I watch a lot of reviews of pouches, bags, and slings. This one is the best review I have seen. In fact, this is the first one that has explained the strap and how to use it different ways. Well done.
Once you get one you won't leave home without it. It holds my wallet, keys, cell phone and when I travel it also holds my Kindle. It has a slim profile that hugs my body, whether on the hip, the front or the back. It's zippers are study, and don't snag. The strap looks thin, but it's light and comfortable. The days of forgetting my valuables at home have long passed since I got my go-to sling bag.
Man all of your reviews have been awesome as someone diving into getting a 1st sling bag, just wanted to say my thanks for the great reviews, guides and information!!
The Bellroy Lite Sling is my EDC. It is kind of a combo between the venture and sling, it has the magnetic strap of the sling and the opening of the venture but the main pocket only has two individual pockets for organization. I do prefer the magnetic closure of the lite sling on the strap. I also carry mine as a mix between sling and messenger depending on how much I have in it. My main issue with bellroy slings in general is that front pocket being so tight. I only keep my keys in it because I am afraid of anything else falling out while digging in there. It sucks when the main pocket is so functional in how wide it opens. I have been on the fence about upgrading to the venture for more organization in the main pocket and nicer material; made the mistake of getting that chalk color in the lite sling which was super sleek when I got it, but after a year of use is looking pretty rough. Another thing about Bellroy is, their materials are not easy to clean. Despite those nitpicks it is still my favorite grab-and-go bag; a bonus of the lite sling is how easy it is to stuff in a backpack, so you have some flexibility when traveling with how much you carry around with you. Still on the fence after this review haha.
Just like you on the feed back. I think it’s best too hold until next gen release hoping they ll add the magnetic closure to bigger version for instance. I just miss a sort of divider in the main compartment of the light. That way phone screen would be better protected (not mixing with other stuff). But great sling.
I got the 6L and 9L. I thought the 9L would be too big, but it's actually the perfect size. The 6L fits everything, but things just feel tight and bulky. The 9L, everything fits loose and relaxed with room to spare.
Solid review. I’ve had the bag for several months now it’s pretty solid depending on your needs. I slightly wish I got the 9L because I like bringing lots of water. Overall bag is good for those who need to empty out pockets and carry extra stuff. I def don’t like the dual zippers and agree with front pocket wasn’t too tight.
Hi Aaron. Great review as usual. I got the Bellroy Lite for travel because it holds my iPad mini and I gotta tell you I now find myself using it more often. I love the capacity the material and how light it is. Also the magnetic closure on the strap is very sweet. I think this is Bellroy’s best sling.
Always glad to see you walk about with everything: gives a better sense of appearance and functionality. Have my 2 AER slings- largest and smallest. But the more I think about the ideas of componentry, I wait with baited breath on your build. I like the idea of an add-on modules for a laptop or "office" pack or even cam/tech packs. This way I can just swap stuff without having to move items back and forth: items always remain in their specific module. Always fascinated how women deal with it. Keep going, Aaron! ps I often have to add a small umbrella even w my Sling and wish there was some way to slap it on- currently I use a caribiner but it then slaps against the butt.
Thanks for that insight, and yes you are TOTALLY getting the idea I am trying to create with my new bag concept :D. And I'll try and figure out some sort of solution that saves your butt (literally)

I have bellroy venture sling 6L and its amazing. You could of fit that water bottle in the side pockets of the corners in the bag, they are surpassingly expandable. You just sacrifice it being closed completely with the zipper for the main compartment.
Don't have the sling on me right now so can't say for sure. These sound like perfect questions for Bellroy customer support - be sure to let us know what they say!
I got one of these months back (this exact color), I think its my fave 6L ish sling. Not the greatest for tech carry (like ipad, etc., or things with a specific pockets), but that one big compartment really expands. You can fit big bottles, umbrellas and jacket in there no problem, and it don't look that big outside, gotta love that big mouth zipper opening. The strap feels great, smooth and wide, the clips are the best sling clips I've used (and you get two!), and I own like 4 slings of various sizes. Alpaka and Aer make the nicest tech org type slings, but Belroy makes nice "big compartment)" type slings.
