I appreciate the video and all of your research but I do have to definitely push back on one thing - Navy Federal's prequalifying tool is incredibly inaccurate... Like VERY lol. For example, just to put it to the test, I had a friend who maxed out his offerings (3 personal cards + 1 business) use the tool - He came back pre-qualified for all of the cards but we know for a fact that one individual can't hold more than 3 personal cards irrespective of limits.
I've also lost count of the amount of people who pre-qualified for this flagship card, especially as a first card and were denied lol. Other people only qualified for Secured cards and decided to cold app for unsecured cards and got them anyways.
I only say all of that to simple say this - I would take it with a grain of salt and proceed with caution. I don't think their pre-qualifications are as solid as something like AMEX & Citi.
Thanks again for all of the DP's and information tho!
Interesting, I am going to test it more and meanwhile I will pin your comment so others can see it. Thanks for chiming in, I always appreciate your feedback!
I was approved and it's my first card and I got a 25k limit. Most of the people you know credit probably sucked and they didn't have good credentials. All of that is goin to matter.
i got prequalified and got denied for flagship like 2 years ago. Was told my max was about $3000. Was able to use the hard pull to get platinum for $3000. I had already had a secured card and finally got it to $5000. It graduated about a year and a half after opening. I’ve asked for increases on both cards every 6 month and at this point i have limits of $22,000 and $11,000. The experience with navy fed has been nothing but awesome. They helped me establish credit with a 530 and 9 collects and helped me get to 791 in 2 years and 8 months of being with them. Love them.
Hell ya! Epic story! I love them too!
Hey man that’s what I’m afraid off. I have 7 years with them and a 655 FICO TransUnion.. I pre-qualify for all their cards… I’m want to apply but afraid I’ll get denied
@@d00ks that credit score doesn't mean shit to navyfed if you bank with them and do frequent deposits secured loan etc etc than you're good man....grow some 🏀🏀🏀 🤣🤣🤣
@@Bembeleke 😂
I applied for the AMEX and I was approved. Point system works better for me currently. Flagship I’ll apply for in 1 year
@@d00ks you da man 😎
I have been a member of NFCU for about 10yrs, I have the Flagship at 12.24% and a $35,000 credit limit plus a $10,500 cash advance
BOOM! Nice!
Can you add me as an authorized user for a small fee ?
@@DavidSmith-sd6qd lol
$80,000 limit is definitely the max. I was at 76k so I applied for a credit limit increase I asked for 7K more figuring I would only get the $4,000 to hit the 80k mark. Well they approve me for the full $7,000 I was sitting at 83k total credit limit for about a week then they send me an email saying they took that $3,000 back dang it. This also happened to a couple other members in our Facebook group recently same thing about a week later they took the extra back and capped them at 80k
What is the Facebook group name ?
@@DavidSmith-sd6qd Navy Federal members Lounge. Make sure you answer all the questions and agree to the group rules
How long did it take you to get to 80k?
@@ONeal397 18 months starting out with a 1,000 card
Yes it’s definitely possible My Flagship 💳 Card is at 53k limit
Go figure after I post this I literally just saw the first $80k Flagship too! Yes someone in fact did finally get 1 card $80k limit
Your video was very detailed and informative. Thank you 😊
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
I only got approved for $25,000 . Will get it up later. Not a bad card. Did it at the auto shop when they where fixing my card.
I just applied today and got a 30,000 credit limit. But I’ve also been with Navy Federal for 21 years (got my rewards credit card when I first joined the Navy) and my FICO score is above 800.
That is very nice limit, congrats AJ!
I just applied for the NFCU flagship card. I have a credit score of 790, high income, lots of savings in my NFCU account but only got approved for 25K. I’ve also been a member for 10 years. I thought I would get approved for more
$25k is the max you will get approved for out of the gates, now with CLIs you can get the limits higher but you literally got the max on the best card, so congrats!
That's a good thing 😂 now do cl increases
@@WeBeTripping wait 3 billing cycles
Applied with 722 credit score got 20k only been a member 8 months 🥶
BOOM! Congrats!
I prequalified twice... (saw all the cards listed. btw if you are not prequalified, they will offer you that "secured card"). Both of those prequalifications were still not approved and I was denied. I got 2 hard pulls after the prequalifications. Most likely due to credit score or maybe their internal credit score... but I'm confused on how that works. It's a bit dissappointing... At the time, my fico score was a 710.
