I got Remilore physical and it felt throwback in the best way. It came with a fully colored guide book and remilore-themes lens wipe for glasses. Glad to see it getting a shoutout, I had a lot of fun with that one.

Kemco Got started making a lot of mobile JRPG games. I played a couple of their games and the general feel was that they were kind of like fast food JRPGs. Not a ton of substance, but it did an alright job and could be satisfying. The Blacksmith game looks like they upped their game a little bit though for the switch.
It's because Kemco only publish these games they're made by different studios, some of them are extremely low quality (and i mean baaad) while others are so good you wonder why they're stuck in the same list.
Kemcos been around as a publisher for a while. The published some games on the NES, and SNES, (two that come to mind are Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle and Phalanx.) Then the seemingly vanished to then re-emerge as a mobile publisher.
Undernaughts was great! had to bust out the maps on the 2nd monitor for it cause damn some of those puzzles had me running around all over the place especially when you put the game down for a bit and you're like...wtf am i suppose to be doing again? only gripe was wish it had more animation. doesn't need to be anything super detailed but would be nice if enemies would flinch or something when you hit them and just more sfx in general for weapon attacks and skills since sometimes it really does feel like you are just playing animated excel spreadsheet with numbers flying everywhere lol. SMT on the 3ds really spoiled DRPG's for me like if you can't match the animations on an old 3ds tittle (strange journey, smt 4 etc) then it kinda knocks the game down a bit for me since those animations were basic, its the little things that matter.
yep labyrinth of yomi is really Experience's best I agree... labyrinth of zangetsu and etrian are coming to the switch these days but in my opinion no-one can currently beat Experience when it comes to 1st person dungeon crawlers, they are the pros. Dead or school unfortunately super expensive right now I remember when the physical was at 10 bucks and I missed it ;( Sword of the vagrant and helvetii also coming out these days as physical in EU
I hope this isn't presumptuous to me but I would love to see you covered the trails of heroes Including the ones on the PSP and the cold steel. I am a big fan of JRPG's and those are the ones that got me into gaming when I was younger And since I figured you're a big fan of JRPG was hoping that maybe you could cover it but it's up to you

Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom is great because it combines a couple styles of gameplay and IMO does all of them well. No one portion is the greatest of it's genre but it combines a good merchant sim-shop with good to great dungeon crawling and good to great RPG elements and it's balanced extremely well. I've picked it up and put it down for bigger games releases, but I'm always able to slip back into it really well. Great choice IMO. Won't be your favorite game, but a great pick for a hidden gem.

Interesting how experiences vary from person to person: Smelter's strategy portion of the game did not grab me at all so I stopped playing. (They should've stick to side-scroll platforming only.) Sword of the Vagrant and Fighting Rage on the other hand 🤩
I can see me easily picking seven (trilogy included) of these gems someday!!! I don't know if is really hidden, but enjoying a lot Yuppie Psycho, the ambient and story is not something we see everyday
Nice list! Remi Lore is fun, but it's a challenging one! I have more challenges in it than pretty much any Diablo clones out there! Of course, Sword of the Vagrant had to be in there! The art style alone is phenomenal! I'm intrigued by Labyrinth of Yomi, so I'll have to check it out! Great video and keep up the good work!

This was great as always, Fight'N Rage and Dead or School are in my backlog. I'd like to give a shout out to Legend of Dark Witch! The HD version is on the Switch, it's a side-scrolling platformer with Gradius power up mechanics, the bosses are Touhou style anime girls, you get their powers like Mega Man, and like Mega Man there' a Boss Rush at the end! It's chibi goodness. You can even unlock a new playable character, a gallery, built-in achievements, a poker game, a Breakout clone, short manga comic strips, and animated shorts!! Legend of Dark Witch on the Switch really, REALLY needs more love.
Sweet I'm looking forward to it. That developer Inside System/NAN-A needs some clout. I heard it started as a Touhou fan game but then it became its own thing, you can still see the Touhou influence in the character designs and the bullet hell patterns in some boss fights. The platform-shooting in general works a bit like Gradius, as you shoot enemies your meter builds and you press the equip button to add more shots (spreadshot), speed to your character, a gliding meter, and even a shield. So here's some (nerdy) info, a small rabbit hole if you will. There's a trilogy on 3ds....or was as it was eShop only. The first game is also on Steam, I was wishing the other two were ported to Switch and somewhere else. The catgirl boss in the second game got her own rhythm game spin-off on Switch called Rudymical. Al, a busty blue-haired ice user wielding a deathsythe, got her own addictive RPG called Brave Dungeon on 3ds and Switch. And....this is not important but Blad looks like a chibi Ryuko Matoi from Kill la Kill. Okay if you made it this far, thank you! Feel free to use any of my words in any videos or whatever if you feel like it, I just want more Gradius/Mega Man fans to give this game a try, I feel it's just that good. Ok I'm done gushing about this series, for now.

