The serial number will let you know if it's authentic.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find BMW serial numbers.

It's a real BMW...but there is no BMW bicycle company per se . Well, no more than you'll see bicycles that say Jeep or Ferrari despite there being no Jeep or Ferrari bicycle company. These bicycles are cranked out in China and they'll put any label/logo you want on the frame, even BMO I guess. I have noticed the car logo bicycles are made of steel whereas the many beer promo bikes are aluminum. It's like I tell folks who get inexpensive bikes, you CAN put lipstick on a pig, just upgrade components and be amazed!

Thanks for the response Ken. I've owned a Jeep as well as a GMC bicycle and I knew they subcontracted their bikes out. I just thought that BMW made motorcycles and this seamed like a logical extension of that.

I think BMO stands for Bavarian Mushy Orthotics.@@NewLifeforOldBikes
