    Very clever way to reduce the tension on the limbs! Great idea. Thanks so much for these videos!

      That means a lot to me. Not everyone feels as you do. I wouldn’t recommend it if I thought it wasn’t a good and safe way to string a doll. Especially for the doll.😉❤️

      That is the greatest compliment, as I was hoping this video would encourage people to try and restring their doll. I know that these kind of things can be daunting to someone who hasn’t tried to restore a doll before. Thank you!

    Hi @RGU-eh3yt. I tried to answer your question directly to your comment, but for some reason I can’t. I even got an email notification of your comment which how I know you left one. I guess I will have to contact RUclips. The website for the bands is www.dollydelights.com I understand about trying to find good bands. This is only website that has ones I like. If you look in the description on the video I put the information on where to find the things use. I hope this helps, and you find this comment. 😁

      Welcome! I am so happy that you enjoyed my video. I just love taking an unwanted or neglected doll and bringing it back to “life”. I restore many things but dolls are my favorite.

    Recently subscribed to your channel and am so pleased to have found it. I have 2 Toni dolls that need restringing. This video was extremely clear and I appreciate having the source and size for the bands shown onscreen. I’m assuming a similar system will work for my Mary Hoyer dolls as well. Thanks very much.

      So happy you subscribed! I hope you will find lots helpful info, and maybe enjoy some of our video’s too. As long as she has the same bars and hooks like this Toni it will be same. I don’t have a Mary Hoyer yet😍. I would not surprised if one finds her way her eventually. They usually do.😂 Welcome!

    How do I determine what size rubber bands to use? For instance, I want to restring my MA Kelly dolls, 15" and 20" sizes - so how can I tell which bands to use?

    • @DIYDollArtist
      @DIYDollArtist  3 месяца назад

      I will try to answer your question because it is a bit difficult to answer without seeing the doll. I will try to explain . I assume you watched the restringing video and you saw the sizes I used. But a doll of that height could be much thinner or wider that would effect what size bands to use. I ran into that problem on another Ideal p 90. I used the exact same bands I do for that size and type of dolls. but she was loose . They made the later Toni’s a bit smaller they also gave this one longer S hooks . so I had to give her small s hooks to make the proper band fit. On a bigger toni I use 2 big bands but it depends on the shooks and the width of the doll wether to use a medium or the next size smaller to string the arms. You can see that there are several factors that effect the choice of which size bands to use. The only thing I can suggest is to have extra s hooks on Hand and have 3 to 4 sizes of bands . With the heights you mentioned . From the vender we buy the lot of 50 and the sizes we get are the 3 largest sizes . but if you have narrow dolls the Next size down might be helpful as well. I’m so sorry it couldn’t be a more simple answer. Each doll that we restore has it challenges. Because little changes in this or that and then you just have to find a solution. I hope this help a little but wish it could have been more.🤔🥰

    my doll's eye sticks, on my vintage tony doll. how do you fix it.

    • @DIYDollArtist
      @DIYDollArtist  Год назад +1

      I’m not sure if you mean that her eye opens an close’s but sometimes It needs help to do that sometimes. if that is what you are referring to it can be helped. you pull up her head up and let her head rest on the back edge of her neck. there is a weighted bar that makes her eye open and close. use you finger to gently move it up and down to try and get it to stop it from sticking. Then return her head to its proper position. There are other reasons that an eye can stick as well . I would have to see it to help you any further. also if your doll still has its original stringing. this procedure could make the rubber band snap. All strung dolls of that age need to be restrung because the rubber rots over time. do not do this procedure if your doll is a walker. it would take a professional to fix the problem.

      Hi Sharon. I am a fairly new subscriber. This is great! I just bought my first Toni doll. You mention cleaning and sealing the inside. I was wondering if you have a tutorial or one you can recommend? Thank you. ❤

    I’ve been restringing my vintage Pedigree doll. Every time I do it her head tilts down. I can move her head up but it still wants to tilt down. What am I doing wrong?

      what is the size or height of your doll ? The 3 bands we use in the video are for 14” and 16”. Your dolls s hook could be in a different location than the ones in the video, instead of a small medium and large band . you could need 2 large one small . Because I can’t see inside her head I’m not sure what’s the problem. but I always use a magic eraser to really clean the inside opening of the dolls head and the part of the neck where the neck and head connect. sometimes there is residue still in those areas even after cleaning that makes the head drop forward even if you use the right bands for the right size doll. if you still are having a problem let me know and we will try and figure it out with you.🥰
