    One thing that I miss from Bob's radio days was the quick little recap that Bob and co-host would have after an interview. It was always interesting to get Bob's thoughts and insight on a matter after an interview, instead of ending the interview flat.
    Hopefully we can get some of that going forward.

    We love the dome! Do not even contemplate a new stadium. Living near London Ontario it's nice to know that after driving 2 hours to Toronto and booking a hotel, the game will not be rained out. It's in a great location, everything is there, hotels, restaurants, other attractions, it would be crazy to move. We like taking the train from Aldershot, getting off at the station and walking to the game. Perfect! never move.

    Here's the video! Great on a snowed in Monday. The SkyDome was truly neat when it came out; and in particular the dome being able to open and close. This is newsworthy to us in Canada now; however, it has been going on through the States in the past 10 plus years. The end of Dome's! Astrodome, MetroDome etc. What have been replacing the domes are fields that are more classic baseball of course with modern twists. The open baseball fields that have to deal with weather, smaller venues bring us closer together *non covid comment there * What strikes me curious though is if they go with this trend and try to bring classic baseball feeling back - its coming to a generation now that isn't getting classic baseball itself anymore. See what I mean?

  • @gfear24

    My question is where do they play if they're going to build a stadium on the site of the Dome? There's no room to build beside the Dome.

      I think the only way they can do it, is because there is some land just to the south of the dome, is they do it intervals. They would sort start the new stadium, and tear sections of the old one, and near the end, the new and old stadiums would almost conjoined. They did this in Cincinnati.

      @@luigit9321 I don’t understand, is your argument how long it will actually take ? Or if you think they should go a head with it or not?? To say athletes don’t care about playing on turf vs natural grass is ridiculous. This is going to happen weather people like or not. It’s not happening 10 year down the road. 5 years is what people close to the sources are saying so maybe 7 on the later end.

    Absolutely the worst idea ever. The Skydome/Rogers facility is all Toronto needs. You need a stadium capable of holding concerts. The idea of tearing the facility to allow more condos is STUPID. NOTHING BUT GREED.

  • @CaptureKing247
    @CaptureKing247 3 года назад

    Toronto has zero concerns about having a vibrant downtown core. However, there is no need to move the Jays all the way to Downsview. If they can figure out a way to start building south of the Dome, then they should go for it. It might even mean they have to finally bury the Gardiner. The question is, can they really build half of the stadium, then quickly demolish the Skydome and build the 2nd half of the new stadium in one off season?

    I would retrofit Roger's with a glass or polycarbonate roof to let more light in and put in real grass .. I would redo the whole lower bowl to be more like a traditional ballpark and reduce the number of seats to 45,000 fans with open concourses for fans to congregate .. I would make the lower bowl steeper like Scotiabank for a more intimate feel .. this with a retractable glass or polycarbonate roof would make it much better place to watch baseball short of tearing it down and rebuilding a new park for 2-3 billion and would take a lot less time to do .. the outside could also be updated with some modern cladding to get rid of that concrete look.. the view of the CN tower from inside is always impressive and will still look awesome with glass or polycarbonate roof when the dome is closed ..
    ...then use that saved money on free agents to win the AL East to pack the new RetroDome ..

  • @edwardbliss8931

    Instead of building a completely new stadium, why not just refurbish and update it? Give a nice paint job to all that drab gray splotchy concrete. Renovate the interior. It's cheaper and It'll look like a completely different stadium. There's just too much history there to tear it down.

    I just stumbled upon this channel and was immediately reminded that someone told me Bob was canned by the pin-heads at Sportsnet. I have no clue whether or not that's true, but it wouldn't surprise me. Spending billions of dollars to secure exclusive NHL hockey rights was a crazy idea that seemed to be motivated by ego rather than common sense. No one is going to watch a mid-January game between two teams to whom you don't give a second thought. Unless you're a scout, the idea that anyone would watch is cray cray. That brings me to Mike Wilner. I heard he was canned by Sportsnet and is heartbroken. Again, I don't know the detes, but since neither of you no longer have a horse in the race, it would be awesome to hear stories about the culture at Sportsnet. I also heard that Bob and Mike do not get along. If true, I can see why. Mike Wilner is one who does not suffer fools gladly; that was obvious to anyone who listened to Blue Jays talk. That show was comedy gold. Wilner is super smart and has a quick wit. That's not to say Bob is dumb -- far from it; I've been a fan since the Global days -- but I can easily see how their personalities would clash. All that being said, perhaps you guys can at least pretend to be friends for an hour or so and dish a little dirt. Fingers crossed!

    I have nothing against the Jay's having a baseball-only stadium. I do think a domed stadium is needed because of the weather you get in Toronto. The Skydome while a great building was trying to satisfy too many masters. It's too big for the CFL, too small for NFL, and missing some things that Jay's want. Whatever happens, I do not want any public money to be spent on it.

    I'm sorry to interrupt, but can we talk about Damien Cox? I've never understood why he came back to the show after taking one shit-kicking after another by resident bully boy. Honestly, it got to a point where I felt bad for the guy. He was just getting creamed by the school-yard bully before disappearing only to return sometime later. What happened in the interim and why did he come back? Did he undergo intense therapy? Did "Bobcat" say sorry? Their interactions were less severe when Cox came back, so something definitely changed. p.s. Note to all the alphas out there: Acting like an ass-hat and bullying your co-host is not funny at all.
