ttps:// • Buell M2 "PSiclone" Pa...
This is the first part in the Version 2.0 Rebuilt of this 1997 Buell M2 Cyclone, Dubbed the "PSiclone" by the owner. In this video, we adapt our 1986-2003 Sportster Turbo Kit to the Buell Platform, and then take it to the dyno for an "untuned" and "out of the box" result. These dyno numbers could be easily replicated with little to no tuning after installing this turbo kit on your tube frame Buell, and with a little more tuning and a leaner main jet, this bike would've put down 110whp easy. We want to stress that these numbers were achieved on a bone stock '97 M2 Cyclone (with 67k miles mind you!); these bikes came with the Sportster D cam, and other than smaller combustion chambers and a lighter crank, it is essentially a 90's Sportster engine. These M2's didn't even get the bigger valve heads until '99 (S1's got them in '98). So expect to put down at least another 10-15whp with the bigger valve/better ports of the later bikes, as well as the N4 cam.
In the next video, we'll be adding in some heavier valve springs and a set of Andrews Camshafts, and pouring race gas into the tank. We'll be doing a comparison of the 40-80mph time of this setup on 12psi vs. the original setup on 9psi. It's waaaaay faster now!

words cannot explain how awesome this is!
Word may explain it better though😅
You're doing important things here Dude.
Please keep it up.👊
Thanks Michael, comments like these are why I still continue to read them.
Looks great! Rustoleum Ultra BBQ grill paint works really well on turbo hotside parts and has an almost satin finish. Doesn't flake or peel. Stops the rust anyway.
Your Work is Soothing to Heart ❤️
my ear love it when the footage change to you riding the bike lol.
The people asked and you delivered with the dyno run. Awesome Part 1 mate. Can't wait to see the rest of this build.
Wowow amazing. Wasn't delighted about that untwisted solder wiring joint at 8:04 but what do I know. You are a master.
This is so awesome! Waiting for part 2
Kool as mate 👌 iv been daily riding my turbo shovel since x mas and been ball of fun mine blowthrough
Great job on the relocation and reducing header length. The custom log intake manifold is impressive too. Sub'd!
Nice work. Looks awesome
Fuel injection style clamps instead of those crappy worm drive ones are the way to go!
Looks like alot of fun!
Nice work with exhaust etc
love it! ❤
"Excellent"!!! 👍
American Horsepower!!!
Overlap, crackling exhaust notes, perfect to clean out those big ass jugs!!
What about,
"Chain drive"!??
Juggle a few ratios!!???
Really enjoyed this podcast.
You're doing a great job please keep it up!! 👍
These bikes are plenty fun n/a as well. I had a 2001 m2 cyclone I picked up cheap last year and 1st 3 gears it would power wheelie without a turbo lol. Had an hsr42 jetted, Buell race air cleaner and supertrapp exhaust. Previous owner didn't have history before his ownership but it did feel like the engine couldve had some internal work done with how hard it pulled. Worst part was my knee hitting the air cleaner so took some getting used to. Ended up selling and miss it.
Can't wait to see the 2nd part.... now if only i can get you to put one together for my XB9 lightning
I could build you a setup around the $3,500 mark installed if I had the bike. Hit me up through my website if you want more info. An XB would be at around 125-130whp on 9psi of boost and 110-115ft/lbs. XB's are shorter than these so it would be a wheelie machine lol
@@DoctorMotorcycle A Wheelie & Stoppie machine 🤣🤣😎
Holy moly dude
Good job...
Back in 2007 I was torn between buying a Buell Ulysses or what late became my still current motorcycle, the Guzzi 1200 Sport. I'm sure the Ulysses would have made me happy as well.
You're a fucking madman i love it. The mad scientist at work
mantap om ❤
Great build! looks like fun now! Was there any interior mods on the intake "can" or was it just open inside?
Depends on the goals of the build, sometimes yes sometimes no. Seat of the pants velocity stacks only make a minor difference, on the dyno it'd probably be worth 4-5hp. This one no.
MY MANN
Nice welding, mate. How long have you been doing turbo kits for bikes or just working on bikes in general? You're clearly very skilled in your craft :)
impressed, v v v impressed.
That's a nice looking build. Here in the uk we have the buell xb9 lightning and i love tje styling. Just out of curiosity what would a build like this cost? Keep up the good work. 👍🏼🤙🏼👌🏼🏴🇬🇧
I sure miss my S2
I use a Mig tip cleaner on my cardboardeater jets. Teeny tiny wire definitely works though.
what turbo size are you using in the new setup?
cool
Ever done an xvs1600 turbo conversion as I’m wanting to go that route ?
im confused as to how this works, the carb sends fuel into the cyclone thing before the cylinder?
Yes. The turbo is drawing through the carb. Makes it simpler, but sometimes the compressor wheel doesn’t like the fuel mixture in it.
The alternative is a blow through where the turbo blows into the carb. But, with that setup you need more stuff since the fuel has to fight against boost pressure to get into the carb.
Any way I can purchase one of your previous manifolds
So what do you do with all the bikes?
Sometimes they're customer bikes (about half), other times they're mine and I keep them/ride them for a while to work out the bugs, get it running good and sell it.
@@DoctorMotorcycle sweet! I love your videos! I hope to have a motorcycle one day
Would love to do this toe XB12R
I have a 97 s1 lightning. 100hp stock. Not to rear tire. Some work on mine will lift front just like in vid.
You should make a baby intercooler for it
Someone please get this guy some good hose clamps. Worm drive are junk. Get him some smooth fuel inj clamps.
08:27 Gesundheit 🤧
My mk2 cyclone will pull the front tire pretty easy
i'd suggest putting the carb after the turbo, will help with reliability
No, it won't, blow through turbo setups are way less reliable than draw-thru's. They are much more complex to get dialed in and can be finicky with large weather changes, If the float in the carb sticks, it floods the engine with fuel and you're stranded. I've ridden over 20,000 street miles on draw-thru turbo setups, haven't been left standing on the side of the road a single time. 👍
@@DoctorMotorcycle ah, well i'm not really familiar with turbo carb engines, thought since the charge isn't flowing through the turbo it won't cause any seals to fail(was also thinking the fuel will gunk up the turbo, which is stupid ik -_-), but since it doesn't have rubber seals it'll be fine, now thinking about it, the charge will also clean the cold side and it'll have better atomization too. Yup, i was wrong on so many levels lol. love your vids tho, could you please also ride reviews of the bikes you build, the short section isn't enough

Omg throw the carbs in the trash
the ignition box in the trash
It is 2024, the most basic cheapest arduino ecu will make tuning that thing so much easier
But man this is cool 😂
why would you withhold back pressure data?
Ok guess I'll take it lol
