    Nice to know that the Xeon CPU will work on the Lenovo motherboard. I will be installing 2 x i7-4790 & i7-4770 in three M83's soon. Paired with an EVGA GTX 1060 6GB, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD. Prices for all have gone down a fair amount since 2020! I won't be putting as much effort into refinishing the case (you did a great job), but I will be installing a 90mm air intake fan in the front of the case.

      @@DLMtechgarage Hey I’m a streamer and content creator. I recently purchased this exact Lenovo with the same i3 and other specs. I’m a licensed electrician with some iT experience from years ago. But I bought it for the same idea to upgrade and make it my first gaming pc. My question is, what upgrades do you recommend other then the ones you did but to give me the ability to play AAA games like COD & Warzone. Also I absolutely love how you added the glass to give it a more modern gaming pc look, but is it possible if I remove the dvd drive if I could cut a bigger window, and where did you purchase the rubber trim and plexiglas from? Thanks so much for this video. I subscribed and definitely turned that bell notification fully on, also saved this video to my channel being that I’m going to probably rewatch multiple times for reference

    • @DLMtechgarage
      @DLMtechgarage  2 года назад

      @@dr_gonzocmg5589 possibilities are endles my friend. you can cut a bigger window but be mindful of the latch mecahnism and make sure you have anough for the glass to adhere to. the trim I got from amazon and the plexiglas from lowes which is my local hardware store. will post a link to the trim. only reason i use the trim is because I don't have good cutting skills but if you get a solid steady cutting had then it looks cleaner without it. especially if you file and smooth the edges. for upgrades it just depends on your budget and ofcourse graphics card availibitliy. you can go i7 or xeon equivalent. I personally like the xeons as I am all about the better bagn for the buck. for graphics. the smaller the card the better as the card will interfere with the usb. I would recommend something like a 1660 or 2060. max out the ram. run ssd's and it's a solid rig. thanks for the support for the channel and don't hesistate to reach out if you have anymore questions.

      Yea I have built in that one before. It's very tight to build in, limited air flow and the power supply is not bad but limits the type of gaming build you can do. I would probably use it more for an Office PC build using a low end gpu. For more modest pc gaming that case will def cause some heating issues and limit the type of gpu you can use. It's not a bad case for a beginner and low end gaming pc but not one I would use for a typical pc gamer. Thanks watching!

    I went back and watched all of your content, really enjoyed it. I do have two questions that you could make clear. One is the windows cut outs. Are you using 1/4 inch fuel line cut down the middle them pressed onto the cut out to line it with the rubber, so that the metal does not have sharp edges ? You mentioned that you sell your computers on Facebook Marketplace, the example I was watching you sold the computer for $250.00, Does the shipping then get paid by the buyer and added to the price, so $250 + shipping ? and these Mid Towers are heavy so does the buyer end up paying around $50 more dollars for shipping ?
    Where else do you sell ? I started out long ago using Ebay and Paypal but they take to much of the profit and make it not worth the effort unless you get the office PC for free. I hope you have time to answer these questions because I have stopped building because of not having a place to sell and I miss the fun of a successful, nice looking, once boring office PC turned into a gamer.
    I really liked the change up on the window cut out above, I liked the smaller, different location, nice office pc upgrade.

    • @DLMtechgarage
      @DLMtechgarage  3 года назад +2

      I use these edge trim I found on Amazon. Works great. They hide my jagged edges due to my lack of cutting skill lol... I then use a hot glue gun to glue the glass to the trim and case. Link below. I only sell on Facebook and do in person pick up. they meet at my house so they can see the computer in action. I don't do shipping. Did it once and it was a disaster. Shipping damage and a shady buyer scared me for life!! Now I occasionally sell individual parts on ebay but never a whole computer. You can loose profit because of the shipping and buyers won't pay your asking price because of the shipping. Computers sell quick and I get my price I want by avoiding online. When I did sell that one time, the buyer paid for shipping and I paid for insurance which saved me in the end. Asking the buyer to pay insurance ups the price and deters people due to the increased price.
      I only stick to selling on Facebook. In my experience, the other selling apps or more sketchy. At least with facebook you can sometimes learn a little more about the seller and or buyer by viewing their page. For example, if they don't have a profile picture I won't sell to them or If I see something on their page that's inappropriate or illegal I won't sell to them, plus the buyer/seller selling rating helps give a little more piece of mind. Since doing it this way, I have a good seller rating and have developed a community where people buy from me and become return customers. I make them come to me and never go to them. Remember, they want your product!!
      The case window with the RGB is honestly the key to selling these computers. I have sold computers like this soo much quicker and for my asking price compared to non rgb window oem office pc's. I have tools and plexiglass is relatively cheap if you need it for multiple projects. I then buy my rgb from ebay for like $5. These two mods always get me my asking price. Had a PC with some awesome specs sit around for a month before it sold and I was selling it for a steal of a price. The RGB window which was a low level entry pc sold a day after listed and that's always the case.
      Honestly Facebook is the way to go in selling and I have had good success with it plus you build your community with it. Lot's of my buyers end up friending me, subscribe to the channel and then call me for repairs, builds and recommend me to others. Hope this helps! Always glad to answer questions!

      I use a dremmel with a metal cutting bit, make sure you have a bunch as it burns through them quickly, I lately got a grinder and have been using that, faster but a little less precise. the glass was just plexy glass I got at my local hardware store, they typically can cut it to size for you or you have to buy a sheet and usea cutting tool they sell for it. I use the edge trim and will post a link below. they bite on good and a dab or gorilla glue where they meet holds them well. Then to hold the glass on I typically use silicon glue and it works.

Keep in mind the length of the video card though as the longer cards tends to conflict with the front usb connector on the board making it not usable, but if your not concerned about the front usb then your good. This case has pretty decent ventilation and you can add a front case fan to the front to help with temps if they become an issue. Thanks for watching and keep me posted on how you upgrades go!

      honestly, I totally forgot to install it in the build and did not realize it to after I edited and uploaded the video but yes it will work fine and when I sold it I used the cooler master cooler.. as far as the coolers with dell and lenovo, you can use them in either system as long as the screw mounts for the fan are not part of the case, if so then you can't or would have to get some nuts to make it work.

      no apoligies, i enjoy helping out. the power supply should be fine as that is a low powered gpu. as faar as the best cpu, depending on price i would go with the i7 but if the price is high then the xeon alternatives are great bang for the buck and only slighly slower. If your gonna upgrade the cpu, you might wanna upgrade the psu as the i7 and xeon draw more power and might put you on that power limit.

    I love these budget builds you make. I am planning on upgrading a super budget gaming pc I put together using a Lenovo M83 board and an i3 4130, intended to run Minecraft and light games. But two cores just really isn't enough anymore and I'd like to upgrade to at least a hyperthreaded quad core. I know that this board has limitations due to a proprietary locked bios that restricts cpu options. The Xeon you used in this vid would be perfect but I wanted to ask if you've had any experience with other xeons on the M83 boards, and if so, which ones would I actually be able to use because i7 4790's are actually pretty expensive at times. Thanks 👍

    • @DLMtechgarage
      @DLMtechgarage  3 года назад

      Thanks! xeon is the way to go. They have the price and the performance compared to a i7 is very minute. The xeon e3 1240 v3 goes toe to toe with the i7 and the price to performance is def there. I have used the less expensive 1220 v3 but then you get farther away from the i7 performance. the only other faster xeon I have used is the e3 1245 v3 which is also a good bang for the buck cpu, past that i have not tried any others but have read faster versions of the e3 v3 series work.
