Torben Ulrich... Great Tennis 🎾 legend.. Such a wonderful man with wisdom and knowledge.. 👍🏻 Tennis 🎾 is an Art 🎨 and a inspirational 🎶 Musical experience.. 👍🏻 To me 🎾 tennis strokes are nice soothing sounds.. Like in Football.. He would have won the longest Beard 🧔🏻 competition in tennis 🎾.. 👍🏻
Thank you for this lovely tribute video. I got to know Torben and spend some time on and off the court with him in the early and mid 80's. He visited the Buddhist monastery in my hometown of Woodstock, NY and I helped him organize an art show as part of a series of fundraising events for the monastery. I am the proud owner of two of his amazing tennis paintings. I learned more about life and the connection between one's art, one's sport and one's spiritual practice from Torben then from almost anyone else in my life
Hi Peter, thanks for sharing your comment about the film and your relation to Torben Ulrich. It made me happy. Are you still practicing buddism in NY? It was very special to meet and interview Torben 2017 in his home in San Francisco and meet his son Lars at Torbens art exhibition in LA and also his friends that was so grateful for what they learnt from Torben. Im a Swedish journalist and filmmaker based in Stockholm - I been to New York once and hope to come back one day. all the best Mats
@@matsogrenwanger3291 Hi Mats - Yes, I am still following the dharma in Woodstock. And I have shared this amazing video with a number of my friends - both tennis players and jazz musicians. Torben was "intermedia" before that word existed!
@@matsogrenwanger3291 Thank you for your sensitive interview, and this video, Mats. It's a great privilege and very valuable to be able to look back at this material, now a day since he passed on.
As he aged, his unique approach to fitness and the psychological aspects of performance allowed him to defeat many players previously ranked higher than him. This is why in 1976 he was actually the top-ranked senior player in the world.
@@NhanNguyen-ip8wf Barry is quoting Torben from the Metallica documemtary about their album St. Anger. The doc is called Some Kind of Monster and it details the band doing poorly emotionally after Jason Newsted left the band in 2001. Lars' dad sat in on the guys showing him some stuff from the partially finished album. There was one instrumental section they said should begin the album, but Torben instead said "Delete that" lol
@@prophetofbeans6781 Just a father offering his responsible advice. It wasn't quite so brutal sounding as "delete that" when he said it, even if those are the words he used.
R.I.P Torben Ulrich🕯️🕊️🌹

Rest in Peace, Torben Ulrich!

Such a original guy. Torben was ................Torben
Truly enjoyed this historical document It is very we’ll done and captures great values from distinguished people of tennis
tack Sven, det var mycket trevligt att höra. Ha det bra i Pater Noster.
If you got time we can play at KLTK
A legend. Read Gordon Forbes handful of summer’s for some great anecdotes
Great film - love the philosophy.. you really see radical thinking imbued in the educated class in Copenhagen, not unlike Kirkegaard et al
God rest your soul, RIP.
not a bad career in tennis overall for Lars dad. highest rank 96 but he made the SF and QF of the major slams NOT BAD

Cool but weird
I don't know about you, but in my book weird generally accompanies cool more often than not.
Lars dad wrote a book For Whom The Tennis Balls Toll. Just kidding.
Metallica forever 😺.
Delete that
So glad someone else remembers that documentary lol
