As of this posting, my new top score has already been surpassed. Adam from The Commodore Chronicles beat me handily on his most recent Twitch stream, with 183,190 points, ending his game at level 24. The bar has been raised, ladies and gentlemen, and I need to start practicing.
I initially thought you meant a notch going sideways, which I guess could also work but would rely more on luck? 183k is a pretty high bar... I shall do my best.
I think with sideways there may be more of a chance the rock might miss them. This trick doesn't always work, but I was catching a lot more of them than before.
Towards the end, you didn't dig the ditch quite deep enough. That's an easy mistake to make, it happens to me all the time, and I'm a 4 million + player.
Ah, good to know! And have you submitted any of your scores to Twin Galaxies? I don't know if the arcade version's world record is out of reach, but they'll accept submissions for all of the ports as well.

That's a good tip. I've noticed that as soon as the stone drops they run and you miss a lot of points.
Yeah, this doesn't work 100 percent of the time, but it certainly helped me.
@@pacbilly I watched your friend wipe the floor with your score. THat was impressive!
Always a pleasure thanks for putting this up!

These tips apply to the OG Dig Dug game as well. Once you learn the "ditch" trick, your scores will jump instantly.
you can do it
:D
Bravo!!!
Oh I just noticed I misspelled your last name in the description! I will fix it now...

Hahahahahha! I best get going.
The new score to beat on Normal is Commodore Chronicles Adam's 183,190. I haven't even attempted Hard yet, but I think his Hard score is around 165k.
Brain-eating amoeba?
