Trigana Air Boeing 737-300 Unstable Approach, Serious Incident at Wamena Airport, Papua, 28 JUL 2020

- Today 34 years old Trigana Air Boeing 737-300 Cargo version skidded off Wamena’s Airport runway (WMX/WAJM. It was taking Cargo flight from Jayapura (DJJ/WAJJ) to Wamena (WMX/WAJW) carrying 14 tonnes of various goods. Left wing was damaged. Aircraft skidded runway After very unstable Approach. Indonesian National Transportation Safety Comitee opened an investigation. Crew was transported to Hospital, but without Any serious damages.
There are no reported injuries.

This is one of those cases where you can't fault the aircraft. Even us couch/sim pilots can see that this landing should have been aborted.
Unless that pilot didn't have enough fuel to go around... he has some 'splaining to do.
Whatever happened to "any landing you can walk away from is a good landing".

In papua there's lotsa plane crash, some of them because of the weather, some because airplane system malfunction, and pilot error. In that case maybe he got lost of the control and if u can see the clouds are grey (maybe some of u understand what i mean)
Weather! Exactly. There is a lot of Bad weather reports from papua. Pilot error and Aircraft malfunctions do sometimes contribute on major accidents at papua.. But usually.. The main contributor of the accident is weather

@@NicoBattelli u should go to papua specially wamrna, timika, or somewhere about near the mountain, the weather is unpredictable. If u see clear skies in 5 mins it can be haze

Maybe yes. Airlines at indonesia do sometimes give some sort of bonus if the pilots managed to land their plane faster than the estimated time arrival.
They just care about their money sometimes. Not their life...
Wamena again....It's like the Berlin Airlift over there, everything from fuel to bags of rice are air freighted. There's an accident or incident there almost every year.
Trigana where every landing is a cheating of death experience..... where do they find the ‘pilots’ for this airline?

maybe everyone should take a step back from assumptions and read offical reports? it seems this 737 has a huuuge flightdeck given how many people have apparently been sitting on all those jump seats

The guy was filming on a McDonald's close to the airport. "Turan" means "Quarter pound with cheese". The employee couldn't ear properly so he was repeating his order. "Turan, Turan, Turan! And a diet coke, please".

@@creepsardhana4459 this is not about on time, if they goround maybe it will be fatal. Wamena airport surrounding by terrain, airport elev around 5000ft, goround must steep turn to the right and in that condition low cloud its imposible. So this is not about on time.
Jordy Rumi then in the rest of the world that would have been an illegal approach. Part 121 carriers always have to be able to go around.
@@robertgary3561 Indonesia DGCA suppose to be answer that, for me my opinion this airport it's not proper for Jet (cat C&D). Maybe in normal situation still fine with some limitation but in weather like this it's better not fly.
@@10jordy There is no excuse for not going around. All runways and areas are certified for this and if it really was difficult to "go around" then the runway wouldn't be in operation. There is not abnormal weather, this is a clear definition of pilot error
Hope they didn't had issued licenses by Pakistan Aviation Authority ? This is purely missed approach and 100% go around...
