Thanks. I tried to get the feeling I got with my old Heritage. However, after making all the changes, it still was not the bike for me. It’s a fantastic bike and as a “sport Touring” bike it works well. I tried to turn it into a long distance touring bike. But it could not measure up to my Road Glide Special. So, a couple of weeks ago, I sold it to a guy from Alberta. From what he told me, I think he will love it. So now I just have my RG and my Pan America. Thanks for watching. All the best. Cal
Didnt know this video existed. i literally just did this 2 weeks ago to my el diablo.. before this i tried moving from mid to foward and still wasnt comfortable. I'm an older HD rider and a HUGE fan of boards - they are super comfortable. it took me 2 revisions to get it right but now its perfect. its too bad i had to do so much wowrk to do in order to get the riding position right but it is what it is and i'm glad HD has many positions in the frame and the parts to be able to set up it up for your riding comfort.
Thanks Joe. Like you, I thought of buying a forward controls kit but I really wanted the full floorboards. I’m really happy with the result. Thanks for watching.
Hi Snowbird Thanks for your videos enjoy them very much I too have a st and want to put forward controls and floor boards on can you put a list of part numbers up for me thankyou Paul uk 👍👍
I have not been able to post the list here, however I’ve posted a list on FB. Here’s a link: 📸 Look at this post on Facebook facebook.com/share/xWdapamHnFaNF1ry/?mibextid=QwDbR1
Thanks for documenting this conversion, very helpful. I may do this in the future to my 2022 Low Rider ST (I've already put 22,000 mile on it!). I just got back from a coast to coast and back trip (MD to CA and back) on the Low Rider ST. I like the mids for shorter spirited rides, but this setup would be more comfortable for touring. I do have a mustache engine guard with highway pegs that help a little. Thanks again for posting.
Nice trip. I haven’t done any long distance rides on mine yet. Hopefully that will change this summer. Highway pegs really help on those long rides. I plan to add them as well. Thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it.
Great video!! I too thought the Heritage parts would be a good fit. Searched for videos and found you! Thank you! My remaining issue is the hole through the primary cases. 1) I can't find the plug anywhere, and 2) Isn't there a hole left in the inside primary case? What keeps the crap out of the primary?
Thanks Larry. I haven’t taken it for a test ride since the conversion, but I can tell from just sitting on it in the garage that it will give me a much more comfortable seating position.
I noticed you switched out the air cleaner. I got the forward controls ordered. I've heard that the original cleaner will get in the way of reaching the brake...and I've heard it doesn't.
I had heard that it got in the way as well. I also did not like the stock air cleaner. I found this one on EBay and decided to change it. I did not check to see if it was required. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
I like the custom side covers and tourpak trunk painted to match. How much extra did that cost you? Are you gonna add an Advanblack chin fairing color matched? Have you done a stage 2 upgrade, if so, what intake, cam, pipes & tune did you use.? I love your bike . I wish Harley would've kept the analog tank speedo on this model in addition to the micro digital unit on the risers. Good video.
I have not compared the mounting points on the 2019 frame with the 2022 ST. However, I believe they are the same. The same Softail frame is used in both. I’m sorry that I can’t give an answer with absolute certainty. Thank you for watching.
Did the install exactly how you did it and couldn't be more happier. I'm 6' and my hips were killing me with those mids. To me they were to high and to far back. It made a world of difference, thank you. Only problem I'm experiencing is with finding neutral with this new setup. Been up and down adjusting the shifter rod but it hasn't made much difference. Did you encounter the same problem?
The reason that I could use the Heritage brackets and floorboards is because both the Heritage and the low Rider ST share the same Softail frame. The mounting points on the frame are pre drilled to accept either. The mid controls have a single mounting point and further forward on the frame are the two for the Heritage bracket. I don’t know of any aftermarket bracket that could be used with the Heritage floorboards. Several companies offer mini floorboards to replace the pegs. That may be your only solution. Thank you for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it, and I’m sorry that I cannot be of more assistance.

Really glad I found this video, how long did it take to get the forward controls and boards on? I just got my low rider st and I’m not happy with the mid controls. I was going to buy the forward controls kit and powder coat it black but everything you’ve listed is already black! Many thanks
Nice work. Are the heritage floorboards on the lowrider st just as comfortable as your heritage. Love my heritage but want to buy an st and do the floorbaords.
Hi. I found the floorboards and the riding position similar to the Heritage. The handling is a little different because of wider back tire and smaller radius front. The riding position with the stock handlebars is different. To change this you would need to add risers or change the handlebars. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thanks Anthony. I have the list on my Snowbird Biker FB page. Here’s a link: m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0ZgHGvBpm1Vvk9EVNGpPZcheubJpLZghF61JUcAjU3GhSKtequqkQAtRT5Jc35hu8l&id=100064843898143&mibextid=qC1gEa
Awesome Job. Hope you enjoy the ride better now. I might be wrong, but don't you need a plug on the backside where you removed the original shift linkage?
Thanks, the ride is much better. Yes, a plug is required to cover the hole after removing the original shifter. I did show it in the video starting at 5:55. Is that what you were referring to? Thank you for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it.
@@rickh.959 Good point. I didn’t think of it. When I went over all the parts needed for the conversion the parts guy just mentioned the one plug. I’ll check to see if there is one available. Lol, it’s going to be a real pain getting it in there!! Thanks.
Hey Rick, your question re the back plug got me so intrigued that I visited the local dealer. I talked with parts manager who got one of the senior techs involved. I was told that they have never installed a back plug in any of the forward control jobs they have completed. Word from Harley is that it’s not required. I think I may install one anyway. Just giving you the info that I received.
Now that looks awesome! I know the feeling of the comfort the Heritage provides.........so I totally get this. Great job on this!

Great video! I look forward to checking out your page Cal. Your a fountain of knowledge & I need to learn how to look after my own bike!
Thanks Donna. It’s good to learn some basic skills, especially if you do much solo riding.

my foot peg bracket bolts were T47 not T45. T45 fit loose and might work but the T47 fits tight and wont strip.
This is awesome!! Do you have a parts list for this?!

I really like you sharing.i have a 2022 FXLRST and I love it. I love the FXRT style tour pack. Can y ask where you got it?
Thank you for commenting. I got the tour pack from Nasty Hog. Here is a link to their website. nastyhog.com/products/ltp-legacy-tour-pack
A tip for putting anything rubber on or through metal is to use soapy water. It will dry and rinse off.
I would like to have the list pieces please? Thank in advance 👍
SB great install and the bike looks awesome!!
Thank you. I appreciate your comment. I thought that recording the process may be of benefit to anyone planning to do the same as a DIY.

Great video! Will a heel shifter work with the toe one on this setup?
I haven’t tried to install one. I'd check with HD to see if the shaft is long enough. Since new softails were designed for toe shift only.
Excellent, would you happen to have a parts list for us that are looking to convert?
I do have a parts list. I’m not at home now but will send it when I return. Thanks for watching.
Did you happen to get that list ?

I assume this work for a 2022 Lowrider S setup?
Yes, both bikes are basically the same.

Yes, I saw outer plug installed, but I was referring to the inner side where shaft went through. To keep oil in, dirt out.

They are Harley Heritage floorboards. I got them from my local dealer. My El Diablo is # 1465

Thanks Rick. I’m 6 ft and have a 32 inch inseam.
