This movie turned into a comedy halfway through because of how ridiculous the storyline became. It was as if every new event in the movie had to top the previous one in craziness.
Because plot armor, but damn it is silly
The giant flying hippos from Neptune was where I checked out
I actually really enjoyed the movie. Sure the story wasn't that deep to say the least, but still entertaining imo
I dunno, I found it kind of fun to see that some ancient civilization created AI which (of course) went crazy and that's what's going on. Although saying there was a white dwarf in the center was a bit over the top.
Also to add to that when a great disaster is happen...the people are just causally going on about their own little problems like they not even worried the world is on the brink of extinction.
Science in this movie hits the bottom.
In fact, Moon should've been destroyed by Earth gravitational force halfway.
Also I liked "Moon touched the Earth, and they decided it was time to launch nukes"
Lol. Launchung nukes in the moon is like trying to destroy a mountain trying to shot it with a pistol.
RIGHT?!?! also "after the AI was destroyed the moon went back into orbit".... euh no? like do you guys know what gravity is? basic science guys!!! XD
@@SumptuaryFive5 True. The Moon would just crash anyway. Earth magnetic field would forever messed up.

I guess they're trying to get to the side of the earth that the moon doesn't collide with. Not that that will help a lot anyways.

They said that humanity’s ancestors lived on a different planet with technology we haven’t even dreamed of yet, so with that technology they could’ve made the moon immune to the Roche limit.

If you watch the movie it's a megastructure the mass increases and so does the gravity and at one point the gravity becomes 80% that of earth which is why it could fight back Earth's gravity it's not the moon we know

Moon gravity pulls oceans off the Earth's surface, but clouds and atmospheric air are unaffected. I hate gravity that discriminate on basis of mass and density.
It has a volume problem.
@@vilheard3030 well that’s how tides work, tides are caused by the fluctuations of gravity as the moon orbits the earth so if you increase that gravity by a large portion, then the tides become much higher eventually leading to them lifting into the sky.
I have not seen this film. Apparently not many have either. If moon is close enough to start pulling ocean water of Earth's surface , it will also pull atmosphere, creating an extreme low pressure weather system. As atmospheric air rushes into low pressure , extreme weather events would take place. A hypercane , a supersonic hurricane, would be one. Wind speeds in excess of 600 mph. Tornadoes and cyclones in excess of F5.
For certain moon superproximity would create gravitational tidal forces on Earth's crust, accelerating continental drift, causing exaggerated earthquakes, volcanic eruptions. End of the world type events. The enlarging proximity of moon will cause extreme solar eclipses and magnified solar occlusion effects, as loser moon casts a shadow , reducing amount of light reaching Earth. If moon broke up due to gravitational tidal forces and forms a ring around Earth's equator, reduced sunlight and permanent gravitational effects , but spread out across equatorial surface. Eventually many pieces would enter Earth's atmosphere causing bolide collisions . Multiple extinction level collision events , but happening in succession across centuries or millenia. Earth would become uninhabitable to life. At least not to life as we currently have. Last time Earyh was subject to that level of bolide bombardment, was 4.5 billion years ago after proto-earth collided with proto-planet Thea. The result was our Earth and moon. That bombardment seeded Earth with water and basic amino acids and minerals that Eventually formed first life.

Yikes. You have terrible taste
Roland Emmerich's movies are such popcorn binge inducing. Actually physics are somewhat respected since the moon's mass is altered, it's outer shell is destroyed, revealing its inner core at the end. But sure the tidal wave is "weird" as it can lift water but not as much rip the atmosphere apart, yet oxygen is depleted, leading to the death of one of the secondary character. The moon up close can lift cars like it counters Earth's own gravity like is has now weaker than the moon's. But again, it is "normal", it's a Roland Emmerich's movie after all. Was great and fun to watch.

