The problem is... the Lenses, & external Gear cost alot, i mean like the stabilizer, moment lenses with case, mic with a capable phone it just reaches the price point where you could buy a dslr.
I completely disagree with you. Because smartphone can shoot great quality. You’re right you could buy a DSLR. But if you think about it. It’s all about being creative and editing in the end.
You may not have a DSLR, but you will need a mobile phone. So instead of throwing another $1k - $2k on a dslr just on the camera alone, you might as well spend $1k to maximise the quality of your mobile phone.
I'm so happy I found Momentum. This is such an amazing opportunity for beginning film makers to enter this space without spending a ton of money on equipment. Also I love that most of these videos are educational. You should create a paid course or paid RUclips subscription which would take us behind the scenes of the awesome footage y'all create.
Very Smart Fellas. my first thought when approaching this project was getting some tips to start my mini film for your festival. Ya'll got it all under control
I’m trying to keep everything mobile using my iPad Pro and LumaFusion. Would love to see a tutorial on editing with LumaFusion. Love your videos and I did get your 18mm wide lens for Christmas. Amazing quality. Keep up the great work.
Happy to see that Moment has become so much more than just a lensmaker. You guys have probably done more contribution to the photography community than the big companies.
If you don’t want to have to buy something too expensive for gear you can use an Osmo. Or even an omso pocket Honestly such a good investment for me, it stabilizes the video so much
Super helpful videos guys. I’m a music producer in Vancouver about to film my first short by myself and I’ve been researching gear and tips and your page has helped lots!!
I’m sooooo new to this game and glad I found this channel but I clearly I have a long ways to go. Vlogging on a selfie stick with an iPhone 7+ thanks for all the tips here as I try to get better everyday
Thanks y'all! super helpful info on file structure. I always had issues with my files or particular vids not being found by the program. I checked the folder I made and found all my folders and the priemere elements associated files.. Keep em coming you guys rock!
could you please explain the file structure bit, honestly i've had quite a number of files go offline on me while using Premiere. In Simple terms, please?
Hey, whats up bro?!?! This file structure system is great. I cant tell you how many times I've been frustrated because premiere couldn't find the files associated with the project I was working on. But here's the deal, when you start a new project premiere automatically creates a location for your new project when you select new project here's an example of what is automatically created for me c:\users amhe\onedrive\emailattchment,,ect. So when you start a new project set up the file structure as laid out in the video . Then go into primere and create a new project name the project and the next field is the location field as i mentioned it will have a predetermined address there already. From there browse to the location you set up the file structure with the content you will be using in the project and thats it. As you can see with my example it was searching for my content in onedrive and it was frustrating because i didnt know why until i saw this video anyways hope this helped. Peace out
Awesome guys!!! Thank you so much for the tips. My biggest thing right now is getting organized. Love your other videos too. S/o from the original home of RUclips, San Mateo, Ca.
this was really helpful! i have to create a short film about schizophrenia and i was really struggling. thanks for your help. i might actually surprise my teacher for once!
This was really helpful. I am getting into this and this was the first video i saw ob the youtube search box, but yeah the idea of a long video is nice,
Hi I just ordered your anamorphic lens, and am going to start my first short in the next month. I have a question, would it be weird to have different lenses in one film, for example filming overall in anamorphic but having appropriate scenes in superfish. Would that make editing problamatic? Thanks
I cannot find the image capture app for some reason on iPhone. Can someone help me out? Also, great video. Super short, concise and still effective. Thanks guys.
Just ordered a case, wide lens and gimbal counterweight, can’t wait to get started! One of the things I love about shooting on my phone is being able to edit and upload on the same device. The only thing I can’t change on my phone is the thumbnail (I’m on vimeo), and I love it. Do you have any tips and tricks for editing on your phone, or do you always edit on a laptop? (Not just asking for advice from these charmers, if you have a good tip, I’d love to hear it. I’m about to switch from an iPhone 6 to a Samsung Galaxy S9, so Android advice is especially helpful for me personally!)
Which lens are you using at the 3:00 mark? Primarily looking to do two camera interview shots. iPhone for the close shot with shallow depth of field and a GoPro for the wider shot. So which is the lens you would recommend to get that look you have at 3:00?
Yes, guys! This was so helpful! Please make a video about the editing process too! I'm about to shoot a short film for the 1st time in ma life with a film group (I have no idea how :P) and this video helped a lot about organizing some stuff before shooting!
Bravo to everyone! Can you do a smart tutorial for action videos via smartphones or action cams? Some tips and angles to look badass maybe! Thanks for everything!
I literally can’t decide which moment lens to buy... If you had to choose one moment lens to shoot video which would you choose? I’m looking to shoot mini gym movies / small business promos videos... Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks 😊
I have questions. I have an iPhone 8 plus and can never get my footage to look good, even with Filmic Pro. When I import my footage into my editing software, it has a whole lot of noise in it. I tried lighting and it didn't make my footage look any better. Any tips on fixing this?
Now this is what I''m talkin bout! Tutorials from level 1 to level 10.... ! Moment should shoot all their RUclips videos with their Moment Lens's! Just sayiN!
Sibe Studios the anamorphic lens is coming in early October, haven’t used it yet unfortunately, I’ll let you know there what it’s like and I’ll probably do a video on it as well after I get it
Want to get started filming on my iPhone X. Really interested in the post production you were speaking of. But I’m on pc not Mac. Is there a way to transfer files from iPhone to pc as seamlessly as it looked on the Mac u were using?
*Notes* 1. Pre-production Script, goals, storyboarding, thoughts/ideas. No need to plan eveything to the last detail, but still have a somewhat plan 2. Gear Audio, exposure, lighting 3. Communicate idea You ain't alone on this ship, be specific, communicate with your crew, have nice relationships 4. Be flexible/adaptable It's not always going to be how you imagine it. Be open-minded, find solutions. 5. Post production Yeah, you gotta organize your shit. Redommented structure: -A folder of raw clips by day and camera, or by scene. -A folder of liveworks, which will have lots of folders, such as: GFX (graphics) SFX (sound effects) PROJECT MX (music) EXPORTS AE *This structure is great for Final Cut For transfering files from phone to PC: Android file transfer (for android users) AirDrop or Image capture (for iphone/mac users) Other apps mentioned: Musicbed nice music, you gotta pay though
Tips 1: Ask yourself: How is your story gonna stand out from whatever is available online already? 2: Have an outline of the scenes. 3: Get moment gear, shoot with post in mind, get good audio; good audio is 50% of the movie. 4: Don't compromise on your vision but stay away from exposition. 5: If you're not happy with the acting, shoot again. 6: Enjoy the process.
Yes, it's very very helpful. Just one question, taking videos does a lot of annoying sounds, wind blowing, and none including sounds to your video. How can you get rid of that? I need reply. Can you make another video for it?
hi just want to ask what do you call that mini monopad that you used when youre shooting youre skateboarding. its also shows on the beginning when tou introduce no. 2 for gear. thank you
Okay so I use a film editing software that is not mainstream should I go to Final Cut or adobe moving forward. Which one do you think will stand the test of time when it comes to versatility... Thanks
good questions. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. I think Premier Pro feels more professional but has more weird bugs. If you have a Mac and only want to spend a few hundred bucks then Final Cut is a great deal!
you should make a case for iPhones that has open at the bottom (like the apple ones) and that way i can connect a mic like Shure mv88 and a moment lens at the same time without using a gimbal.
I have one question..Please Answer 🙃 .. When I was editing my first short film, I was really emphasizing such a huge amount on color correction that it was making the footage look bad. Then I improved and now they look a lot more realistic than before..Color correction...How much should we use it in Indoor or outdoor footages ???
Hey I can't use moment lenses. They don't offer a case for my se and I could use the mounting plate, but I'm not to keen on the idea of glueing something to my phone. Even if I did use it, I wouldn't be able to use moment 2 lenses😞
If you could shoot a short film on any PHONE what device would you choose!? 📱
Pixel 2XL with Wide Moment
Google Pixel 2
And the iPhone X case still out of stock. I have to get this before Chinese New Year. Come on, Moment!
Razr
iPhone X I Moment Wide & Macro
1. Preproduction 2. Gear 3. Communicate idea 4. Be flexible/adaptable 5. Post - production
Thanks bro
This helps
Thnx.
These are some tremendously helpful tips 🎅🏾
Dope video!! The “secret folder 📂 structure tip” was BRILLIANT!! I swear.
U could buy a dslr, which then needs all the same accessories only more expensive and bigger. It's cheaper overall to go with a smartphone
You may not have a DSLR, but you will need a mobile phone. So instead of throwing another $1k - $2k on a dslr just on the camera alone, you might as well spend $1k to maximise the quality of your mobile phone.