Hi Aaron, thanks for your comprehensive product reviews. I hadn't even realised this was a category of bag (slings) that existed until I started looking through your video catalogue! Can you clarify whether this (specifically, the Venture 6L) will comfortably fit a medium sized tablet? (E.g. a Galaxy A8, or an iPad 11") Alternatively, would the Aer Day Sling 3 Max fit such a tablet? I've narrowed it down to one of these two - I prefer the look of the Venture Sling, but being able to accommodate the tablet is a prerequisite. I'd prefer not to go to the Venture 9L as that seems too large (at that point, thought I might as well just use my regular backpack instead of buying an entirely new bag). Also on the Aer Day Sling 3 (apologies this is somewhat on the wrong video) - you mentioned the Fidlock magnet buckles: how easy is it up unbuckle by accident/how well does it hold up if someone were to simply try to grab the bag away from you (not so much an issue at home, but would be disasterous if you're travelling and carrying your passport)?
Yo dude, my pleasure! Unfortunately I don't have either of those tablets and I'm traveling now so can't say for sure. I'd recommend reaching out to both Aer and Bellroy customer service - they'll be able to give you a solid answer :) As for the Fidlocks, they def aren't thief-proof, but they are solid. They won't accidentally come undone and if a thief opens it then no magnets would have stopped them if you get what I mean.
At some point I'm sure I'm getting one of these. Always loved Bellroy, so stylish and functional, perhaps too elegant sometimes but they surely know what they're doing. I already have too many slings (oops, bag addiction) but this size seems to hit the golden spot. My Aer City Sling 3 sometimes is too small, I have the Boundary Errant and it's too big, one of my favorites is the Trakke Largo but it is too stiff for certain uses so I'm guessing this one is in that middle ground that I'd love to use, I would use it messenger style as well when it's packed. Seems comfortable enough. If I give it a shot I'll use your link but I'm also waiting for a new sling that's on the making by a new brand of weirdos who review bags on YT, I dunno the name but they seem to be total nutcases but that's what's pulling me under their spell. Hey Aaron. What’s your thoughts about Bellroy recycled polyester vs recycled nylon? Thinking of grabbing the Venture Sling 9L and saw that they have a new Black color featuring a different material using recycled polyester. The Midnight is recycled nylon which I believe is the same as Transit Workpack 20L? Need some advice which to pick.
@@Nomads.Nation Midnight is pretty much black too, isn’t it? I suppose it’s a black vs black, hence the question about the material.😉 Is the nylon less resistant to scratch?
Great review! 🔥 I have the 9L version. And it's perfect. Been using it for a year. It easily carries all of my EDC essentials with room to spare. I do enjoy the zipper openings, and have organized my items according to which side I open. I haven't tried it in messenger mode, but might just have to now.
@@Nomads.Nation so I've been using it in messenger mode. And Aaron, it's even better this way! Much easier to carry, and quickly get access to the bag's contents. Glad I came across your video!
So they promote the water resistance of the bag. But is has 2 gaping holes on either side that if you wear it as a sling would act as funnels to allow rain in. Why not make the zippers close all the way?
I love this color but can't seem to find it. What color is this? I have the 9L in midnight. I love it but this color is next level. It looks like a bluish gray.

love it, it held up really well. perfect size, I wish there is a rear pocket or larger front pocket for the phone, but it's ok. I cycle in the rain with it, went to the beach and the waves crashed on it for a bit and everything stays dry. the gap between side flaps and zip line does not matter!
@@Nomads.Nationthank you, ive purchased it from your link, but i didnt get any discount. I always cant decide between Bellroy, Alpaka or Aer, but with your help ive decided to pick Bellroy. I think it wont fit steamdeck but its okay, its more of an edc for me and i have a bigger sling for it.
i ordered the aer day sling 3, im still waiting for it to arrive but if im not happy with it im going to return and try the bellroy venture sling. kind of wish i started by getting this one but atleast ill know for sure which is the better option. do you still prefer this one over the aer day sling 3?
