How much you spend on that one? Plus, some mechanics said that when you replace stock to cold air intake like K&N it will reduce its air flow and the engine lights will come out because the ECU can not recognize the right amount of airflow that it needs. I don't know man maybe they just really saying bad things to this cold air intake. Btw how is the performance does it feel way better than the stock?
I paid $280… honestly you will get minimal hp/torque gains and you can optimize with a tune which will also remove the engine check light because it will come on but I manually turn it off with a Bluetooth scan tool when it does come on randomly(engine will perform normally) with or without engine check light with this Cold Air Intake. After installing this I did notice the turbo taking in more air hence you can hear the blow off valve whenever the turbo spools up which was cool. If you ask me is it worth it (you decide), depends, it’s a Chevy Trax/Buick 4 cylinder engine not a V8… the bigger displacement the more positive effect with a cold air intake.
Thanks. So far it’s worked out great for me. Does not feel so slow anymore with this modification. I can actually hear the turbo noise which also makes it sound faster haha.
Does it do away with that perforated coupler looking thing right above the turbo inlet? It might be diff on yours but it's on my 16 Trax. And thanks I've been wondering if those intakes would work on these rides.
Yes it gets replaced and it should be exactly the same. These engines have been the same from start of Chevy trax production till 2021 I believe. Yes they work well as intended on any turbocharged vehicle in my opinion, N/A (naturally aspirated) vehicles don’t get as much benefit. They are pricey mainly because California has strict smog emissions and this product model is CARB certified meaning it’s legal to modify and use. It’s worth it in my opinion is you want a little bit more performance out of these engines. Or you could trade the trax for a corvette lol.
It came with the aftermarket air intake component. No nothing bad has happened except for the engine check light but that does not affect the vehicle performance. Best to get an aftermarket ecu tune to rid of the engine check light
I did as a matter of fact remove the k&n cold air intake because I’m renting out my Chevy Trax on Turo and too many people were complaining about the engine check light coming on and the cars turbo making normal turbo noises.
Apologies I meant to say “ECU TUNE”. Here is a link of a company named “TRIFECTA” they do ECU “FLASH/TUNE” I would contact them and ask more questions as I don’t want to misinform you since I have not done this step. Yes it will come on when you floor it because there is more air coming into your engine. I went to Autozone when it first came on and they could pull any engine codes. Engine light will come off after driving in normal conditions. Still drives fine and not is not on limp mode.
It will always say that because this aftermarket part was not specifically designed for this particular model but it was designed or this particular engine which will fit without any fitment issues as shown in the video and else where on the internet if you gather more information.
Yes the cold air intake I bought is for the Chevy sonic, no aftermarket manufacture makes a cold air intake specifically for the Trax. Engine check light does come on but will eventually come off. When I first experienced this I went to Autozone to get the engine code and no results came back. The only solution to rid of the engine check light is to get an upgraded ecu and tune from (BNR) Bad News Racing, which will also optimize your cold air intake and also get more horsepower and torque. That is my next upgrade and will make an updated video on that as well.
@@Ax7Snow good question. Simply better performance for example improved throttle response, acceleration from 0-60, better mpg depending how you drive of course. What it does is it helps for more air forced into the turbo which mean better turbo response, slight horsepower and torque gains.
Personally I couldn’t be more happier with the installation of this modification. Also for the record I made this video for recreational purposes and I’m not sponsored by K&N or anything like that. I paid out of pocket and thought I’d be a good idea to show other owners what this does for your Trax or Encore. I will be making a follow up review about it soon.
