I worked out a deal with the dealership to install the forward controls ahead of time. They installed them that day before I left with the bike. every test ride with mid controls I hated them. Felt like I was being cramped way too much and could not get my feet on the ground quick enough at stop lights. Knew I'd never be happy with them so I worked it out ahead of time. Glad you like them.
Someday you will look back and think about how young you were at 53. My friend at 79 is slowing down on his bike. Great videos! Thanks for all you have shown us.
New to me. Coming off of a Suzuki Hayabusa, this is my first non-sports bike. Want to stretch out a little. I'm 6'4" tall with 34-inch inseam, so legs are flexed quite a bit. I really like your style of presenting information. You don't blah blah endlessly and you get things done. I appreciate that. Subscribing. Looking forward to seeing what other videos you've done that cover this HD. Very cool, thank you.
I was most afraid of the bolt behind the primary. That was the quarter inch allen wrench! Thank you so much for telling me the size! I almost used the wrong size. Thank you so much for this video!!!!!
You may have been able to get the blacked out kit and use a pedal extender. We put a wide brake pedal on wife’s sport glide and it fixed all her thick thigh caused issues.
I bought the Ford control kit black and based on your advice, I found the chrome one by part number on eBay for $60. I plan to make it black at some point right now I’m riding my bike with a brake I can reach. as soon as I got on the forward controls, even before the better brake pedal, I remove the heavy breather and replaced it with the ventilator, which is flat and keeps the bike narrow without banging my knee. I’ve rolled the handlebars back and I’m shopping for a horn the stock one is not good.
Sandy thanks for this info. I just got my El Diablo and I love the looks/style but honestly its the most uncomfortable bike i've ever ridden. I'm def going this route and changing to foward controls. Just super annoying to have to spend this much $$ and then a lot more to get it right. I cant imagine who rides this bike stock for any lenght of time - my legs were cramping within 20 mins.

I went with heritage, softail floorboards and forward controls, hundred percent more comfortable than pegs plus the full-size floorboard. I appreciate your videos. They have helped me so much ride safe.
You did this on the low rider st? I've been looking for a way to do this with heritage or fat boy floorboards. Any chance you'd be willing to share a parts list of what was needed?

I was watching another RUclipsr do a similar install and noticed he was using much longer than necessary extensions on is socket wrench. It really bugged me, but I figured out why while watching your video. It was so he could get a better camera angle. You might try the same with both bolts and allen and hex sockets.

Thumbs up, good content. It would be informative to know what you paid for the parts and powder coating. I have a '22 S and wonder wtf H-D was thinking regarding the rider triangle on the bike.
@devinmoore1352 Its way better then the mids. I can ride couple hours with the stock seat. But your knees will hit the aircleaner when braking unless you change that out too.
Great info regarding the 2 fwd. control kits that HD offers. Two different kits but each only available one way (chrome or black)...odd indeed. Procrasting at this time about doing same mod to my Low Rider S. Thanks for making and posting this video. My primary Harley is a '21RGS, and my secondary Harley is a '22FXLRS. I've been thinking about eliminating the mid-controls on the Low Rider S, and replacing with forward controls, purely for increased comfort (I'm 5'10", 170Lbs. and 32" inseam). I do admit to be completely spoiled by the Touring Chassis, specially with upgraded aftermarket suspension. As such, I ride the Road Glide about 75+% of the time as opposed to the softail; specially highway interstate/freeway rides. My previous softail (actually a Dyna) was a 2016 Low Rider, Black, 103 Twin Cam, and was factory forward controls; was actually very comfortable. I had an idea for you. Since you have a good relationship with ADVANBLACK, perhaps they could come up with an idea to solve the Low Rider ST headlight ring from coming off? Maybe if they made a ring with a magnetic backing or Velcro backing, perhaps fabricate a new ring with better snap in prongs so they will not pop off so easily. They may not know of the problem that this bike has.