I have the 9l black I love it but I hate the buckle i think that they look fragile. I'm not a tall guy but on me the 9 l look smaller than you with the 7l😅 . I love that I can put my puff jacket and all of my stuff inside for the long work day that start with the sun and end with cold weather.
thanks Albert! In that case both the zippers meet in the middle - most of the bag will be open minus the area where the two zippers are coming head to head. It's an interesting design choice that I ended up quite enjoying for the most part
Been on the fence on this bag but I still wish this had a quick back packet to slide something in that is close to your body. Currently using a nutsac magsatch 11 and although it doesn’t have a quick back pocket it’s easier to just chunk stuff in the main big pocket
The Aer Day 3 Max seems better thought out, third compartment at the back, comfy handle and same 6L capacity. Less colorways but black is always a winner. I’m biased though, I have the Max 😂
Please tell me the size of the Bellroy 9 liter sling bag. I want to know the height, width and thickness. I thought that the size of the homepage was strange, so I contacted the manufacturer by e-mail. The answer was 365 x 210 x 240. After that, I think the size is also strange. Therefore, I would like to know the size of the bag you are using.
Why doesn't any review call Bellroy's bluff on their claimed bag volume? My "9L" Venture has approx the same inside volume as my 5L Peak Design sling. I have seen similar comments from others questioning the stated volume of Bellroy slings.
It should be noted that I never measure the bags I use, but I will call them out if the capacity it 'feels' off. Check my recent Alpaka review where I questioned if their bag was actually 35L. For me though, this sling felt right around 6L no problemo.
if bellroy made the venture ready sling 2 with the main compartment work like this and layed out like this, with back pocket itll be the perfect sling for me
Really wished they had incorporated the strap buckles with their venture ready backpacks. Some way to attach this pouch on the inside of the backpack, like an organizer that hangs out near the top of the bag. Kinda like Mystery Ranch's zoid pouch but better
The Venture Sling 6L would be the perfect sling if only it had a mechanism for storing a water bottle outside the main body of the bag. Even a simple/strong stretchy loop, strapping, or pocket on the base would do it. At the moment, if you want to carry a decent camera on a day out and other day bits in the bag, having a water bottle in there too is really impractical. Even a small 250ml or 350 ml size one takes up too much room and also would hit your nice camera, like my X100V. If you stick in a small water bottle even vertically, it sticks out the top with the zip not fully done up and looking/feeling awkward. I've bought this sling but the lack of a water bottle solution is a real issue for me and I might send it back unfortunately cause it's superbly made. I wonder if I could sew something on the base myself????? Then I'd have room for everything else inside! mMMM so near THE perfect day bag, but not quite...
It’s basically impossible to find a sling with a water bottle holder. Nomatic tried with their Navigator series, and did ok, but ultimately it’s a very difficult thing to accomplish
It's weird isn't it. So easy to add this functionality, and it would make a significant difference, but seems makers don't consider it possible or something. Odd.@@Nomads.Nation
i got this exact one in 9L , i do absolutely love everything about it , but sometime feel like it is too big , i also have the mini and think it’s too small , and now i’m broke , and watching more sling videos
I wish they offered the 10l size but with the same interior design as the 6l and 9l. I love the size and lash points on the 10l but im not a fan of the non removable camera inserts or the fact that they took away the back zipper compartment and organization.
@@Nomads.Nation yes only cuz I like to bring my steam deck with me sometimes and with the dimensions of that handheld it fits in my 9l pretty snug so id love to have the same build with just a bit more space.

