This is going to be insane in competitive. Can't wait to see the plays this will create. I really just want them to fix the input lag in this game, apparently it has 8 frames of lag which is more than any other Smash game before Ultimate.
Knowing capcom the lag might be a fix similar to SC6 to help with netplay, that said the netplay is kind of not worth it atm so who knows what they'll do. Nintendo doesn't have a great track-record on engine-level fixes however, so I would bet on the buffer and input delay sticking throughout the game's lifespan. Also, IIRC Brawl had a random input delay due to some poor coding between 1-8 frames on each move which was subsequentially patched out in Project M.

Now if your really knowledgeable and good you could even parry all of the hits for say example cloud f smash really changes the game this is the first thing I'm going to master once i get the game since i know it will help me the most.

Yeah this is complicated asf. They should've kept power shielding instead. No it's not because I'm trash and I need the easier option, it's because they they changed a core part of universal gameplay, and I only had the opportunity to play Ultimate in the past year, and now I play consistently. Not to mention this functionality change is SO sneaky and convoluted that even my ESPORTS TEACHER, who's done this many years longer than me doesn't even know how explain it. I'm over here struggling to power shield, and people parrying while just holding that sh*t, and it was THIS simple?!

Great video! But... How does one multi-parry the way you a owed off sat the end of the video? Does it require a button press each time or will it auto-parry for multi-hits after the first strike?
They're seperate button presses. You essentially have 5 frames to parry again. In short, you better practice consistently on things like Bowser Jr's forward smash or Ridley's multiple fireballs if you wanna get good at parrying lmao

What I did when i tried out the leak is I set the shield button to Y, so my back button is still shield, but i use it for actual shield. but if i want to parry, i use the Y and just tap it when i try to read the opponent
Ok so wait, this game runs at 60fps right? And you get 5 frames to get a parry?! Holy shit I feel bad for people who have never played a platform fighter before. 5 frames is stupidly easy to work with if you have played similar games(ex, brawlhalla or previous titles)
3rd Strike players will be godlike. Ult. gives you almost a tenth of a second, according to the math. I suppose it's balanced by shieldstun if you're too late on parries, but even semi-competitive players will get this done right and consistently if they grind.
These could be considered red parries on occasion, since you guard in order to get the parry out, but it's really only like that if you're already guarding against attacks.

Kinda, but remember that shields take 3 frames to start up. You have to shield a 20th of a second (.05 sec.) before you can parry. After that, it's 3rd Strike timing.
