Is this Redshift, or Cinema 4D? The title made me think this was created in Redshift, and when I asked Maxon, they said that you can't create anything in Redshift. Nice tutorial.
This is Cinema 4D with Redshift. Redshift is a render engine you can purchase to use INSIDE of cinema 4D. It is not a software. Cinema 4D IS a 3D creation software, and a lot of artists and studios also pay for Redshift to render out the images from the software. Think of this all like having an oven, and needing to power it. The oven is the software, and Redshift is like the electricity to power that software. It's a little more complex than that but that's one way to view it. The appeal of Redshift is that it produces images and light in a way that looks much more realistic than the built in renderer, and it's also much faster. Another popular option is Octane (also a render engine you can purchase for cinema or blender). Redshift is made by the same folks at Maxon, and they sell a bundle subscription for Cinema 4D & Redshift together, which is what I pay for. Just makes things easier that way. Hope that helps!
@@virtuallyvisual, I learned a lot of that this morning…my question of the day is whether to buy Keyshot at $99 a month, or pay for Maxon One at $99 a month. I have a ZBrush Jewelry course, but $1200 a year for Keyshot is probably out of reach for most of my students. It was nice when Pixologic offered Keyshot for ZBrush for $200 on their site. That’s why I included the section of my course, because it did a beautiful job, was cost-effective, and it was fairly easy. When I first found your video, it said that it was jewelry in Redshift (“Gorgeous Jewelry in Redshift”), so I thought you were using Redshift to model the jewelry, which is a feature I had not heard of. That was before a firestorm of research today, as I scrambled to find a reasonable alternative for my Keyshot section in the course. I think having to learn new software-in addition to the complexity of ZBrush- might send some folks over the edge. 😬 I always joke that ZBrush was the first piece of software in my life to make me cry! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain, I really appreciate it!
I think I was actually just eyeballing it! I knew it’d be hard to see if I’d gotten exactly at the middle in the end of it all, so don’t worry too much on that!
Happy creating, friends! ☺
Thank you!
You really helped me out with this lesson!
I'm in the middle of a ring project right now.

how do you find the middle point of the edges when cutting the diamond with a knife tool?
