- Alford Gardner arrived in the UK on the Empire Windrush 70 years ago. One of the only ones left to tell the tale, he remembers a happy ship, dances and round-the-clock calypso. This is the 'beautiful life of a Jamaican living in Britain'

A beautiful and enthusiastic spirit he has, his optimism is captivating. I, too, would like to hear more about his his life and listen to his stories.
Infectious positivity. I hope to be the same way at 92

🌻🇯🇲 We call him man from afar..🤩I cannot keep up with him and I am 40++..😎He lives by himself, travels by himself, his next stop from New York is 🇯🇲🇯🇲Jamaica for independent, then do it all over again.
Wonderful people. Always make me smile how much happiness pours out of the Jamaican laugh
Did he just run up those stairs at 92 yrs old?!

If i could have sneeked into his world i would have, he makes me want to live some where in his life especially listening to his laughter the bounce in his step oh my i want more of this life story God gave🤗.
I wonder if he was on the same ship as my Grandfather leaving Jamaica going to the UK
Nice happy story. When my parents came from Jamaica to London in 1960, they had only positive things to say about how welcoming people were back then from people that they didn't even know would invite them to there homes, same with co-workers. My Mother told me that she has so many invites that she had to turn down the invitations.
The same stories when I speak to an 86 yrs old relative of mine.
I’m so glad people managed to keep their optimism and happiness, despite what certain people in this country did to them.
This guy makes me proud to be British!
True! He didn’t let that dumpen his joy.
You can't buy this kind of happiness..
beautiful story
Great story!

Lord Kitchener and Lord Beginner were calysonians from Trinidad and Tobago. They are no longer with us, they were quite prolific calysonians during their lifetime. Wonderful and happy that finally the Windrush generation are given their rightful place in British history, and that every 22nd June would now be a public holiday. It had to take the Windrush scandal to achieve this auspicious recognition. "Out of evil cometh good."
😎
Brilliant - The Guardian seems to have turned a corner.
That's why I watched this happy story. ❤️
😅