Very nice list. I think I’d also like to shout out Star Ocean: First Departure R as another hidden gem. It’s a remake of a snes RPG that never came to the west. I’m surprised I don’t hear anybody talk about it considering Star Ocean The Divine Force brought more attention to this series.
Yup. It's mostly just a slightly messed up version of the PSP remake. But with new character portraits (that I don't like). The only other thing the Switch port dose well over the PSP version is the one secret character doesn't corrupt your save game if they are the lead party member in the near the end boss fight save point. (Most people keep Rod in party lead anyway.) 😢 I am annoyed that Second Evolution on PSP didn't get the same treatment. Even though I would prefer a direct port of the PSP game and not a slightly redone version like First Departure R got.
Have you played Labyrinth of Zangetsu? If so, how does it compare? Similar vibe but with traditional Japanese 'Yokai' monsters - which is of huge appeal to me.

I haven't played the Switch versions, but I've got Lost Ruins, Dead or School, and Fight 'n' Rage on PC and they're great. I've been wanting to get a physical version of Dead or School recently and I'll have to see if physicals are available for Lost Ruins and Fight 'n' Rage as well or if there is at least a prospect for them in the future. Undernauts and Sword of the Vagrant are excellent and I also try to spread the word about them as often as possible. I just introduced my brother to Undernauts and he is now hooked on it as well and I'm looking forward to the physical release of Sword of the Vagrant coming out later this year. I'm now going to have to write a note to leave on my monitor to make Evil Tonight the next game I purchase, it looks right up my alley and every time I see footage from it the game keeps looking even better. I'll also have to keep an eye out for Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom, Remilore, Diabolical Mind Trilogy, and Smelter as well. I think I saw something about a physical release of Smelter being available, I'll have to check and see if any copies are still available at an affordable price.

My personal hidden gem list: (no order) ✓"Streets of Rouge" (800 hours played) Top down, mission based real time rouge-like shooter. Lots of unlocks, and very laid back customizable difficulty options/cheats that still allow you to unlock stuff if used, but still allows nails hard options too. ✓"Finding Teddy 2" (45 hours played two runs) Love letter to Zelda 2, Vania-lite with NPC villages, musical puzzles and generally a lot of fun. (Same game as Chronicles of Teddy on PS3) ✓"ASTALON Tears of the Earth" (60 hours both normal and extra quest beaten.) Take the core concept of Three Vikings and Trine, slap that into a NeS style Castlevania setting but focus on the puzzles and platforming. Death resets your location, but with the discovery of warp points and secrets it's never too much to backtrack, plus by buying abilities it only gets easier. ✓"Wunderling DX" (39 hours to get 100%) Staged based puzzle platformer that starts off too simple and gives meh vibes. The demo only covers the first world. But the rest of the game is absolutely fantastic, and I wasn't certain I should even buy it, except a friend told me it's worth it 100%. And I agree. ✓"Human Resource Machine" & "7 billion humans" Learn to machine level code, in these mind bending programming games. ✓"CLANNAD" (84 hours 100% with guide for five routes) High tier classic Visual Novel. Watch the first season of the anime as a demo of sorts. Stop there and then play the game to 100%, Then and only then watch the second season.
Lol had to cheat and look on my Switch: ✓"Wuppo Definitive edition" (45 hours of fun and messing around) You play a lazy slob of a Wum, who only after getting kicked out of his home, discovers the long buried truth about the world and it's impending destruction, meh big whoop. But when you get back home, you find out your room was filled! So you have to travel to the big city, where the knowledge you gained meets reality. That or you can run off to a far away island and blow bubbles forever. Lol ✓"Iconoclasts" (30 hours 100%?) Story based Platform shooter, somewhat linier but lots of fun. ✓"Minesweeper Genius" (58 hours ~23 runs) Picross meets Minesweeper in this procedurally generated puzzle game. (But once you understand the formula logic it's not as interesting as purely Picross puzzles have recently become, but I hold the second fastest speedrun of the game, of six people who submitted times.😂)

Great list, but it took until “fight n rage” for you to catch me out with a game I don’t have. So that was awesome- I love beat em ups! I have a possible contribution or two for your volume 2 video (hint) - “Castle of the Underdogs” (hilarious jrpg with 3d dot heroes style graphics) “Chroma Squad” (Basically Power Rangers - the stuntmen, the SRPG. As awesome as that sounds). “The World Next Door” (Which answers the question what if Forspoken but isometric and with a great story and likeable protagonist) and finally my ace in the hole: “Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan” (Stunningly beautiful 3D platformer classic world going from black and white to colour. Just like we were GC generation all over again. Great content as always Wren 🫶

