  • Welcome to fordmustang98guy Everyone, This afternoon I will be doing a full in depth review on the 2003 Buick Century, Note this is the Custom so it is a base model but the car looks like new & it is in excellent shape. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of the car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, & starting the engine as well. A thorough tour/review of the car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

    This Buick can easily last 250,000 - 300,000 Miles - *IF* it doesn't have rust!
    If you're watching this video, thinking about buying a Buick Century and it has low rust...sounds good and runs good and you can get a good price - even if it has over 100,000 miles - you should seriously think an buying this vehicle.
    I've had my '99 Buick Century for 6 years and have put at least 100,000 miles on it. Bought with 80,000 miles. Basic and expected maintenance (like brakes, shocks, struts, tires, alignment, battery, oil changes, tuneups, fluids...) is all you really have to worry about to keep it running.
    The only remaining I have to let mine go now is because it has too much rust underneath the car to get the brake and fuel line overhaul that it needs.
    I'm grateful I've been able to have this vehicle for 6 years and I recommend you get one, too,if you're thinking about it. So long as the price is decent and it's not overly rusted underneath.
    They keep great, drive great....very reliable. VERY good gas mileage, even for a V6.
    Good Luck!!!!

      I Want To Survive I actually own a Buick Regal very similar to the Century it’s a 2002 & it only has 61,000 miles on the odometer when I first got it in late 2017 car only had 48,000 miles My Regal is alike the Century but I got the 3.8 L V6 instead of the little 3.1 L V6. Both are great cars but I went with the Regal because the 3800 motors run like a top but the 3100 motors tend to blow head gaskets & the lower intake gasket but the 3800 is known just for the lower intake gasket going bad but my upper intake gasket is starting to leak a tiny bit but I’m definitely going to get that taken care of soon. & by the way I am a Buick Enthusiast I do love these cars & my Grandparents have a 2000 Buick Century & it only has 57,000 miles on the odometer they’ve owned it since brand new & almost 20 years later they are still driving it.

      That's the beginning...it's a great car, I have one with 147K. I purchased it in 2009 (SOCA) with 61K miles from an elderly owner and it cost me nothing in equipment maintenace until 2019 at which time it needed $1.5 K. Then between 2020- til now it cost me $6.5K and it runs great = no work needed on engine or transmission at all. It looks great...maintained to the max. So, It needed some replacements after 125K...it's getting old, I am too and I need help. The way I figure it I drove the car 10 years with only $1.5K in repairs and now to save it (and me) it cost another $6.5K which = $8K for 13 yrs. (87,000 miles) and not one dime in auto payments. That's what I call an investment. I'll drive it til one of us dies (God's choice).

    • @mikejohn0088
      @mikejohn0088 Год назад

      If a car is not driven much and is nearly 20 yrs. old, you have a car that looks new but beware.
      When not driven the seals and gaskets dry out which are very costly to replace.
      The mechanical components have been in slumber much of the time and when not used they can deteriorate too.
      I purchased a 1990 MB 300E that was "immaculate" with 146K miles
      I wanted one for a long time but could not find one that was "cherry"----this one was.
      However, seals, gaskets and parts cost me $16K to bring it back to near factory new...not all at once but over 8 yrs.
      Still love the car. Oh ya, I have a 2003 Buick Century too w/ 150K miles like new condition.
      Purchased it in 2009 w/61K miles. It cost me zero for 10 yrs but over the last few yrs. I had to put $7K into it.
      Both cars are work horses but as everything ages the doctor is needed for machine and man too.

    I have one too. It has 120,000 miles(193,121 kilometers.... roughly). Very low miles for the year. It runs and drives like new. It was in the same family since new before I got it. I got it off a young lady who got it from her mother, and she got it from HER mother who got it new. It was just tuned up the same weekend I bought it. It's comfy and gets good mileage, but it was not well put together.

      @fordmustang98guy  7 лет назад

      Josh Nixon The Century is a good car but I personally myself want to buy the Regal LS because the 3100 motor in the Century can blow an intake gasket especially the head gasket, the Regal has a 3800 motor & it's much more stronger than the 3100 motor

    • @joshn938
      @joshn938 7 лет назад +3

      I heard about that problem with the 3100, apparently it's due to the Dex-Cool coolant not being changed after 5 years. Many people forget to and the coolant can turn acidic and eat through the plastic gaskets. A set of metal gaskets solves the problem, but so does changing the fluids at the right intervals. The 3800 is a fantastic engine, but the 3100 other than the intake manifold gasket is pretty good. My mom has a 2003 Malibu ( it used to be my dad's) with over 300K miles, still going strong! But my Century is about pooped out at 140K. Engine wise it's fine, but the seals are shot, it leaks in the rain ( and I have to clean it constantly so no mold grows) and I have to measure the gas level using my trip odo. it;s just outlived its usefulness for me, and I'd also like to get something a little less....old man-ish. One other positive with these cars is that they are cheap to insure. It had a good run of a year and a half, time to move on.

      That's what, 50K miles? Man, that's barely broken in. The rubber on the hoses can become brittle as cars get older, not surprised something like that happened. In KM, my cars has about 225K. I've taken pretty good care of it in the time I've had it, changed oil every 4800 Kilometers (3,000 miles) but the last owner wore it out and didn't maintain it at all. It's pretty shitty, but you get what you pay for when you buy a car for 2 grand. The original owner maintained it pretty well, probably some little old lady. Lp Music these are good first cars yes it is a old folks car but I still recommend them their good cars to begin with I own a 2002 Buick Regal LS which is very similar to the Century, my 02 Regal is my first car that I bought last year.

      @The YTPer, I am also 16 and just got a 2000 century as a first car. The 3100 is a great engine and will go forever. There great cheap first cars, and I absolutely love mine and will highly recommend it. However it is one of the most stereotypical old people cars out there. Seeing it is your first car I would not worry about it, if you like it that's all that matters!

      @jdm2626 5 лет назад +4

      You shouldn't care about whether it's an "old person car". I actually regret not getting a 2002 Buick Regal as my first car (It's similar to the Century) I would have gotten it for $1900 and it was in really good condition. Super clean. Took it for a test drive and it was the most comfortable car I've ever sat in, everything worked fine. I didn't get it because "I didn't like the color of the interior."
      I now own a 2002 Dodge Neon because I was in a crunch and just needed a car to start my first job the next day. Horrible car. Uncomfortable. Really wished I'd gotten that Regal.

      bert Aguilar One Common Issue is that the rocker panels on these cars are known for rust issues make sure you rust proof (oil spray) every year because the rockers are known to have rust issues I own a 2002 Buick Regal LS that is very similar to the century but my regal is a bit bigger than the century my regal has no rust the subframe is solid the rockers are also solid little bit of a bubble spot on the right rear rocker but the body is immaculate when I bought my regal last year it had 79,000km I've put almost 8,000km I got to say tho Buick make very good quality cars back in the day.

      @@fordmustang98guy You are very correct about the rocker panels on the 2003 rusting out. I just bought a 2003 Buick Century with 126900 miles, paid $2000, and the rocker panels are totally rusted out on both sides. I'm thinking about buying the replacements parts and riveting them in place. Interior is in super clean condition. Awesome looking car. Thanks for sharing.
