Hey Billy! Awesome coverage. We appreciate you informing the public about how to use the Beacon. I noticed you had some trouble with the drag and drop feature on the Beacon. Contrary to some people calling the Beacon a “magic wand” we like to call it think of it like dragging and dropping on a PC. Simply point at Skydio 2, hold the Skydio button, point to where you want Skydio 2 to fly, and let go of the button. Hopefully this helps!
Still the best video I've found on this topic ~ only one suggestion to add regarding subject identification after takeoff: When you hand launch using the remote, skydio 2 elevates to its position and then immediately turns around and faces where it launched from and so far it has correctly found me immediately every time. Wow! You covered a lot of ground in that video Billy. Nicely done....charging my Skydio2 up this evening (w/ beacon). Will be taking for a ride tomorrow on my OneWheel XR. Saw yours took a dive the other day...hopefully Skydio gets you a replacement soon. Looks like they've been updating the firmware quite a bit. Maybe some more fixes coming down the pike.....
Great tutorial with LOTS of information. My only beef is that Billy absolutely flies through the info so fast I can't process it quickly enough. I guess I'll just have to watch it a few times and pause it if I get stuck. Otherwise, a very helpful video.
I also ordered the Skydio2 and I am glad I am in the 3rd batch so I can see all the reviews. The drone itself is awesome, but needs so many fixes. The setup for both the beacon and the controller seems so cumbersome. Negative things about the Beacon: NO RTH..The Controller. Shows no height or distance. Like Swayzie Express mentioned. Not 100% sold. Billy..Thank you so much for your review. I also just subscribed.
that is a good point Greg. I think on some of the videos I watched the Drone lost it's tracking target due to a lost signal. I have seen a lot of people keep looking back to see if the drone was still following. In any case I do remember that the beacon would notify you. Thanks for you reply. Have a great holiday.

Great information. May I ask some questions. (1)I is it a good choice to shoot me practicing indoor ballroom dancing ? (2) is it quiet or noisy for 5his situation? (3) can it Be preset to stay in one spot and or just moving in a fixed track (like flying along a strait line parallel to the side wall. (4) if it is not suitable, do you know of a model that is best suit for 5his application (following= an indoor sport activity with generation too loud noise)
Is there a way to adjust the distance the Skydio flies out when doing a dronie? Would be nice to have it go out quite a bit farther to get a more dramatic affect. I didn't see anything in the guide, so maybe it's not possible?

Could the beacon be used to track an object such as a building. For example, I need to shoot cinematic shots off a corporate HO could I place the beacon near the front door and use some of the skills to get nice footage, and keep the building in the frame without having to create those shots manually using the controller??
Is there anyway to raise the height or lower the drone with the beacon? It seems when I use the + or - it just decreases or increases its distance from you and not really the height (kind of does both) I see there is manual mode to lift it, but would it keep that same height when you put it to say fixed angle?
Is there a feature that if it takes off and enters interference that it lands? You just have no control over the drone with the beacon. You are relying on tech AI. There has to be an Emergency stop feature?
Hello, I have a Samsung Note20 5G phone, the Skydio app has been installed without problems, but I can't do the optical motion track, when the drone sees me, or sees a car, a bike, or a group of people, it applies a "+" on each of them, but if I click on them, nothing happens, the spinning trail I’m expecting to see, does not appear around the subject, So I’m missing the best features of the skydio, orbit, dronie etc., only the cable mode works, to be motion-tracked I must do it on the beacon ... does anyone else have this issue?

Well it is interesting but I’m not very impressed yet. Still kind of a one trick pony. I hope you have the remote on order because without a remote it has limited appeal unless you are some kind of athlete. The remote is essential and will be needed to compare the DJI drones.

Nice tutorial on how to use the Beacon. I think that it can be a very useful device for helping you to pilot the Skydio 2.

Since the Beacon is used for tracking at relatively close distance (less than 100 feet) why would a RTH button be needed?