I downloaded the demo for Forgotten Anne, but haven't had time to get to it yet. I'm blasting through a bunch of smaller games before the Kingdom Tear apocalypse hits next month. Lol
Evil tonight seems my sort of game. I absolutely loved the og Corpse Party, which is closer to silent hill/project zero in pixel form. Not soo keen on the dungeon crawler style follow-up, and I really wish the 3rd game had gone back to the pixel based graphics. But yeah my type of game

Sword of the Vagrant: Good game that one. I feel obliged to let people know that it's been on pc (via steam) for a few years under the name 'The Vagrant', and costs less than £4 as standard (it's stupid cheap when on sale). So If you have a machine that can run it, you can save a few quid. I don't think there are any massive differences between the pc and Switch versions.
Undernauts the characters don't grab me, but it has a dragon tank. A dragon. tank. Dead or School sounds sort of like a manga I read once, it was something like Highschool of the Dead.
True story, Fight ‘n Rage beat me up and stole my lunch money on my first play through. I tried my hand at the training mode and my thumbs and aging joints were pulp by the time i gave in. Now the game sits in a terrifying corner of my backlog daring me to come try again, but I think I’ll wait until i can find a more talented co-op partner.
"Dead or School" is a great game! Admittedly it's not a AAA game as when I played a year or two ago (on PS4) I got stuck on the environment here and there but it was rarely a true concern. It was also a fairly easy Platinum. "Remilore" looks interesting, I loved Diablo 1-3 and hope 4 isn't going to click all the wrong boxes. I played "Labyrinth of Refrain" and while I was into it for a while the gameplay got too confusing and convoluted and I dropped it. Sad since the story was very good. "Undernauts" looked compelling enough to give it one more shot... I'll pass on "Lost Ruins" it doesn't look bad but I think I'd rather play through "Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth" again. "Evil Tonight" looked like something worth looking into as well. I still maintain that the SNES was the best system and a RE'ish game in that style would be incredible to say the least. Pass on Diabolical, bullet hell not my thing despite how much I liked Smash TV. The rest look like good picks as well, Smelter and Vagrant I keep forgetting about and with my backlog... I wouldn't turn down a chance to play either though if there was a decent sale.

This just happened I found a Switch case in a trash can at a airport. My first thought is cool free case I opened it up and found 11 games in the case.

The first game is also on Steam, I was wishing the other two were ported to Switch and somewhere else. The catgirl boss in the second game got her own rhythm game spin-off on Switch called Rudymical. Al, a busty blue-haired ice user wielding a deathsythe, got her own addictive RPG called Brave Dungeon on 3ds and Switch. And....this is not important but Blad looks like a chibi Ryuko Matoi from Kill la Kill.

Very nice list. I think I’d also like to shout out Star Ocean: First Departure R as another hidden gem. It’s a remake of a snes RPG that never came to the west. I’m surprised I don’t hear anybody talk about it considering Star Ocean The Divine Force brought more attention to this series.

Yup. It's mostly just a slightly messed up version of the PSP remake. But with new character portraits (that I don't like). The only other thing the Switch port dose well over the PSP version is the one secret character doesn't corrupt your save game if they are the lead party member in the near the end boss fight save point. (Most people keep Rod in party lead anyway.)
😢 I am annoyed that Second Evolution on PSP didn't get the same treatment. Even though I would prefer a direct port of the PSP game and not a slightly redone version like First Departure R got.

I haven't played the Switch versions, but I've got Lost Ruins, Dead or School, and Fight 'n' Rage on PC and they're great. I've been wanting to get a physical version of Dead or School recently and I'll have to see if physicals are available for Lost Ruins and Fight 'n' Rage as well or if there is at least a prospect for them in the future. Undernauts and Sword of the Vagrant are excellent and I also try to spread the word about them as often as possible. I just introduced my brother to Undernauts and he is now hooked on it as well and I'm looking forward to the physical release of Sword of the Vagrant coming out later this year.
I'm now going to have to write a note to leave on my monitor to make Evil Tonight the next game I purchase, it looks right up my alley and every time I see footage from it the game keeps looking even better. I'll also have to keep an eye out for Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom, Remilore, Diabolical Mind Trilogy, and Smelter as well. I think I saw something about a physical release of Smelter being available, I'll have to check and see if any copies are still available at an affordable price.