Very disappointing, apparently I am off on my thoughts about the pre-qual with NFCU because several OG community members gave me some great datapoints (after I published) but I would've still at least app'd for one myself if I was in the same shoes. Try to increase products/transactional history with them (money market account, certificates, direct deposit, pledge loan etc). Remove the inq's then come back in 3 months and see how its looking. Also you can request internal score at any time inside the portal
@@WalletMonkeys done all of this... NF seem a bit stern with their denials

I think this the first front facing video I've seen on your channel lol...
Anyway still debating on which NFCU card to get next, thanks for the data points
Awesome! I want to do more of them! Lean on us if you need help deciding
I have a flagship at 25k and the platinum at 47.2k total is 72k so in 6 months CLI and combining cards would be that elusive 80k 🤔🤫😁
BOOM! Keep us posted, can't wait to hear you cap it out!
Do you have to provide proof of income if you're just requesting a cli?
I have a TransUnion FICO 8 of 655
I’ve been with NFCU for 7 years. Great relationship with them.. direct deposits. 2 checking and 2 savings with them.
They closed my rewards card 6 years ago after I messed up but paid it off no-weekly over the last few years and just paid it fully off yesterday
I’ve been checking pre-qualifying for all their cards for for months now and I get pre-qualified for all of them
I’m still afraid if I apply for the flagship I’ll be denied once they do the hard pull..
Thoughts?
if I am reading this correctly you just recently paid off a card that was closed with them? If so, give it some time or go into branch and talk to one of the bankers there, run the story by them and see what they say.
I have $30k on the Cash Card. The Flag ship doesn't offer anything my other cards already offer.
I just happen to get a 45,000 limit on my flagship card, but It is my one and only card with NFC and it's been open since 2005
Still though, that is a great limit! Congrats and that and thanks for sharing
Navy Fed member since Feb 2022.
It is now Dec and I am up to 41k
Started with 3500 cash rewards went to 5000 also a go rewards I changed to platinum at 25000 and flagship 30000 I've done 2 pledge and about 3 cds. No flagship checking
BOOM! That is great to know, thanks for sharing
My flagship limit is over $30k.
I guarantee that there are $80k flagship accounts.
CLs are often SPs.
I know they probably exist, part of my deeper not-so-sneaky plan by saying things like that in video so people will come out of the woodwork and I can get better intel. Thanks for watching and commenting, and huge congrats on the high limit Flagship- great card!
They need to make this card metal already what are they waiting for
Yep I think a cosmetic change like that would actually be great
They did a card redesign in 2018 so maybe metal flagship is up next!
so would i need a navy fed card with 5k credit limit or any card with that limit??
Hey fam, ... I made a mistake on my nfcu cli .... due to seeing the info displayed on the app ... and the credit limit had not updated yet, .... but I got 8000 cli to toal 14000 .... I had 6000 already
BOOM! Congrats!
Recently got 25k flagship card; previously 18k cash rewards
BOOM! Congrats!
Just curious, do u have to be prequalled for the Flagship? I have the More Rewards and I wasn’t prequalled/preapproved for anything, I just applied for the More Rewards the day I opened my checking and saving and got approved.
Interesting, I thought yes but I could be way off on that.
If you’re interested in a product change the only criteria you need is a 5k limit on any card. No credit check, if you want you can apply for moreRewards again after that.
What would you recommend the Amex more rewards or the Flagship visa? I have an Amex platinum. Thanks
better points on Flagship, both are great cards though
Hey, .... do you think that 8000 is the max overall, ... meaning if you have more than one card ... that will be the max over all of your cards
yes it does/will
Thanks
Thanks for the info!! Been a NFCU member since 2010, 685 TU at the moment. pretty thick file with a couple of NF pledge loans, GO rewards 25k CL under 6%, MORE rewards 7100 CL almost at max. 8k direct deposit monthly into flagship checking, with no less than 5k sitting in the account. Should I think about pulling the trigger?
Yep, use the prequal tool first though and see
@@WalletMonkeys ok thanks i been checking on the prequal tool often and all the products show up 👍
oh ok yep so that is good. I would product change go rewards to more or flag, then try to get another flag or more rewards next.