Disappointed they got rid of the colour you're holding, its a nice neutral urban colour & its not black. The other colours currently on offer don't really suit me and afaik the 6L green still has shiny zippers whereas 9L has matte. I'd prefer a forest green compared to the bright one and I don't like how the strap colour also differs
Did you find the lack of a rear hidden zipper on this sling annoying or not so much because it’s bigger than the 2.5? I’ve seen people posting that the plastic strap connector breaks quite easily so I might have to avoid using it
Until RUclips bag reviews started I am sure no one had any idea which zippers are on their bags. It’s all perception when every RUclips talks about YKK zippers and attach that to high quality and attach that to premium bags. Now all bag nerds want to understand if the zippers are ykk if the cost is high. I am not questioning the quality of YKK but if it’s not YKK it’s not low quality by default. Has anyone ever don’t a stress test on zippers to declare YKK as the best ?
great questions! Other zipper brands can be awesome as well, but YKK is the best bc of how crazy they are with their standards. They reinvented the game and do everything completely in house (literally, everything) and overall they are just incredibly well made. By all means, it doesn't mean that other zippers aren't durable, but YKK has built an amazing brand for a reason
I have the Venture 6L and like it a lot, except it is nowhere close to six liters in volume, more like four (barely). Compare the Venture 6L to the Ulanski 6L and it's obvious Bellroy is deceiving.
They have a 2.5 ltr option, the venture ready sling. That one also has a third back zipper for cellphone. I use that more than my 7l Bellroy classic sling 😂
I have this and love it- I do wish the front part was a little looser. It can get tight quick. Do wish it had a pocket that went against the body. Would love to just have my wallet and or passport on its own
lol @ all the comments calling it a man purse. Some very insecure guys around these parts. Also, why are you even on here, looking at a review of a bag like this then? Odd people.

you know what, a rear pocket for the phone would actually be really nice.
@@Nomads.Nation couldn't agree more. I'm still on the hunt for a perfect sling. the fun in that is there will never be one :))

Bellroy Venture Sling 6L vs lite sling, Which one would you choose? Thank you. I appreciate it. @@Nomads.Nation
Better this or Alpaka Go Sling Mini V2 ? And does the 6L could fit something like Steamdeck OLED ?
not sure about the steamdeck as I've never used one, but I'd take this personally
@@Nomads.Nationthank you, ive purchased it from your link, but i didnt get any discount. I always cant decide between Bellroy, Alpaka or Aer, but with your help ive decided to pick Bellroy. I think it wont fit steamdeck but its okay, its more of an edc for me and i have a bigger sling for it.
i ordered the aer day sling 3, im still waiting for it to arrive but if im not happy with it im going to return and try the bellroy venture sling. kind of wish i started by getting this one but atleast ill know for sure which is the better option. do you still prefer this one over the aer day sling 3?
both are amazing, but yes, I prefer Bellroy slings in general over any other maker
I have the 9l black
I love it but I hate the buckle i think that they look fragile.
I'm not a tall guy but on me the 9 l look smaller than you with the 7l😅 . I love that I can put my puff jacket and all of my stuff inside for the long work day that start with the sun and end with cold weather.
looks can be deceiving, those buckles are strong.
Good review, Aaron! Interesting 2 zippers system for the main compartment. What happens if you pull both zippers to the middle?
thanks Albert! In that case both the zippers meet in the middle - most of the bag will be open minus the area where the two zippers are coming head to head. It's an interesting design choice that I ended up quite enjoying for the most part
totally agree i have this bag and messenger style is the only way to go without looking goofy
And it’s super comfy/functional
Considering between the Bellroy Venture 9L Sling versus the Bellroy Lite Sling 7L. Do you have thoughts on them?
I haven't reviewed the Lite Sling 7L, but all I can say is when it comes to Bellroy and slings, you can't really go wrong
@@Nomads.Nation Thank you for replying.
@@O._Si best of luck!
@@Nomads.Nation Thanks. Keep making your great videos.
@@O._Si will do!
Been on the fence on this bag but I still wish this had a quick back packet to slide something in that is close to your body. Currently using a nutsac magsatch 11 and although it doesn’t have a quick back pocket it’s easier to just chunk stuff in the main big pocket
That would have been a great add on to this sling for sure
I’m with you. Bellroy has something against a back passport pocket .
