some have been added later. Overall there are thousands of ragas.
      You see that Indian music is uniquely melodic. The reason is ragas and different scale of ours from western music scale. Indian music scale contains microtones (as name given by Western musicians to understand Indian music). In fact, microtone word came in the context on Indian classical music. Before there were no such thing to be called in western music.

I have seen many Western people making mistake to analyse such songs through technical lenses only rather than feeling the song and melodious voice which is not present in a single song from western world..... may be they are yet to evolved much in that aspect.... That tone, notes you are referring to are secondary or not at all count when she is delivering utmost emotion through the way she is singing the song...

    It's pathetic the way he tries to understand the song.
    It's like reading "IF" poem by Rudyard Kipling and saying...
    Oohhh, he starting with word "if"
    Oohhh, "you" and "too" are rhyming
    Here, he is rhyming "lies" and "wise" ...etc.
    and missing the whole beauty and spirit of the poem.
    I got the same feeling of frustration and irritation, when he kept mentioning which note she is singing in.
    He is not even at the level, where he can understand the virtuosity of the singer.

    Please react to "Ik vaari" from T-Series mix tape season 2. You'll fall in love with the "guy in white shirt" (he's all over in the comment section.. lol).
    Anyway...you'll definitely enjoy the track. Please check it out.🙏