My personal hidden gem list: (no order)
✓"Streets of Rouge" (800 hours played)
Top down, mission based real time rouge-like shooter. Lots of unlocks, and very laid back customizable difficulty options/cheats that still allow you to unlock stuff if used, but still allows nails hard options too.
✓"Finding Teddy 2" (45 hours played two runs)
Love letter to Zelda 2, Vania-lite with NPC villages, musical puzzles and generally a lot of fun. (Same game as Chronicles of Teddy on PS3)
✓"ASTALON Tears of the Earth" (60 hours both normal and extra quest beaten.)
Take the core concept of Three Vikings and Trine, slap that into a NeS style Castlevania setting but focus on the puzzles and platforming. Death resets your location, but with the discovery of warp points and secrets it's never too much to backtrack, plus by buying abilities it only gets easier.
✓"Wunderling DX" (39 hours to get 100%)
Staged based puzzle platformer that starts off too simple and gives meh vibes. The demo only covers the first world. But the rest of the game is absolutely fantastic, and I wasn't certain I should even buy it, except a friend told me it's worth it 100%. And I agree.
✓"Human Resource Machine" & "7 billion humans"
Learn to machine level code, in these mind bending programming games.
✓"CLANNAD" (84 hours 100% with guide for five routes)
High tier classic Visual Novel. Watch the first season of the anime as a demo of sorts. Stop there and then play the game to 100%, Then and only then watch the second season.
Lol had to cheat and look on my Switch:
✓"Wuppo Definitive edition" (45 hours of fun and messing around)
You play a lazy slob of a Wum, who only after getting kicked out of his home, discovers the long buried truth about the world and it's impending destruction, meh big whoop. But when you get back home, you find out your room was filled! So you have to travel to the big city, where the knowledge you gained meets reality. That or you can run off to a far away island and blow bubbles forever. Lol
✓"Iconoclasts" (30 hours 100%?)
Story based Platform shooter, somewhat linier but lots of fun.
✓"Minesweeper Genius" (58 hours ~23 runs)
Picross meets Minesweeper in this procedurally generated puzzle game. (But once you understand the formula logic it's not as interesting as purely Picross puzzles have recently become, but I hold the second fastest speedrun of the game, of six people who submitted times.😂)
Ughh, I'm trying to save money after overspending so far this year! But, Undernauts is readily available physically and not overpriced.

“Castle of the Underdogs” (hilarious jrpg with 3d dot heroes style graphics)
“Chroma Squad” (Basically Power Rangers - the stuntmen, the SRPG. As awesome as that sounds).
“The World Next Door” (Which answers the question what if Forspoken but isometric and with a great story and likeable protagonist)
and finally my ace in the hole:
“Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan” (Stunningly beautiful 3D platformer classic world going from black and white to colour. Just like we were GC generation all over again.

Evil tonight seems my sort of game. I absolutely loved the og Corpse Party, which is closer to silent hill/project zero in pixel form. Not soo keen on the dungeon crawler style follow-up, and I really wish the 3rd game had gone back to the pixel based graphics. But yeah my type of game

Sword of the Vagrant: Good game that one. I feel obliged to let people know that it's been on pc (via steam) for a few years under the name 'The Vagrant', and costs less than £4 as standard (it's stupid cheap when on sale).
So If you have a machine that can run it, you can save a few quid.
I don't think there are any massive differences between the pc and Switch versions.

Fighting Rage IS the best beat em up game ever made, it's by far the most technical and intense.

True story, Fight ‘n Rage beat me up and stole my lunch money on my first play through. I tried my hand at the training mode and my thumbs and aging joints were pulp by the time i gave in. Now the game sits in a terrifying corner of my backlog daring me to come try again, but I think I’ll wait until i can find a more talented co-op partner.
I hate playing as school girls in games, but Dead or School looks like some stupid fun.
Also, sorry but Sword of the Vagrant is trash.
"Dead or School" is a great game! Admittedly it's not a AAA game as when I played a year or two ago (on PS4) I got stuck on the environment here and there but it was rarely a true concern. It was also a fairly easy Platinum. "Remilore" looks interesting, I loved Diablo 1-3 and hope 4 isn't going to click all the wrong boxes. I played "Labyrinth of Refrain" and while I was into it for a while the gameplay got too confusing and convoluted and I dropped it. Sad since the story was very good. "Undernauts" looked compelling enough to give it one more shot...
I'll pass on "Lost Ruins" it doesn't look bad but I think I'd rather play through "Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth" again. "Evil Tonight" looked like something worth looking into as well. I still maintain that the SNES was the best system and a RE'ish game in that style would be incredible to say the least. Pass on Diabolical, bullet hell not my thing despite how much I liked Smash TV. The rest look like good picks as well, Smelter and Vagrant I keep forgetting about and with my backlog... I wouldn't turn down a chance to play either though if there was a decent sale.

I hate first person. I always forget to watch the rear view scope. Third person is best, preferably hack and slash over turn based.
