How much did all the turbo conversion parts for the build cost? The xj700 Maxim is similar to the 650, so I would think the parts & numbers to get it dialed in, would also be similar.
Seriously, this is the stuff of sorcery and alchemy! I have done basic and intermediate mechanics courses that enjoyable and useful for basic maintenance and at least give me the insight that this here is on another level of Jedi style skill, experience and knowledge. It should be obvious to anyone that there so much more that went in to this build than just in the film - thanks so much for sharing. If I had one constructive comment it would be that I wish you had taken a longer walk around the final finished bike whilst it ticking over so I could get a better look. Whoever gets that bike is very fortunate.
Hola alguien podría ayudarme por favor, tengo una Yamaha xj 650 modelo 82, me podrían decir a cuántos psi lleva de precion las barras de la suspensión delantera?? gracias de antemano...
Thanks! It's weird to think a 35 minute video is considered short, I'll keep that in mind in the next build video. Just don't like putting in excessively long cuts or showing the same thing over and over.
I got a 1980 xj650 a year ago, and I’m still working on it since I’m in college. It’s a fun bike and an interesting one at that. The fact that you built something so sick inspires me. Much love bro
Near as I can tell, you haven't sent SQUAT to any other shop! Appreciate that much because I live at the end of the road in the 3rd world and make everything from scratch: steel, wood, concrete, sheetmetal, plastic, earth . . . .whatever. Absolutely LOVE to see you cutting, welding, tapping and fabricating it all. Good work! Keep it up!
Yup, I was totally impressed by your exhaust right up until I saw your custom intake for the screw and then I wasn't impressd anymore. I was f'ing blown out of my boots! You are talented my new friend!
borderline asmr lol. I own a 85 xj700x. Its been semi restored/rebuilt so defititenly cant chop it up but would love to do this one day. Fun to watch thanks for uploading. That first ride was probably a blast
It's hit and miss with the draw-thru setups; many times you can't hear the turbo, and if you do, it's very faint and only at certain RPMs. This bike is on the more faint side. The bigger CC twin cylinders (like they harley + the virago) whistle pretty loud at all RPM's. Always thought that was odd. Could be the small carb's on the smaller engine's and small air filter dampening the sound too. Cheers!
Thanks for leaving the hammer thumb fiasco in... nice human touch. Always was, and will continue to be envious of people who have such skill and dexterity... Subscribed🙏
Very engaging and addictive build, i did my own turbo conversion on a 2JZ GTE some years back so this was like everything in minature. However a few shop practices i would have been crucified for as an apprentice, fasten the damm vice down 😁. Use clamps to hold sheet down particularly with hole saws, if they bite its chopping your hand off. Hands getting way to close to cutting tools. At one stage it looked like you were using grinding wheels on ally, this can cause the blade to clog, overheat and shatter. And leave the tape for plumbing not oil fittings, use Loctite. On the flip side a good range of skills on show and a very nice looking bike (except the exhaust popping through the seat - what was someone thinking 😁) Great video
Been watching your videos since you had 1k subscribers. I feel like you’ve always gone the cheap route and do some sketchy stuff on your builds, and I get that as a mechanic myself. It’s not always easy getting the best of the best parts and tools. I really liked this build tho. Love how you got the tank to look that good with rattle cans. And the exhaust is phenomenal. This bike looks so fun to ride and super fast for what is and it sounds REALLY good. Great build sir.
Every Mechanic/Fabricator has done a repair that they wouldn't want to represent their work, and that they definitely wouldn't record and put on the internet. Many of the mistakes I made were out of just being inexperienced, or having such a tight budget I had no choice but to do something ghetto. Like welding exhaust pipe with a flux core welder. Other than working on stuff and doing basic repairs to dirtbikes/cars, I wasn't a motorcycle mechanic/facbricator prior to this channel; I was a CNC machinist. We've still just barely scratched the surface. This is still the early days of my work. You ain't seen nuthin yet!
Looks like you know what you're doing. I have an unhealthy obsession for the 83-84 Yamaha XJ650L Seca Turbos. Heavy, unreliable (for a Yamaha anyway), and love it or hate it styling, but very fun and comfortable. I know this was a Maxim XJ650 in it's previous life, but seeing xj650 turbo caught my eye and I had to check in. Thanks for bringing up some Yamaha Turbo memories.
Very nice....I just bought an 82 Yamaha seca Turbo...my buddy and I are doing a naked street fighter turbo....you definitely have us some ideas....I especially like the way you put your front fork tubes together.. Among other thing...
I was about getting a heart attack at times you started drilling into the carbs, and various other parts where "holes were not supposed to be" :) This conversion is really nice and close to my heart, since the XJ650 was my first ever bike...
Unbelievable ! I have 3 stupid questions ! How long it took you from day one to the end in days or hours ? Where did you learn all that ? Did you work in a motorbike shop for years or did you learn everything by reading, trying and putting your hands into it ? what is your background ? Thanks for showing us how you do ! it's inspire me a lot ! Greetings from Switzerland !
Very nice job there chief, I was particularly surprised with how accurate you were remodeling the tank and seat, top job that mate, and the exhaust sounded ace too. 😎
Adjust your torch angle to a 90 degree angle to your work, try upping the amps to 65, move a bit faster. Also suggest using ER316L SS filler rod, makes the welds look like you have 20+ years of TIG experience.
pls enjoy it when the T kicks in a corner rofl! Long strait roads my honda did well corners was allways a gamble and wow I still remeber the T kick in mid first corner it was intence!
In depth/how-to's and voice over type content is all on Patreon, but it's a feature of the ignitions I use on my builds. You can just use a Dynatek DRL-300 if you just want a 2-step.
The XB9 is a great motor to do a turbo on; I'd argue better than the 1200 due to the shorter stroke (and I think the rod angle(s) are also better on the 984 Motor) making it rev-happy. It would pull all the way to 8k! I've always fantasized about building a hard-tail chopper w/Buell 984cc Evo Motor and a GT22 sized turbo, it would be so much fun. One day
@@DoctorMotorcycle not going to lie, that's almost better than a Christmas miracle to me! 😉🙂 The art work, yes ART, you tie together is truly appreciated and Inspiring. I need this in my life.

