  • Welcome Everyone!
    In this video, we turn this 1982 Kawasaki KZ650 CSR into a Desert Destroying Scrambler! This bike is fitted with a GT15 turbo in Draw-Thru Configuration with an HSR42 Carburetor with an adjustable power jet.
    To be clear, the final tuning portion took a full week of tinkering. Just know that there's a LOT of work that goes on behind the scenes and that is not shown on camera. Tuning a Turbocharged Motorcycle is a LOT of work, which is why I made a complete how-to video for Turbocharging that's on my Patreon.
    In addition to the complete how-to video for Turbocharging, we have another 11 Videos ranging from how-to wire from scratch, to Cable Modifications, Making a seat and more. Additionally, if you aren't interested in how-to content but just want to show some support, you can join the lower tier which also has behind-the-scenes content, dedicated videos, Polls for design input on the bikes and more!
    Check it out at www.patreon.com/doctormotorcycle
    Also, check out our website (and Merch!) at www.doctor-motorcycle.com
    Thank you!

    Well.... I am old enough to recall the Z650 and a part of me thinks this is an act of sacrilege.
    But a part of me thinks this is the most wonderful use of time, tools and motorcycle parts that I've seen for a long time.
    What an excellent project!

    A 3.4 40-80mph time puts this bike only 2/10th's off a GTR and 3/10th's off a Hellcat. I think on 15psi of boost this bike would be able to match the 3.1 40-80mph of a hellcat. Check out the 40-80mph list to see how this bike compares! www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/k17y8b/large_compilation_of_4080_mph_acceleration_times/
    Also - *These full build videos are not all encompassing of the work performed. There was/is a TON of work done off camera, especially with regards to small details like cable routing, wire management, jetting, and all the small little details that can take weeks to get sorted to have a solid, dependable ride. The time between shooting the last shot in the garage and having a done, ready to ride bike is usually 2-3 weeks. The wiring harness is removed and completely loomed, there's no exposed wires, and the bike is road tuned with a wideband 02 sensor before moving on to the final ride shots. This is 2.5 months of work condensed into 20 minutes. These videos are very, very abbreviated 👍

    • @CONEHEADDK
      @CONEHEADDK 9 месяцев назад +1

      You REALLY should round those edges you stick the wiring through. 100% sure, they will result in grawed wires pretty fast. Woring is one of the weakest links in DIY bikes. And "nobody" can figure it out thanks to lack of tech sheets or skills.

    • @JakeFrey
      @JakeFrey 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@CONEHEADDKthe wires are really only a problem if you go hill climbing…. oh wait 😂

    • @DoctorMotorcycle
      @DoctorMotorcycle  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@CONEHEADDK I did deburr it, I got it on camera too, but all you see is my hand. Sometimes things are a PITA to get on camera and the shot is junk, you'd know that if you've ever tried to record yourself working on something. I wrapped it with wiring harness tape and pushed it in the bar so there's no exposed wiring as well. Obviously, there's many things I've done on these builds that aren't on camera. I re-wired the whole bike, yet there's in total probably 30 seconds worth of wiring in this video. The jetting portion took over a week to get right, it wasn't shown in the video at all. I daily ride my bikes, I put 12k miles on my sportster since I buillt it, zero electrical issues. This isn't my first rodeo.
      Thank you for reminding me why I need to put my "*this video doesn't even show 30% of the work performed" disclaimer pinned in the comment section.

    • @CONEHEADDK
      @CONEHEADDK 9 месяцев назад

      @@DoctorMotorcycle I have zero recording experiences to bid in with. I "just" have close to 50 years of reparing and making all kinds of things, and know a few of the things, that often go wrong. The number of bikes I could have bought cheap, if I had known about wiring as "a kid" - before any help was to be found - pains me to think of. Seeing is believing, so when I didn't see it (the bits I had the sound on, had no speech, and I often listen to "something brainy" while watching "meditational" like fx yours of fly fishing or tying at the same time) I didn't expect it to have happened. Also explains the "instant carburator montage"..

      Arizona is a Very Dry state so it's not really an issue, and I've notice as long as you keep up with keeping it clean/wiped off once every few weeks w/terry cloth, it's not an issue. Surprisingly it doesn't flash rust when you get water on it like it does when it's raw steel, though I can't say as to why. It might have something to do with the polishing compound.
