  • This is part one of my journey to Windrush Square to commemorate the 6th Anniversary since the exposing of the 'Windrush Scandal'.
My journey from Ealing to Brixton to attend the Windrush National Candlelit Vigil on time was a challenge. The vigil service, held on April 6th, 2024, at Windrush Square, nearby the African and Caribbean War memorial, marked the sixth anniversary of the Windrush Scandal's exposure. The vigil aimed to honour and remember those who have passed away due to the injustices inflicted by the hostile environment, despite many having arrived in the UK as British Subjects.
The service expressed gratitude for the resilience of our forebears who laid the foundations. It included opening prayers, scripture readings, and personal reflections. A minute of silence concluded the service, followed by a prayer and blessing. Subsequently, organizers and attendees lit tealight candles at the African and Caribbean War Memorial.

    Corrections
This episode incorrectly filmed the wrong spot-on Brixton Street Map when indicating the location of Windrush Square.
This episode incorrectly stated that all the flags were from the Caribbean commonwealth countries but in fact there were flags from African countries as well.
