- In this video I'm deleting the resonator on my 2015 Chevrolet Sonic RS Turbo. I walk you through how to make it yourself, with sound comparisons of before and after so you can decide whether you want to do this on your sonic.

GF did muffler, Resonator, And 2end cat delete, Its on are Chanel it gets a decent rumble and some pops if your looking for a bigger diffrence
First thing I did. Muffler and resonator delete and got a glass back as a muffler. Took about 60k miles to break in glass pack. Made a big difference. Then got sec cat delete and made a noticeable difference.
I considered a muffler delete too. The police here are pretty strict about it so not sure if it’s worth the risk. Might try a cat delete this summer tho.
I used to daily the muffler and and res delete. No drone. It was loud but once warmed up it sounded amazing

@@MtGarage I say do it put make it so you can clamp it back on? Or lay off the throttle when you see the police. When I get a sonic again I'm gonna put in a electric cut out in place of the resonator and so I don't gotta worry about electrical I was gonna run it to a small battery like a lawn tractor battery or something..

Heyy what gas you use when you had your sonic I always use 89 octane but I wonder is it okay to use 91 octane it’s a turbo btw

Thanks for watching! Haven’t decided on a muffler yet. Might just leave it stock as I don’t want the exhaust to be too loud. May try a bigger down pipe and cat delete next.
Has the sound changed after driving more miles with the resonator delete? 🙂
No it still sounds the same. It sounds really nice on cold start, but quiets right down after a few seconds. Gotta try something else yet to get a bit more sound out of it.

I have a 2016 sonic LT sedan and I want to lower it so it sits closer to the ground and I want to upgrade the 16'in rims to 19-20' rims is this a good move?
I have a 2018 sonic premier. I recommend not going above a 18' wheel.

@@MtGarage I got a 2016 gen 2 cruze been debating on taking the resonator out and after the video i was wondering do you have the stock muffler still on the sonic aswell
Yup still running the stock muffler, just removed the resonator.
@@MtGarage even without it I’m surprised how quiet it was
Yes the muffler definitely still makes a big difference. The resonator only seems to change the tone a bit

Hi, haven’t had to replace the plugs yet. I normally go with NGK iridium plugs tho.

I have a completely stock 2017 sonic RS I put a K&N cold air intake on and like a week later check engine light came on dont have a warranty took to dealership they said the turbo isn't making enough boost... question is what can I do to make it run the way it should its lagging out and has little to no power.. i don't really know anything abt cars other then i like the turbo sound and like to go fast lol but anyway are there any mods I can do to fix this and gain power thanks
if you haven't diagnosed by now the most common culprit would be a boost leak due to a fault in the pcv system; searching "sonic turbo under boost pcv" will return about a million results
@@l0t49 still doing the same thing I got told it could be the wast gate actuator not opening or is stuck open
same year 2015 dragon green 6sp manual. we drive the exact same type 😂only difference is my windows are tinted

If you have the 1.4 you'll need to learn how to replace your crankshaft bearing and your pcv valve cover.

do a muffler delete that will make it sound better. deleting the cat wont really make it much louder, i dont own a sonic i own a spark and it has 2 cats

It's really not a bad sounding car overall, but not a huge difference, just a bit more breathy.
Think you might have been better off with a muffler replacement. This may add rasp.
Haha thanks! Gotta make due with what we got. Could definitely hear a bit more flow, just didn’t get the tone I wanted. I couldn’t find any videos of just a resonator delete so figured it was worth doing. For science 😂
Definitely. The results were surprising to me. Shows you how much the muffler alone does.