This is the ending sam deserved after season 8 of GOT
Lol, forgot where I knew him
So what their saying is that there was technology to make the moon a megastructure, hyper space travel, and nano technology AI. But there wasn't an EMP?
Exactly. If our ancestors were so advanced, even billions of years in the past, did they not think to have some kind of failsafe for the AI technology? Why did it only take an EMP for the entire AI nano technology to be destroyed for good? This whole movie contradicts itself and science
@@dynastyandrews2416 also they just casually upgrade the EMP...
@@dynastyandrews2416 for the sake of plot 😂
well, the AI shown in this film is smaller than the past one, so maybe they had emps but not suitable ones. Think about it, the AI was probably smart enough to build EMP resistant nanobots. Why did this one work? probably because the moon designed one specifically to kill it.
It is likely that the EMP technology did exist, but the movie explains that the AI was "everywhere, it was in every facet of life and used for everything". That was how it was even able to rebel in the first place. Humanity of the past tried absolutely everything they could think of to combat the AI, and nothing proved effective. In the end, their only solution was to create Ark Ships to reseed their species and "safeguard them" to some extent. Basically... just hide them.
The AI onboard the Moon even states that "this is just a tendril" of the other AI. A small portion of it that was dispatched to wander the galaxy in search of humanity. It was a small enough swarm that it COULD be stopped with an EMP... but they had to come very close to a failure point for that to even work. Even then, it almost didn't.
It's always weird to me how many people didn't watch the actual movie, but instead watch a "recap" which omits lots of details for a "rough synopsis" and then go, "but... X doesn't make sense!". I mean... if you watched the movie and paid attention... yeah it does.
Despite how absolutely bonkers pretty much every Emmerich film ends up being, the man has a lot of "attention to detail" in just telling a story. Does he not know how physics work? Yes. Does he take a lot of artistic license with things for the sake of stunning visuals? Absolutely. Does he not care about "how does this make sense from a larger worldbuilding standpoint"? Absolutely not. But, he will tell you a tight and contained story that works only on the internal level and do it well. Every plot point within his movies is explained within his movies and all contingencies to what someone might "nitpick" about the story are covered within the story. It's a complete tale, even if the larger implications of a universe outside the movie renders it all nonsensical.
Always remember, never combine AI and nanomachines or else you get a grey goo scenario.
New York being destroyed is always a happy way to end any movie 😀

There's a dwarf star at the center of the moon in the movie. And they've built dyson sphere to harness it's energy. I believe no one is stupid enough here not to know that if an object needs to become a star it has to be atleast 80 Jupiter masses. And white dwarf is the end of the star when it begins it's cool down from the white drawf to a black dwarf. So it's a mega structure which should have enough control and density to move back to it's position. The science is complete BS I'll agree to that but I love the Dyson sphere part ngl.
Eh. Its not impossible for a dwarf star to be that small, and the only requirement for that is a relatively small amount of matter in the star to begin with.

As history channel would say "It was aliens"
I hate when movies show a smaller than earth object overpowering earth's gravity, making people start to fall upwards towards it. It makes no sense, as long as the earth is bigger than the other object, you wouldn't fly, you would just become lighter. Independence day 2 was the worst offender in that regard
Well to be fair independence day 2 the ships were using anti gravity drives.
@@vidiveniviciDCLXVI Doesn't matter. If the gravity force it generated was stronger than earth's the ENTIRE earth would be displaced by it, not just cars and passersby.

@@vidiveniviciDCLXVI What does that have to do with anything? We know how gravity works. How to go from Type 0.71 Civilization all the way to Type 2 civilization overnight. If you can build a planet sized ship. You can harness the suns energy no problem.
Sick recap, dunno about movie tho
It’s just called 2 brothers 😂
I actually legit just watched this movie an hour ago… and here is this video. In my recommended
I honestly loved this recap 🙌
Fr right!
It’s a good movie! Some parts of the movie are explained in the wrong order though, like when Sonny gets trapped by a fallen tree, the narrator goes directly into the part when the team inside the moon has destroyed the AI swarm.
I've been hearing about this movie lol. Wanted to see if it was as bad as they said.
Sadly it's not even the worse movie Emmerich has ever made.
the first half of the movie was okay while the rest of the movie was complete bs. I thought it was just going to be a disaster movie like Greenland, but they had to ruin it with aliens and "ancient ancestors." I've seen much better.
How does the moon go back into correct orbit...??
Seriously! Just zippity-dodo-da it’s back to normal.
Space magic
Because it's not even a moon to begin with its a freaking giant death star like ship.
it's a fucking space engine, what did you expect?
It's funny he should title the video with "ending life as we know it" since there's actually a completely unrelated book called Life As We Knew it about the moon getting knocked closer to earth. But there are no astronaut nonsense storyline like here
we need a moonfall sequel!!
I don’t think so