What was the volume of your water bottle?
22oz or 24oz I believe
I’m probably buying this one - just wish it had a back pocket to hold my passport (against the body). And magnet or metal (heavy duty) buckles.
totally agree that a back pocket would have been totally welcomed
What's the key holder you are using?
Orbitkey ring
The Aer Day 3 Max seems better thought out, third compartment at the back, comfy handle and same 6L capacity. Less colorways but black is always a winner. I’m biased though, I have the Max 😂
Agreed on the lack of the back compartment
Is it the Balsalt color? 6L or 9L?
This is 6L, not sure about the color but check the comments, I think Bellroy themselves made a comment and said what color it is
I usually travel light with a mini sling, but I'm needing to carry more for my kids. Can the 6L fit a 10-11" tablet or will I have to get the 9L?
Ah I'm not 100% sure Jonathan, I'd recommend asking Bellroy, they'll get you sorted. Please let us know what they say!
I only have the 6L
it feels smaller than 9l
Why doesn't any review call Bellroy's bluff on their claimed bag volume? My "9L" Venture has approx the same inside volume as my 5L Peak Design sling. I have seen similar comments from others questioning the stated volume of Bellroy slings.
It should be noted that I never measure the bags I use, but I will call them out if the capacity it 'feels' off. Check my recent Alpaka review where I questioned if their bag was actually 35L. For me though, this sling felt right around 6L no problemo.
if bellroy made the venture ready sling 2 with the main compartment work like this and layed out like this, with back pocket itll be the perfect sling for me
I’m pretty sure it does all of those things
Really wished they had incorporated the strap buckles with their venture ready backpacks. Some way to attach this pouch on the inside of the backpack, like an organizer that hangs out near the top of the bag. Kinda like Mystery Ranch's zoid pouch but better
Interesting idea
Can a dslr fit inside?
For sure! Just depends on the size of the DSLR and lens
what is the size of the water bottle?
16oz
After watching a tons of sling bag review, each sling has it pros & cons, I got the 9L version finally.
yup, no sling is perfect but for my use case, this one comes very close
i got this exact one in 9L , i do absolutely love everything about it , but sometime feel like it is too big , i also have the mini and think it’s too small , and now i’m broke , and watching more sling videos
@@brandonh4633 I think 9 would be too big for me, I loved the 6L size. Best of luck to your wallet sir 🫡

I wish they offered the 10l size but with the same interior design as the 6l and 9l. I love the size and lash points on the 10l but im not a fan of the non removable camera inserts or the fact that they took away the back zipper compartment and organization.
Is that 1L difference between the 9 and the 10 that crucial for you?
@@Nomads.Nation yes only cuz I like to bring my steam deck with me sometimes and with the dimensions of that handheld it fits in my 9l pretty snug so id love to have the same build with just a bit more space.
@@carmeezy292 ahh makes sense!
I handled a 10l, the dividers you can lay flat on the bottom, so it can function as basically one cavity. Just FYI. Pity about the back zipper though.
Which color is this?
I think basalt?
Can it hold an 11" ipad?
Not sure. Be sure to ask Bellroy and let us know what they say

Really wish they'd do one of these in 2.5-3L
the Venture Ready 2.5L is basically what you wish for, we just published our full review on it, check it out
Aside from the handle, if it had straps on the bottom to carry an umbrella, tripod or jacket it would be perfect.
For sure!
Agreed, I liked the color, but clearly not enough people agreed with us so Bellroy stopped stocking it 😢
Did you find the lack of a rear hidden zipper on this sling annoying or not so much because it’s bigger than the 2.5? I’ve seen people posting that the plastic strap connector breaks quite easily so I might have to avoid using it
@@backslashio I would have preferred the back pocket but I got used to it. I never had a problem with the strap connectors
Is it possible that Ulanski is over-measuring?
@@Nomads.Nation I don't think so. I've got a couple of other 6L bags and all have more volume than the Bellroy.
