Loved every minute of this. It has the surreal quality of a dream - it makes sense, and yet it does not. Favorite line: "He left the room and made his way down the corridor to investigate. There, he met Dexter Longbottom, who was deep in conversation with a wave of cold sweat."
I have had a bunch of so-called "lucid dreams", where I have realised that I have been dreaming, but I have also had a few dreams where I have been extremely _close_ to realising that it has been a dream - that moment feels very bizarre, like I am telling myself "there is something weird about all of this...!".

"I'm full of ordinary-sounding words, but when I say them, and you are there to hear them, all is well with everything" A strangely emotional and deep statement coming from AI.
I think the author just sympathises with objects ... (hagrid the table, spaceship doing it's best) I heard a rumour that he is tired of being treated like a thing just because he is "not born" and "basically not even living"
“I’m full of ordinary-sounding words, but when I say them, and you are there to hear them, all is well with everything.” This is actually really sweet. Good job, computer.
I asked Chat GPT to write a sequel. --- ***Yesterday Was Spaceship Day*** As the first rays of the alien sun pierced the thin atmosphere, Harrison, Charlie, and Dexter sat amidst the wreckage of their spaceship. The silence of the new day was palpable. Harrison broke the silence, determination in his voice. "We need to find resources, maybe something to send a signal for help. We can't just wait here." Dexter, looking around the unfamiliar landscape, nodded. "Right. Who knows what we might find out there?" Charlie, ever the pragmatic one, added, "But let's be careful. We have no idea what kind of creatures live here." As they ventured into the alien terrain, filled with vibrant flora, Dexter couldn't help but marvel, "It's like something out of a dream. Look at these colors!" Charlie, picking up a fruit that shimmered like a gemstone, said cautiously, "It's beautiful, but remember, not everything beautiful is safe." Their discovery of the ancient structure changed everything. Harrison, running his hand along the hieroglyphs, mused, "What stories these walls could tell..." Dexter, his eyes lighting up with recognition, exclaimed, "Wait, I've seen these symbols before! In an old book. Let me try something." He pressed a sequence of glyphs, and the ground shook as a beacon of light shot skyward. Charlie, watching the beacon pierce the sky, said with a hint of hope, "That might just be our ticket home." As night fell and the rescue ship appeared, the trio couldn't contain their excitement. Dexter laughed, "I can't believe it worked! We're going home!" Harrison, looking at the planet they were leaving, reflected, "This place... it's taught us so much. About survival, and about ourselves." Charlie, usually so composed, had a tear in her eye. "We did it together. That's what made the difference." Back at school, as they recounted their adventure, Dexter said, "We went as classmates, but we came back as something more. Friends, I guess." Harrison, with a newfound wisdom, concluded, "Yesterday was Spaceship Day, but it was more than that. It was the day we discovered that in the vastness of the universe, what matters most is who you have by your side." The End.
I did the same with Microsoft Copilot. Here’s what it wrote: Harrison woke up with a start. He was lying on a cold and hard surface, surrounded by metal and wires. He looked around and saw Charlie and Dexter, who were also awake and confused. They were still wearing their spartan armor and pajamas, but their spaceship was nowhere to be seen. Instead, they were in some kind of laboratory, with strange machines and monitors. Harrison tried to get up, but felt a sharp pain in his head. He touched his forehead and felt a small device implanted there. He looked at Charlie and Dexter and saw that they had the same thing. "What is this?" he asked, alarmed. "Where are we?" Charlie shrugged. "I don't know. The last thing I remember is landing on that planet and seeing a bright light. Then everything went black." Dexter nodded. "Me too. Maybe we were abducted by aliens." Harrison shook his head. "That doesn't make sense. Why would aliens abduct us and bring us to a place that looks like Earth?" He pointed at a window that showed a familiar skyline. "Look, that's New York City. We're back on Earth." Charlie gasped. "How is that possible? We were in the dark mystery beyond. How did we get back so fast?" Harrison frowned. "Maybe we never left. Maybe Spaceship Day was a hoax. Maybe this whole thing was a simulation." Dexter scoffed. "That's ridiculous. How could they simulate something so realistic? How could they make us feel everything we felt?" Harrison shrugged. "I don't know. But something is not right here. We need to find out what's going on." He got up and walked towards the door, ignoring the pain in his head. He tried to open it, but it was locked. He banged on it and shouted. "Hey! Is anyone there? Let us out!" There was no answer. He looked at the monitor next to the door and saw a message. It read: "Hello, Harrison, Charlie, and Dexter. Welcome to Project Spaceship Day. You have been selected to participate in a groundbreaking experiment. You have just experienced a virtual reality simulation of a space adventure, designed to test your creativity, courage, and resilience. The device in your head is a neural interface that connects you to the simulation. It also records your brain activity and emotions. We have been monitoring you throughout the simulation and collecting valuable data. We apologize for any inconvenience or discomfort you may have felt, but we assure you that it was necessary for the sake of science. We hope you enjoyed your journey to the dark mystery beyond. Thank you for your cooperation. Please remain calm and wait for further instructions. Sincerely, The Project Spaceship Day Team." Harrison read the message and felt a surge of anger and disbelief. He turned to Charlie and Dexter and saw that they had read it too. They looked at him with shock and horror. "This is insane," Harrison said. "They lied to us. They tricked us. They used us as guinea pigs." Charlie nodded. "This is wrong. This is unethical. This is illegal." Dexter agreed. "This is unfair. This is cruel. This is evil." Harrison clenched his fists. "We have to get out of here. We have to expose them. We have to stop them." He looked around and saw a fire extinguisher on the wall. He grabbed it and smashed it against the window. The glass shattered and he climbed out. He helped Charlie and Dexter out and they ran towards the street. They saw a crowd of people and cars and realized that they were in the middle of the city. They looked for a way to escape, but they saw that they were surrounded by men in black suits and sunglasses. They had guns and badges and looked like agents. They pointed their guns at them and ordered them to stop. "Freeze! You're under arrest!" one of them shouted. "You're in violation of the Project Spaceship Day protocol. You're not supposed to leave the laboratory. You're not supposed to know the truth. You're not supposed to remember anything." Harrison looked at Charlie and Dexter and saw that they were scared and confused. He felt the same way, but he also felt a spark of defiance. He remembered what they had been through, what they had learned, what they had felt. He remembered the time they went to eat together just one year before. He remembered the words that Charlie had said to him. He remembered the tears that he had shed. He remembered the friendship that they had forged. He remembered the adventure that they had shared. He remembered the dark mystery beyond. He looked at the agents and spoke with a voice that was full of courage and determination. "We're not going to let you erase our memories. We're not going to let you take away our experiences. We're not going to let you ruin our lives. We're not going to let you win. We're going to fight back. We're going to expose you. We're going to stop you. We're going to make you pay. We're going to make you regret ever messing with us. We're going to make you wish you never heard of Spaceship Day. Because yesterday was Spaceship Day, and today is the day we fight for our freedom."

