    My daughter just called me with same description of symptoms.
    She got oil changed at dealer, afterwards, check engine light came on, running lean, and tech she took back to out finger on that hole and had leak.
    So, if they don't cover on her lifetime warranty, I'll be doing it under "Dad, help" lifetime warranty. Lol
    Thanks for the video, and that it was early on search list on u tube.

    You are supposed to check the check valve in the intake manifold and the check valve in the PCV breather hose as well. If that check valve in the manifold is gone, you're going to be doing this job all over again in about 2 years or so. The instructions that come with the Dorman valve cover tell you that.
    Also the gaskets that come with some of these replacement valve covers are junk. Save yourself another headache and put a new Felpro or other quality gasket on it.
    Also it's a good idea to check the bolts that hold down the timing chain guide. They work themselves loose. Use loctite and re-tighten if they are loose.

    Thanks man, this was a perfect video for this issue. I have the same issue with my 2013 Buick Encore (same engine) and I was just going to replace the gasket but you showing how that diaphragm shouldn't be sucking wind convinced me to replace the whole thing. Mind was like one that put their hand over a vacuum hose while it was on;is would such and whistle pretty loud.

    This is such a great educational video. I was able to replace my valve cover on my own in about an hour and a half. (I'm a nanny, not a mechanic 😂) I like to work on cars and if I can do the work myself, I try too. You did a great job explaining everything! ONLY things I got caught up on, was taking the left side piece off that holds hoses, and the oil filler. Both held me up bc I hadn't messed with either before. But I figured it out! Thank you for making this video and listing the parts used. It was such a huge help to use "youtube-university" lol

    I did it on my car last night. Took about 45 minutes. You need that torx socket for the wire pack. It was not included in the description. I had all the parts but that one. I used some bit from my toolbox and stuck it in a small socket. Kinda worked, at least to get them loose. Putting them back in it helped a little. Still have to buy one to make sure its tight enough.

    This and Pvc fix kit v3.4 to fix the non return valve and redirects the check valve outside of the engine to stop the whole entire issue. If I could go back and redo something right now I would’ve removed my intake instead of doing it still attached because when I used the wire brush to put the insert I fucked up the tip on the intake where the Pcv hose connects and had to file the intake tip down and used and extra oring from the same hose to put the hose on

    • @jimspray1735
      @jimspray1735 Год назад +1

      @@dawnmcmannis2551 There is a rubber check valve that magically disappears from inside the intake. I'm not sure if disintegrates or if it gets sucked in to the engine. Nonetheless once that check valve goes bad/missing your vehicle will initiate the same PO171 code. If you have replaced your valve cover and the code has not reappeared then its safe to assume that your intake check valve is still in place and functioning. I am not aware of a way to check the check valve except to remove the intake and look inside the intake runner. The check valve is usually orange. There are videos on RUclips performing this exact repair, Good Luck!

    What happens if you break a screw while torquing ?

    • @tonytaylor6436
      @tonytaylor6436 Год назад

      You have to drill a hole in the ... Broken screw.... Then extract it with a special... Self...Tap bid.... A very tideus job indeed... But if done correctly...it possible o.k.. after breaking a very important Bolt ... Trust me how hard it can be ... Will make you more careful the next time for sure. 😂... Good luck

    So you are just not going to replace the part that keeps causing the valve cover to break?

    Hi, i have Chevy trax 2019, I feel the smell of something burning When driving, could there be an oil leakage or something?

      On my friend's SUV does that. It's a power steering fluid leak. The fluid leaks and drips on the hot engine. The cause is a power steering hose needs replacement.

    So I just made this repair on my wife's Trax yesterday, but this morning I noticed an oil spot in the driveway. I didn't know about using the gasket maker before hand, so could this be the issue?
