What about a build challenge where you have a set amount of time (3-5mins) to "shop" for furniture/lights. Then, you have to build the shell and furnish the house with what you picked out, not being able to go back to purchase other items and needing to use everything you pulled out. Further Info: *Choose your time constraint based on the size of shell you intend to make. 3min for a relatively small house, 4min for a normally sized one, 5 for anything above. You CANNOT change the decided size of house after the shopping phase has ended, regardless of how much furniture you lack of have in excess. *During the shopping phase, you can select anything from the build/buy catalogue. If you want more than one of an item, you need to duplicate/pull out as many as you want. *Swatches are finalized when the time runs out *If you want a higher difficulty, windows/doors can also be selected during the shopping stage *After the time is up, take as long as you want to build the shell, add wallpaper/flooring, and furnish it using ALL the items you picked out in the shopping stage *Landscape is separately timed (1min), but you cannot arrange it until time is up. Hopefully this all leads to an interesting build~
this is silly, but when you talked about the keys i got this idea: wouldn't it be cute if your sims had keys? like, you buy the house and get the keys and if your sim is clumsy they may lose them and be locked out or someone may steal them and so on. i think it would be funny

Not to say they're not annoying still, but when you objectively compare what they're capable of doing compared to sims 3 or sims 2 sims in terms of action and routing, they are pretty smart. Half of the small spaces we cram in mini houses in sims 4 would not actually function in the other ones
@Kaylee Reese but they can walk around small bed spaces, use a bathroom that's entirely squeezed into one tile, scoot over on the bed (depending on the save), talk to multiple people at once, watch tv and eat at the same time, etc. I'm not saying sims 4 sims are the best overall - not by a long shot, I'm just saying they are pretty smart (for what they are) and probably better than some people might give them credit for. They're just... kinda bland personality and reaction wise

Don't forget the use of half walls. Alot of 'older' apartments use them. That was my first thought when you where thinking of sticking the kitchen around the front door. Just a thought.

You should try building with your monitor in greyscale, so you can't see the color of any of the swatches, then at the end put your monitor back and see what you did!
This apartment is so special to me because it's the place my first Sim lived when I got the game (I got City Living on a deal too) and I have never fully renovated it because the layout reminds me of when I started playing and just changed the item colors to give her a better apartment. I'm so happy to see it given new life, the build is beautiful!

I love your builds, and I use them all the time. Theyre nice, because they look good enough that if i dont have the energy to add stuff they wont feel lacking, but if i want add something i don't have to delete half the stuff in the house first. You're my favorite builder!

Older apartments with big window walls like that can have a small (sometimes narrow) entry hallway by the front door with a bedroom/office across from it. Then you would still have the big windows in the livingdining/kitchen area and 2 bedrooms
i just rewatched the shell challange you did in may of last year and there were so many things you said "oh im gonna use that!!" and i think it would be cool if you'd make a build doing just that!! like focussing on trying to create new things we don't have in the sims instead of playability :) i think that would be a good change / practice for yourself and fun to watch for us!! especially because we have new packs and so many things changed since then, its a fun throwback

She has done a real-life house tour, and a speed-build of her house. She isn't showing the outside for privacy reasons. Also, unless your home has an extremely unusual floorplan, it would be next to impossible to track her down. Many houses in neighborhoods nowadays are identical, and built on the same plan, like apartments.

Design ideas for other apartments with a little personality you can have fun with. I wanna see the one with the chalk outline done, I hate designing that one.

She has done a real-life house tour, and a speed-build of her house. She isn't showing the outside for privacy reasons. Also, unless your home has an extremely unusual floorplan, it would be next to impossible to track her down. Many houses in neighborhoods nowadays are identical, and built on the same plan, like apartments.

I think it would be so cool if you tried doing more apartments or lots like bars and librarys (like actually building them) and even buildings that are not in the game like schools! I really like the houses you do but I think diferent lots would be a nice challenge :D

I've made such a cool modern and excentric apartment out of this one, for the university professor my student was supposed to have an affair with and then I found out the "professor job" cheat doesn't work on Sims as soon as you actively played them... really gotta hate that game, didn't play it since 😒
I wish there was more city worlds, I love the apartment idea and style much more than a house.