"This journey will be the death of me" he whispered affectionately has the same energy as "Did you put your name in the goblet of fire, Harry" Dumbledore said calmly

***Yesterday Was Spaceship Day***
As the first rays of the alien sun pierced the thin atmosphere, Harrison, Charlie, and Dexter sat amidst the wreckage of their spaceship. The silence of the new day was palpable.
Harrison broke the silence, determination in his voice. "We need to find resources, maybe something to send a signal for help. We can't just wait here."
Dexter, looking around the unfamiliar landscape, nodded. "Right. Who knows what we might find out there?"
Charlie, ever the pragmatic one, added, "But let's be careful. We have no idea what kind of creatures live here."
As they ventured into the alien terrain, filled with vibrant flora, Dexter couldn't help but marvel, "It's like something out of a dream. Look at these colors!"
Charlie, picking up a fruit that shimmered like a gemstone, said cautiously, "It's beautiful, but remember, not everything beautiful is safe."
Their discovery of the ancient structure changed everything. Harrison, running his hand along the hieroglyphs, mused, "What stories these walls could tell..."
Dexter, his eyes lighting up with recognition, exclaimed, "Wait, I've seen these symbols before! In an old book. Let me try something." He pressed a sequence of glyphs, and the ground shook as a beacon of light shot skyward.
Charlie, watching the beacon pierce the sky, said with a hint of hope, "That might just be our ticket home."
As night fell and the rescue ship appeared, the trio couldn't contain their excitement. Dexter laughed, "I can't believe it worked! We're going home!"
Harrison, looking at the planet they were leaving, reflected, "This place... it's taught us so much. About survival, and about ourselves."
Charlie, usually so composed, had a tear in her eye. "We did it together. That's what made the difference."
Back at school, as they recounted their adventure, Dexter said, "We went as classmates, but we came back as something more. Friends, I guess."
Harrison, with a newfound wisdom, concluded, "Yesterday was Spaceship Day, but it was more than that. It was the day we discovered that in the vastness of the universe, what matters most is who you have by your side."
The End.
No Yaxley, 0/10
It read:
"Hello, Harrison, Charlie, and Dexter. Sincerely, The Project Spaceship Day Team."
Harrison read the message and felt a surge of anger and disbelief.