Good vid dude, no chat, no music, looked and sounded proper, big up.
These videos are unrivaled. Nobody else puts so much detail into such short videos! Your skills with motorcycles are incredible.
Thanks! It's weird to think a 35 minute video is considered short, I'll keep that in mind in the next build video. Just don't like putting in excessively long cuts or showing the same thing over and over.

6:57 oh god I felt that all the way up to my bicep
Right. That shock then the pulsating pain.
RIP to docs thumb
I knew someone would say something😂
He know everything and can do whatever he wants... it's a intelligence out of ordinary

This masterpiece belongs in a museum 🎨
Jesus Christ that bike is SWEEEET and no slouch
I knew I didn't need a Porsche when I rode my first bike.
Soon as I saw the exhaust placement I was hoping you’d add a 45. So good. Well done.

Excellent re-hash of a Despatcher's favourite when I was still on the plot.!.
She's a beast! Immaculate build
Excellent build!
I could hear the turbo sounds on that one loud and clear.
Music to my ears.

9:40 that's a clean cut
Incredible mechanic and sculptor.. Truly a doctor of motorcycles...
Thanks Anthony! Check out the latest upload if you enjoyed this video.
You have a incredible talent brother..
Nice! Loved the judicious use of the big orange hammer - made my day!
A competent, all round mechanic.
I love how you can mount turbos, you make it looks so easy; I hope one day get a DIY turbo bike.
Une moto de légende le travaille aussi , bravo .👏
Such a great build, you have incredible talent! Thanks for your hard work and the wonderful video!
Thanks Brian!

Now i need someone like you to turbocharge my old Transalp. :D
Wow great skills! I wouldn't even know where to start. 👍
Great video, love the work, it was a real pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing.
I've been toying with the idea of throwing a turbo on my 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan Mean Streak. 1600CC engine. Might be a bit fun.
EXCELLENT narrative-free presentation. Also see you have included just enough tech-text to help us deep into it and hoping to copy some techniques.
Glad it was helpful!

Excellent job, better than Yamahas own 650 turbo which was a total failure.
この発想とアイデア、素晴らしいクリエイターさんです!それを支える技術もまた素晴らしい!
Genial! Unglaubliche Handwerkskunst
This was cool video! Love that 2step
I prefer leather seats, but bro your a master.
My Triumph is happy at the ton and it has more.
About time someone made an XJ 600 worthy of existence 😂 top work man! But I could think of easier ways to get 100 pony’s 😎😉

Dr in the house! Nice build
Great work. I have a friend who did the same to a XJ 750.
That exhaust was a work of art. Nicely done. New sub here now for certain!

Apparently you've done this before, enjoyed the vid thx 👍
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video Thank’s
Great video, very achievable build for most people.
That exhaust placement has me chuckling ngl
Nice to see a video from start to finish in one video,
I've got a virago so will be nice to see what you do with yours
You need to build another one! I love café style bikes. I had an 883 café but hit some loose sand on an old road. Keep the rubber side down, man.
Wow what a bike! sounds and goes awesome. Happy new year!
6:58 this is genius

Lovely Job... Congratulation..... Happy New Year to.....
That has to be one of the few videos where i actually thought : That's totally doable with what i have home.
For Sale; XJ650 Cafe Racer Project; It's torn down to the frame rn have a ton of new parts, just don't have the time 😉
"EXCELLENT"!!!!!! 👍
WoW! I envy your work and talent. I could just dream of having one of those classics. Great job!
Thanks!
Incroyable, top !!!

Love the build !!! My wife with shred me if i attempt that 😅🤪
Well done. Just eventually watched the video Christmas got in the way 😆
Haha, understandable Nick. Twin Turbo Mad Max Virago is next, see you soon!

7:00 ahh I can feel the pain brother.
Wow good work

Man... This is a beast... And I love the exhaust. Go on with these kind of projects!
Thanks! Twin Turbo Mad Max Virago is next, stay tuned!

Ha ha ha...nice one ...that looked like fun to ride at the end. Thanks.
It's a blast, one of my favorite builds for sure.
Wow so cool !
Open up a service branch in india.... I am damn sure..... People will die for a setup from you.....
Świetna robota 👏

I know this probably won’t get seen. But is there any way you can go in depth on how the 2 step was setup? Awesome videos man! I appreciate it.
