I had no idea vow of the indomitable could shut down waterfowl so efficiently, definetly the first time ive witnessed this technique. absolutely going to give it a try next time i fight malenia.
If you want to do a playthrough with Helphen's Steeple, you could try and use the death's poker until you get it. You can get it pretty easily from a Caelid deathbird, which are quite easy to kill with a +0 mace with holy blade AOW.
Yeah, I'm aware of the Poker, but it leans more towards DEX/INT compared to the Steeple's STR/INT. With the Prosthesis Heirloom, I could easily get the 17 DEX to wield the Poker but I'd want to use a Heavy-infused Bastard Sword with Chilling Mist since the moveset is similar and is as "bland" as the Steeple.
Power stancing Helphen's Steeple and doing jump attacks is really strong. The buff stays for long and is quickly reapplied. The big problemn I see with this greatsword is the lack of talismans boosting it properly. I was using Claw talisman and Magic-Scorpion charm but could find no others. So i took defensive ones which is good if you don't intend doing no hit.
Try out the Axe Talisman and Bull Goat Talisman together. While charging to break enemy Stances, you don't want to be staggered, so with BG, you can aim for 51 or 101 poise. In general, you don't want to use any of the Scorpion Charms if your main damage isn't one of the elements. Steeple utilises more physical damage, so unless you're using spells too, best to swap it out.

@@magnolia549 a good early int/str weapon is Rosus Axe found behind a stonesword key fog in black knife catacombs
@@swordaddict5679 I've never used the Rosus Axe before, should be fun.

Also I really think that they should have made it so that when you buff the weapon, the hitbox is wayyyyy bigger so you can also use it to do dmg.

Two-handed talisman. But then you obviously don't powerstance. It does the job well.
i have been using this weapon purely for its looks wish it got a buff tho its basically a weaker cold iron greatsword
