I’d love to see a video where the odds of getting shinies and the odds of regular color Pokémon are swapped for an episode. And you lose when you encounter a normal color Pokémon
That would be way too easy tho. In a normal playthrough it's very unlikely that you even have 1000 Pokémon battles. So if aren't actually shiny-hunting for hours on end, the chances are pretty low that you actually encounter a shiny or, in this case, anything but a shiny.
I always pick the grass starter. I always say I’m gonna pick another type but when they line up, the green ones are just too cute to pass up 😅 I do choose the other types when I replay the games tho

As children and has continued into adulthood, my brothers and I would each pick a starter. In most of the games, I have had every grass except Chespin and Grookey in the first playthroughs. It is interesting to hear what people did as kids, how they chose a starter if their siblings or friends played the games.
Imagine the odds of getting a shiny zigzagoon AND your starter being shiny? Also imagine the reaction that John would've made if this happened during the video at the moment he got shiny zigzagoon.

7:05 Yes, my sister and I are like this. For 90% of the games I’ve always picked the fire starter and she’s always picked the grass starter. The only exceptions being Gen 2 and Gen 4 where we switched types and she picked the fire type instead! I’ve always just looked at it as Fire is always on of the rarest types to find in the wild and all the fire starters have amazing designs! ((I probably would’ve picked the fire type too in the other generations if it weren’t for the fact my sister pick it first))
Yeah, even if fire wasn't my favourite type, I'd probably often pick the fire starter. Especially cemented after the fiasco that was Sinnoh where you either had Rapidash or bust (and I just don't particularly like Rapidash). At least in plat, they added Flareon (lol), Houndoom (good) and Magmortar (also good, but iirc you got the evo item only off wild Magmar or something), which while better, still was very meager.
I usually pick the Fire starter, not because I hate the Grass or Water starters, but I just like the Fire starter better. My all time favorite starter is Infernape. I did, however, pick Chikorita in Soul Silver, Snivy in Black/White and Black/White 2 and Froakie in Y. I also plan on picking Sprigatito in Scarlet/Violet, so I do sometimes pick others. In fact, funny enough, Water is the starter I've picked the least. Which is ironic considering blue is my favorite color.
i have used consecutive grass type starters in: ultra moon, let's go(i immediately got a bulbasaur and never caught any other starter for the playthrough), and shield
Ooh, John, I had a suggestion for you! I love the concept of this video, but how to expand on it? Make it an extended, multivideo race! After beating a gym, you can save, so your reset point advances every time. First to beat Wallace (over the course of 8-10 videos, maybe!) is the true winner!
Just decrease the odds to 1/200 or 1/250, but no resetting to the last save. They could get almost all the way through the game and then have to restart from the beginning! It would be _amazing._

Wow! I never expected to hear something that instantly reminds me of my childhood while attempting my first nuzlocke (bet I'll regret it cause I get very attached to all my pokemon). Anyway, back when Sliver and gold came out, I finally got into Pokemon and was given Sliver for my birthday. My two older brothers were already into pokemon and were each given gold. I was a possessive little brat and didn't want to share my starter, thus demanding rules to our pokemon picks! After a game of rock-paper-siccors the order was set. First, my brother picked the fire type. Second, my eldest brother picked water type. So I, yes me, was left with Grass! For the next few years whenever I started any pokemon game (along with my brothers) we'd stick to our types. This did stop after my big brothers stopping playing the games after X and Y. Still though, I see grass starters as "mine". They hold a very unique place in my heart: that selfish little girl in me giggles when I pick the grass starter of any generation.

Picking Grass in every generation. The only cases I don't pick grass type is when the generation gets another game like emerald, platinum, black 2 and white 2 and pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of the sky Favourite Grass type Trecko, I can not say one is below the rest, probably the Kalos one that should have been grass and steel instead of grass and fighting
Honestly, I used to always pick the fire type starter. It was back when my favorite Pokemon was Charizard, then Quilava, so I had a weird bias towards fire types. So I picked Torracat for my first playthrough of Pokemon Sun, then I continued until I decided to quit the weird bias. I'm relieved it wasn't present when I started Pokemon Black. Or even Ultra Moon! Now who I consider my main Pokemon, Declan the Decidueye, exists. And he's awesome.
I pick the starter I like the most Gen 1: bulbasaur Gen 2: cyndaquill Gen 3: mudkip Gen 4: turtwig Gen 5: oshowatt Gen 6: fenniken Gen 7: popplio Gen 8: garooky Gen 9: sprigatito, breaks the even amount of fire, water, grass but I love it

I always and will ALWAYS choose froakie and mudkip
Same, except for Charmander and Froakie.
The Fox Kit oh I'm surprised someone didn't choose froakie. It's basically the best starter in kalos in MY opinion
I pick fire
Grass is definitely my favorite of the starters. I’ve always picked them at least once per generation.
Mines water
The legendary shiny luck worked against John this time 😂
I always pick the grass type starters because they normally have better and cooler designs, my favourites are Rowlet, Bulbasuar and Grooky so thank you for acknowledging grass type lovers
I really enjoy these videos. Also I’ve never seen someone be upset when faced with a shiny.
Picking Grass in every generation. The only cases I don't pick grass type is when the generation gets another game like emerald, platinum, black 2 and white 2 and pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of the sky
Favourite Grass type Trecko, I can not say one is below the rest, probably the Kalos one that should have been grass and steel instead of grass and fighting
The editing on this video is perfection
This gives me flashbacks to when I found a shiny poochyena when you get your starter
I legit cried
You two should do one of these with Jack his reactions would be hilarious
Since emerald I’ve always picked grass. Even Chespin. Yeah. That’s commitment
Nah Chesnaught is cool ^_^
Bulbasaur is always my No1 choice
I choose almost everytime the grass type starter in gen 1 i like squirtle
My first starter was grookey
My first was Oshawott
Squirtle is grass type
@@groot6989 squirtle is water type
@@groot6989 Squirtle is a water type..
I dont only pick grass starters, buy I pick them the most.
In sinnoh I always use turtwig
I pick the starter I like the most
Gen 1: bulbasaur
Gen 2: cyndaquill
Gen 3: mudkip
Gen 4: turtwig
Gen 5: oshowatt
Gen 6: fenniken
Gen 7: popplio
Gen 8: garooky
Gen 9: sprigatito, breaks the even amount of fire, water, grass but I love it