Unless you think you will get SUB, then I would slightly alter that plan
@@WalletMonkeys ok i was just thinking that. just have to know what I want. Also with the product change the intro points and such will be void i think. Couple of options to think over …
I'm at 33k with the flagship started at 25k Nov 21'. Have been with NF since 4/21. Have had 3 pledge loans none over $500.00 no flagship checking. My 1st card was Nrewards secured library maxed it and paid it off weekly for 6 months it graduated cash rewards 2k just got that CLI to 6k. Thinking about another card with them any suggestions 🤔
Strong income & 1k deposit every 2 weeks for a yr.
Solid datapoints! I would look at Platinum for a debt consolidation weapon (aka low interest and 0% offer) or More rewards. Then look to probably product change the cash rewards. I like the following stacks 2 flags and a more/plat or flag, plat, more rewards
@@WalletMonkeys they ll give you 2 flaghips ? Why would u need 2 im slow lol
I prequalified twice, and was denied twice... Very weird.
Yes it is, I would need more info and datapoints to give more specific opinion/advice
Apply for another card then do a product change
Apply for another card then do a product change
Where did you see that 60K bonus point offer for this card? The website is saying only 35K right now.
Targeted email pre-approval
I got one in the mail a few weeks ago for 60k
@@ljthirtyfiver Thanks for confirming!
NFC member since 03/22 open the basic checking and savings. Applied for secure cc $200 then 07/22 applied for GoRewards cc approved 6.2k and secure cc graduated to cash rewards cc09/22 approved 2k and $200 refunded back into my savings. I decided 09/22 to open easy certificate acct with $50 and opened flagship checking. On 01/02/23 I prequalified for 3rd cc I selected flagship cc approved for 19k.
BOOM! Congrats! So Go rewards $6.2k, cash $2k, Flag $19k. Nice stack! Fast too!
Is the whole point of this card to get the high limit? It’s rewards are kind of boring for the annual fee. It’s basically a penfed pathfinder and power cash combo with an annual fee.
Ya for a lot of people I think so
@@WalletMonkeys thanks just picked this one up. Will use it to build a relationship.
I was preaproved for flagship With 810 credit score already have a 25k card been with them 4 months. And got DENIED...pisssed as hell
That is really frustrating, call recon
Hi new here I apologize in advance to be a Lil off the subject here but seems like every one here is very knowledgeable I need some help/advice regarding Navy fed. Last year I had a navy fed secured card for 3000 I had some things cone up and I had to go on all expenses paid STATE vacation with bars everywhere if you get my drift so by the time I got out my account went to collections so I have navy fed as a closed 180 days late will they ever give me another chance? Do I pay it off slowly but surely? I have tried to remove it it will not go away just updates. Any advice is it really that good of a institution? I have a paid off pledge loan for 1000 as well so it's hard to try and remove this and not that what would you guysdo or recommend? Again my apologies for chime in thank you so much!!!!!!!!!
Yes Navy Fed does give second chance you just have to pay the loan in full no settlement the full balance that you owe and you'll be good to go
? Is your checking account still in good standing?
I see a 35k point reward not what's stated in video
Ya the 60k points is a targeted offer, I showed the email in the follow up video I did to this one
was rececnlty approved for 30K
BOOM! Congrats my friend!
I think it would be cool to have a multi-year saga with someone coming from mediocre or bad credit or bankruptcy and start with the absolute minimum $200 nRewards card with the goal of $80k max exposure. If all $80k is on one card, even better. Unlike at other banks or credit unions, I think it's possible for somebody to start with zero/nRewards and get within striking range of the $80k max exposure in 10 years.
ya that would be awesome case study
Im almost a good candidate.
Less than 2 years in the system. Went from 2 $500 secured cards to graduating to green cashbacj cards with $14k limits on both right now. Just applied for flagship for my 3rd and final card.
My CLIs went
$500>$2000>$6000>$14000
I got 33000 on mine!
Boom! Congrats
My mentor has 45K flagship card

@@liqun8360 My guy, if you know Navy Federal isn't for you, simply keep it pushing. Everything isn't for everybody. With that said, it's the BIGGEST credit union in the world in addition to (arguably) being the most popular at the moment, so don't act like this is some small, obscure institution that few people have access to.
