    HI,
    I used INVENTOR in 2019 to 2021 at Uni.
    I tried to make the gears for an internal ring gear to mesh with a spur gear.
    What a nighmare.
    I even tried to get the experts at Inventor to help with this and no one could help me.
    This was an awesome video.
    Thanks.

    Thank you. It was easy to do it with your explanation. I learned gears in FreeCAD but also understood how to calculate gears.

    Gear Diameter:
    Modules = Desired Diameter / Teeth
    Mesh Properly:
    Modules must be the same
    Position Equation: (M*(T1+T2))/2
    (Modules*(Teeth1+Teeth2))/2
    Angle Teeth:
    360/Teeth/2

      im running into an issue. i have to make a gear that is smoth on one side while the other has 9 teeth with an outside diameter of 32mm. i made a gear using 32/18 module, than made a half tube 16mm radius to cut the unwanted teeth off... the gear does not have a radius of 32... its larger than my half circle, what's wrong?

    Short and simple, thank you. I was apparently blind that i did not see the making up a gear button and now a little bit ashamed to say that i wasted my time with a cylinder and cubes.. until i just thought there must be a much simpler way in a cad program.... pff.. :)

    0:45 for anybody out there trying to get their outer diameter to be exact, the given formula in the video isn't correct.
    the formula for outer diameter is:
    OD = module * num_teeth + 2 * module
    solving for module this gives:
    m = OD / (num_teeth + 2)
    hope this helps anyone wondering why their OD isn't as expected using the formula in the video.

    • @TabletopRobotics
      @TabletopRobotics  2 года назад +1

      Yes, you are correct. Maybe I should've been more clear in my video, the diameter I was talking about was the gear pitch diameter. This equation is good to know when wanting a specific gear ratio and a have set distance between two shafts.

      @@TabletopRobotics The rest of the video was super helpful, I'm just new to this and my gear wasn't the right size so I had to do some digging and left a comment in case anybody else had the same issue.

    • @DrCaniko
      @DrCaniko 4 года назад +1

      This is also an interesting question...
      I was kinda thinking to extract from a rectangular shape and just copy it next to each other, but if there's a simpler way to do it, i would like to hear... :)

  • @jochenwolz7430
    @jochenwolz7430 3 года назад +1

    Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I don't get true involutes on a gear designed in FreeCad, but just straight lines - so the gears would not mesh correctly. Is it possible that this Gear-Design is just a rough approximation or am I missing a parameter ?

  • @wiboater4
    @wiboater4 3 года назад +2

    Thanks , good video. A little fast for me at times but I just paused , went back and rewatched til I understood what you did. I'm older and hearing isn't as great anymore. I had some trouble with the part where you divided th gear diameter by the number of teeth. It didn't work for me. I have a gear with a 36mm diameter with 13 teeth.

    One small problem for some.
    There are MANY people with poor eye site.
    We can not follow small and very fast pointers.
    At times they just disapear.
    Could you help us and make the pointer bigger.
    White pointers with a black edge works very well when they are bigger.
    Thank You,

    I need to 3D print a gear that is out of production for a lathe. I’m new to CAD in all senses so I’m trying to follow along but when I select [Cut of Two Parts] it stops working. I just installed V. 0.20 how can I get past this point?
    I also need to use US standard units for this gear: involute instead of Modulus, how can I change this?

  • @alexlo7708

    In those early version, one must draw each teeth in the sketch to made a gear.

  • @renderuthis
    @renderuthis 2 года назад

    seems to me the number of teeth is dependent. We must get paper and pencil and multiply by pi divide the pitch!!?? Im not that smart. Then it does not come out even!! ...oh i got it go backwards.

    If you need to change gear size later the gears will be missaligned :(
