I am a 100% service connected combat veteran and while I am very grateful for the assistance the VA does offer, I struggle to understand how $48,000 a year is comparable to the income possible if I wasn't disabled due to my service. It should be at least $75,000 a year because I certainly would have earned much more without my injuries. I just do not get how the VA squares that one.. seems very dishonest and minimum for the 1% that choose to fight for the 99%. I am blessed and grateful, as I said but still. Do not throw peanuts at me and call it steak.

@@grantchatter it's not on you. It is on the VA to stop paying top executives 300,000 or more a year and start paying us what we are due. There is plenty of money in the budget, but the top players like their yachts and figure we get enough to live and that's all we deserve. It is on the politicians that get free education for their children without ever risking life and limb and steal millions from the people every chance they get. Corruption is the issue, plain and simple corruption. Every single disabled Vet deserves a minimum of 40,000 a year at 60 to 75% and at least 75,000 for 100%.

I understand why the emphasis is on 100% disability for veterans, but the operative word here is still VETERANS. Whether we actually picked up a weapon and fought, whether we incurred debilitating disabilities or not, we all still put on the uniform. Some of us are retired (military, civilian or both). We may have conditions that come with age, or latent service-connected conditions may surface. Many of us are also not as young as we used to be, though we may think it.
I have had one knee replacement so my ladder climbing days are over. I am also developing other conditions which may adversely affect my ability to help myself.
I have endured several very cold winters in a house with substandard windows. I got an estimate of $17,100.00 to replace nine of them. I would really appreciate direction toward some help!

I am a 100% connected veteran, and these "grants" have never been available for me, like many others, I was simply thrown out into the streets because I could no longer navigate the rat race physically or mentally, and the remainder of the energy, and motivation I had left after that, was spent trying to get the VA to treat me correctly, so I could break free from this rollercoaster, that never happened, and I have never, ever known a veteran, that has ever benefited from anything in this video, we get told things like this alot, but it ends up being a ruse to get our money.

@NerdCoding A member of my family runs a statewide nonprofit veteran service agency (and a Vietnam vet himself). He coordinates services for veterans, to fill in the gaps you mention. If you want to email me the state you live in, maybe I can find those services in your state, and share those contact links? My email is on the About page of the Grant Chatter site, www.youtube.com/@grantchatter/about

Great Vid as I am a 100% Service Disabled Vet. I think it's important to know that the SBA isn't very helpful or veteran friendly. In fact, everything they offer is based on either credit, financials or other qualifiers which put disabled-vets at a huge disadvantage.

@@grantchatter I am in a similar situation. I am an "older" veteran (retiree), making about $25K annually, with Social Security and my retirement pay. My disability (tinnitus) doesn't qualify for anything from VA, and I need massive repairs on my mobile home. It is structurally sound, but I need things done, such as leveling a doorway, upgraded windows, and a decent roof. The roof keeps out the elements, but is a glorified patchwork of metal, wood and shingles.
I am not in a financial position to move (not that I want to), and I can't afford what needs to be done, without incurring financial hardship on myself and my wife.

Dear Grant Chatter, I am an older Vietnam vet, over 19 years of service in a couple of branches. I was medically discharged 100 days before my retirement date. I did everything I could for over 10 years but it was not enough to hold my second family together. Now I am almost confined to a power chair and legally blind. But like Steven Hawkings my brain keeps working. Over twenty years ago I figured out how to pay people for being my customers, I just need to marry it to almost any business. This is an ongoing business today that can be brought together with almost any business to create a reason for customers to buy not once but every time from me. But I lack computer skills and living on my social security I need funding and training. Not even e-com providers will talk to you unless you have 30-50K to invest, oh yes, they will build you a business but 90 days to maybe 6 months they cut you loose and it’s sink or swim. Like the Admiral says “not looking for a handout, but a little hand up”. Is there any life out there.

Most grants and programs are extremely complicated and difficult to get through the red tape. From my perspective you pretty much need to be a lawyer or hire one to figure it all out. Here is an idea... someone start a program that has specialists complete the paperwork and application process for all of these so called grants and veteran programs. It seems like only people who won't have any problem raising money or have all the money needed already to start a business and keep it going during the start up phase. Any time I tried to pursue something like this I just get any and fed up because it is complicated and difficult to complete. I honestly don't believe any of this helps the average veteran it seems to me they are all geared toward those with good credit who's business is already more than financially set. I am 90% disabled and I need a grant for my small business but it is useless to even try due to the complexity and lack of willingness to help someone like me.

First let me start by genuinely thanking you for the effort. Thank you.
As mentioned, these programs & others exist on paper to those that qualify. Getting them to work & manifest into tangible benefits, earned through the sacrifice one’s body & mind, paid many times over through blood, sweat, tears, & selfless service is another story & too frequently heart breaking due to empty people not giving a shit, to be blunt.
Most say the phrase “Thank you for your service” & move on feeling better about themselves, oblivious to the unintentional self-serving psychology behind the statement; the veteran knows what they did, or did not do. All while the qualified disabled combat veteran is in the same situation of disarray but worse off from continually being let down/beaten down from empty promises from lukewarm people. Take action through works, rather than repeating shallow phrases & words. That is not accusatory, just a statement.
Some are in political positions, others are supposed to be bound by the duty of their occupation, getting paid for working in the position to make the difference, etcetera; yet are counter productive and borderline saboteurs. In my many years of experience most do nothing to help the veteran in need or even execute their assigned job/tasks which they are being paid to do. Society is failing those that selflessly served, some gave all, all gave some. Some organizations squander funds, some attempt to poach off of the veteran. These people answered the call when the nation needed them, the realistic reciprocity is almost nonexistent in the real world application. Way too many have fallen through the cracks, tragically some could not find a way and became casualties of the aftermath of war.
I am speaking from not only personal experience, but from speaking with other veterans with their unique problems in attempt to help them out from knowledge attained from trial and error through a broken system. I do not have all the answers, I have been seeking them for quite some time. Any lessons I have learned, I share & help my brothers & sisters in arms as best as possible. Everyone has something offer in one form or another, however they are not.
Overall this rotten decay is nothing new, that does not make it acceptable or right. Be the positive difference!
I will look at what you sent, if you want feedback I will provide it. Thank you for your effort, I hope you are sincere.
Please forgive any grammatical or spelling errors, talk to text is difficult with a Bostonian accent.

Only for veterans or is disabled first responders included as well?

@RaysTravel Good question. I think the Operation Homefront link in the description might have options. If not, let me know; I can produce a video just on grants for first responders.

@@grantchatter I checked Operation Homefront website. It looks like it's just for veterans. That would be great if you could make one for disabled first responders. Lots of us out here and rent prices can lead many to be homeless. I for one am trying to pay off some raw land. I don't get enough to afford a house or anything like that. So I figured peace it all together. Do up a septic and a way to create power. Eventually a well but those can be expensive. And get a cheap mobile home or something. Heck even the septic can be expensive. But it's possible if a person does a little at a time. Like just putting in the tank then later the drainage field. I have often wondered if there is any help for disabled first responders. It could make life easier at being able to live better. Thanks in advance for any information you can make on the subject.

@RaysTravel I'm researching for the first responders video, but finding very similar links to two videos, which I'll link here. Do these provide the help you need? (1) Grants for Disabled Persons, ruclips.net/video/q-ZB53CNLhM/видео.html, and (2) another channel, Low Income Relief, has this and other videos that might help, ruclips.net/video/cFFczcKk59k/видео.html

Grants of any kind are difficult to get; they're very limited on purpose. I'm working on a new set of videos that provide much more local information, and hopefully improve the odds of finding support.
