I’m a doctor and I do side plumbing jobs and will be going back to become a plumber officially after watching your videos! Cheers
Your a good man Mikey. You always do the right thing as a businessman and I very much respect that
Wish I was closer to your area Mike, I'd come work for you! Keep up the great work and keep making the trades great again
Mike You Are An Honest Man And A True Professional . You Are Very Rare. 👍
Should the "light switch" have a emergency shut off switch plate?
Beautiful cleaning on those burners. Worth every penny
You got that right!
always learned something from you. Wish we have you here in MA
❤ that switch plate top of stairs definitely needs changed 🤦♂️ A nice Red one . Nice work!!
Thanks 👍
Valve tags are a great touch !
Boiler did need a good cleaning. I had a customer many years ago call be in the middle of winter with no heat. Checked the oil level and that was more than half full. Upon arrival I checked to see if there was power at the boiler. There was none. I asked her where the emergency switch was and she didn't know where it was or even if she had one. It took me a few minutes but I found it. It was on a side wall with a refer in the kitchen. The switch was over the refer. She had gone shopping and threw a couple of cereal boxes on top of refer and it switched off the switch.
I think so too
Are emergency switches an easy coast thing? Never seen or even heard of switches in odd places like at the top of the stairs anywhere else.
Safe to say you Rarely get Service you Pay for but when you do, you will Immediately Know it and will keep doing Business with them. I have 35+ years with same HVAC.
First clean boiler room I see for a long time but a dirty boiler.
You are right
Wow a boiler that didn't need the cocky taken out of it lol. No water mess and bucket games makes it a quick visit.
Making trades great again
a case of a light switch turned off. now that's a pretty good title for the video
FROM CHICAGO EXELENT JOB I REALY LIKE THE WAY YOU WORK
Thank you for the support and feedback. Make sure you subscribe and hit that thumbs up button.
once again, great job as always.
oh wow, the burners look so clean now..😂
I noticed the other furnace switch had a standard backplate. I would swap it with the red plate used for furnace switches, that way no one mistakes it for the staircase light switch. That's probably how it got switched off.
Thanks for the tip
Do you guys offer service contracts for gas burners and central air conditioning in Suffolk County??? Love the videos !!!
We offer maintenance plans
@ I absolutely love your work!!! My son just bought his first house with his fiancé I will make sure he gives you a call !!! Thanks for the reply!!!!
Great video. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Amazing work ethics. Continue to be an example!✌️
Nice job Mikey pipes
You saved him money
I sure did
im in the first top 5. ill take it
Shame on the homeowner and he paid for his incompetence. If you are going to be his superintendent then you should get paid. I like the 115 trip charge.
Good service
Love your work. From Oregon
Awesome! Thank you!
you sighed a few times - why were you potentially disappointed by two pumps and one thermostat setup?
No sticker for the stairway emergency switch?
Haha 😂
I am sure you are the only one that does combustion tests in your service area
On 2 pumps with only 1 thermostat. That house isn’t ancient, so multizones were more installed. Mikey could have checked if there are 1 or 2 thermostats wires coming out of the ceiling to confirm 1 zone. And if there are 2 supply and 2 return pipes, that would suggest 2 zones. And is the aquastat or relay wired to power both pumps with 1 thermostat call . Possibly the prior owner shortcut the system by not replacing a broken thermostat, which is just $50 for a programmable, and patched the hole where the 2nd thermostat was before. Incredibly dumb, if that was done.
I have a zone that is served by 1 supply, 2 return pipes and 1 pump, but that is 1964, so it’s possible this owner has 1 zone.
What is the amperage tolerance on those Wago connectors before they start melting..?
Was the flame orange color? Is that from moisture in the gas/propane?
Heat exchanger is likely leaking. Did you notice all the rust?
THere's no swiches here in the midwest at the stairs! I dont understand why you have it in NY.
They’re called emergency switches and they’re found on top of the stairs in the basement or outside the boiler room
Hi Mike I’m a heating engineer in the uk we take a reading up the draft diverter is there a reason you don’t do that
Ps love watching your jobs
I was taught to take a draft reading before the diverter
Don't forget the plug not that it matters in an open draft system it's just a long way to go back for free when they say it's concerning to them that there's a hole in their pipe lol.
No need to plug the hole
The homeowner should remove the staircase switch (connect the wires and plate) since there a shutdown switch at the boiler. That stair switch may accidentally be off or on easily.
It’s a safety feature. If the SHTF in the basement you wouldn’t want to try and go stand next to the boiler to kill power.
Get your annual tune up people
If you think plumbers HVAC techs are expensive try getting a couple trees cuts down. I found out!
Steve Lav must’ve been there before 🤣
Should have checked the heat exchanger as well since you pulled the burner out.
I guarantee you it would be all green 😂
Exactly. The rust is a troubling indicator of a leak.
More likely Condensation.
@Rainmaker88 most likely restricted, flue not passing through the fins.
43 ppm for a gas boiler is way to much usually is 1 max 3ppm
we aim for under 50ppm
So you didn't charge him??? That's a good move
Charge him for what?
@PipeDoctor umm for you to drive there and spend your precious little time
🥃👍🏻
Mikey...this is an easy one even i can troubleshoot it.
Good 👍
If it was easy everyone would be doing it.
Come on Mikey. You could have put a rag down before you started banging the rust out of the burners.
Thanks for comment
2:18 .Call a couple of guys and see who can come today. This is how people choose a professional?
a lot of schmutz on that boiler...
A lot of shit too
Need to examine heat exchanger. That level of rust in the burners is NOT normal.
This is just years of neglect