Thanks for the tips guys, this will help on future projects!
Subbed :)
Very Smart Fellas. my first thought when approaching this project was getting some tips to start my mini film for your festival. Ya'll got it all under control
Wear green beanies!! That's what I'm missing lol
I’m trying to keep everything mobile using my iPad Pro and LumaFusion. Would love to see a tutorial on editing with LumaFusion. Love your videos and I did get your 18mm wide lens for Christmas. Amazing quality. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Rob - I'll look into that app!
Rob Gianelli LumaFusion is an amazing app. It’s a joy to work with, and I don’t even have an iPad 🤙
Hi! Do you film with your ipad too, if so do you use any other gear
Do you download your files to iPad pro from your phone?
Happy to see that Moment has become so much more than just a lensmaker. You guys have probably done more contribution to the photography community than the big companies.
Thanks so much! Means a lot :)
Love you guys. Also, used a Cinebloom filter on a shoot for the first time this month and it was MAGIC. Worth every penny X
If you don’t want to have to buy something too expensive for gear you can use an Osmo. Or even an omso pocket Honestly such a good investment for me, it stabilizes the video so much
You two are so fun!
Super helpful videos guys. I’m a music producer in Vancouver about to film my first short by myself and I’ve been researching gear and tips and your page has helped lots!!
Really helpful....Thank You friends ! 👌💐💐🎂🎂🎂

