Hi Katherine, juz to let you know: at 14.47 ... thatz a pagoda made entirely of stone ( no nails ) during the beginning of the Ming Dynasty and at 14.56 ,,, that one tree ( the great great great grandfather ) was planted by Emperor Zhu Yuan Zhang, the founder of Ming Dynasty. I was there in 1997 on a business trip from South East Asia, never thought I would see it again in your video. They really preserved and take care of the pagoda and trees very well throughout the centuries from Ming Dynasty to Qing Dynasty to Revolutionary China to World War 2 to present Chinese government. Thanks!
amazing, thanks for the background info! we were so caught up filming stuff about CNY that we didn't even look into the history of the local architecture 😭😂
Thanks for the info. Isn't there a military garrison from the Qing era in Quanzhou? And the Ming shipyard and dock where Zhang He sailed to South East Asia and Africa?
Quanzhou was the great emporium of the Maritime Silk Road during the Song-Yuan-Ming periods. The city & the surroundings of Quanzhou are the ancestral homes 老家 to the millions of global Hokkien diaspora 🙏
True! The Han Chinese of this area should be proud but tragically, this part of China produced a lot of "SPINELESS" descendants. From Burma to Indonesia, many overseas Chinese from this area easily forget about their roots. Another prime example is the people of Taiwan. These people have one thing in common. They have a strong inferiority complex.
As an ethnic Chinese from Singapore, I think it's incredibly silly for Mainland Chinese to be caught up with this Pinyin semantics. We getting 2nd hand embarrassment here. If you're so upset with people saying "dragon" as the translated word for "loong", then stop using other English words in the same sentence. Stick wholly to Pinyin if you want to be such a purist.
