So Hyang stated clearly a number of times on being coached by Seth Riggs in interviews. She stated in a TV interviews that she learned how to sing properly from Seth Riggs who coached on how to develop her voice, and went through vocal exercises with her, when she was in the States. Entirely Truthful statement. AND it was important enough to her that she has mentioned it a number of times in TV interviews. She also noted she learned to sing proper mixed voice with Seth Riggs. So Hyang absolutely credits Seth for the present quality of her singing. ALSO in her own lecture/presentation to a music class in Uni in Korea when asked she said that she did not sing with her voice, but sang with her breath. These things I have heard right from So Hyangs mouth.

Dimash is especially known for mixing pop with bel canto and ethnic elements, his vocal acrobatics and his wide range, and Sohyang is epecially known for her own style of pop music, her powerful 5th octave belts, and her nice, rounder sound. I sometimes wonder what's going on on the mind of people who compare totally different singers. I agree. I like them both though, subjectively. Objectively, Sohyang is already a star rated vocalist for her techniques. Although she wasn't at the beginning of her career, Sohyang worked hard. Give Dimash a few more years, he will iron out the notes where he currently strains, and he will widen his supported range, not just his overall range. Dimash has the potential and he's disciplined. I'm rooting for him. I just hope he doesn't follow the wrong path of many artists in the past who overworked themselves due to high demand, then neglected further development, or even regressed.

She knows and understands her voice more than you expect haha. She takes VERY VERY VERY good care of her voice. She even goes to the extent of not drinking coffee as she believes it's not good for her voice. She's like the perfect fusion of vocal coach and singer. She has a perfect understanding of the voice without losing that "singer quality". As we all know, vocal coaches have this signature "vocal coach" techniques, style and tone.

I think know that when arranged songs,they're arranged the song together with the broadcaster's arranger and her husband And song is completed by her final modification and directing the orchestra and chorus. (She is officially a lead vocal in the CCM band called POS and husband is drummer in same band.The purpose of her singing is charity activities and to comfort people, So she never contract with a any agency because she is concerned about her activities being restricted)

As someone with some musical theory knowledge, it's great to hear some actual analysis of her reharmonization. This is the first time I've heard a reactor/vocal coach actually get into the theory of what was changed, and I really appreciate it.
You absolutely need to hear more of her. This is one of my least favorite performances of hers, despite still being amazing. Her cover of Arirang Alone, which is a modern interpretation of a very old Korean folk song simply known as Arirang. The lyrics were rewritten to act as a metaphor for the pain caused by the partition of Korea and the longing for reunification, and the song is considered an unofficial national anthem. Her cover of Everyone is absolutely incredible. She's claimed it was the hardest song she's had to prepare for. It's a Korean gospel song that was originally released as a pop song. Considering the subject matter and Sohyang's story, I think the song really resonates with her, and you can really hear it in how she sings. I'd consider Everyone to be her absolute best performance of anything.

A few interesting facts I can think of currently about her is that years ago she worked with Seth Riggs the vocal coach of artists like Michael Jackson, Prince, Ray Charles, Madonna, Stevie Wonder and Barbara Streisand to learn how to use a mixed voice technique. Also after this, she was actually invited by Michael Bolton to perform with him at his concert in Seoul.

You absolutely need to hear more of her. This is one of my least favorite performances of hers, despite still being amazing. Her cover of Arirang Alone, which is a modern interpretation of a very old Korean folk song simply known as Arirang. The lyrics were rewritten to act as a metaphor for the pain caused by the partition of Korea and the longing for reunification, and the song is considered an unofficial national anthem.
Her cover of Everyone is absolutely incredible. She's claimed it was the hardest song she's had to prepare for. It's a Korean gospel song that was originally released as a pop song. Considering the subject matter and Sohyang's story, I think the song really resonates with her, and you can really hear it in how she sings. I'd consider Everyone to be her absolute best performance of anything.
Everything she does is by 100% design.. She knows exactly what she is doing every second.. i can see your appreciation though..
Welcome to Sohyang World. After the performance, Michael invited So-hyang to his concert and performed together. According to the Jan. 8 news report, Michael is currently planning a world tour with Sohyang.

Her performance of Everyone is a vocal marvel. You'd be delighted to analyse that performance! My favourite of hers is still Arirang Alone, but at this point all of her performances are my faves lol

Another great Korean singer that is often overlooked which is why I make an effort to mention her is Park Ki Young.
A few interesting facts I can think of currently about her is that years ago she worked with Seth Riggs the vocal coach of artists like Michael Jackson, Prince, Ray Charles, Madonna, Stevie Wonder and Barbara Streisand to learn how to use a mixed voice technique.
Also after this, she was actually invited by Michael Bolton to perform with him at his concert in Seoul.