Guys...you're just amazing
Awesome guys!!! Thank you so much for the tips. My biggest thing right now is getting organized. Love your other videos too. S/o from the original home of RUclips, San Mateo, Ca.
You are great buddies! Love the way you are explaining.
💚
Thank you guys, very much appreciated!

Awesome tips, guys! I’ll be keeping them in mind for future shoots and RUclips vids of my own 👊🏻
Great info. Love to see a more in depth video on file management
Thanks for the great tips especially in the folder structure. Will use that for sure.

I was just about to ask that
Great tips. Thank you!!

I prefer the moment app rather than Filmic pro.... But I haven't seen the inbuilt EIS Stabilizer in Moment pro cam....
you guys earned a subscriber! awesome stuff
What's the best Moment lens should I buy if I'm shooting movies and shorts?
Thanks for your time, Alan

Are most of your videos shot on iPhone x? Or are you using dedicated cameras in these videos?
hey moment what do you recommend as a great tripod/stabilizer to use for shooting
Now this is what I''m talkin bout! Tutorials from level 1 to level 10.... !
Moment should shoot all their RUclips videos with their Moment Lens's! Just sayiN!
if you use post haste, you can make templates for it to automatically build this entire folder structure with one click.
You guys are pretty wicked gotta make my own short film, hopefully with my new anamorphic lenses I can
Sibe Studios the anamorphic lens is coming in early October, haven’t used it yet unfortunately, I’ll let you know there what it’s like and I’ll probably do a video on it as well after I get it
Love your products and videos but yall never have Vegas tips so I have to figure that out myself 🥺
Sony Vegas Pro

Not too sure, we will look into it
email your clips to yourself perhaps?
Number one thing of filmmaking to always remember. Everything changes and something comes up all the time
Really helpful! Hope the video for film editing comes soon! 👍🏻
Best of luck!!
Y’all should do this again some more
What application you can use to transfer files from your iPhone to a window 10 😅
May I ask what's the opening BGM? Where can I find it 🤔 Merry Christmas

A new iPhone X is costing about 400grand in naira 😑😥, big fan of your work though, I would try to get them soon. Love from Nigeria 💜
Very helpful. Thank you!
hi just want to ask what do you call that mini monopad that you used when youre shooting youre skateboarding. its also shows on the beginning when tou introduce no. 2 for gear. thank you
Is there a specific camera that needs to be used for making movies?
Not really, you can use almost all cameras out there

Hi is it a good idea to put this mark ® or © next to my name(watermark) that reflects at the corner of my video for short film competition? Is it advisable to even put my watermark?
