      It's great to see someone so young being so forward thinking. You will undoubtedly do well. You have a lot of time to model yourself on this channel.
      I'm only just starting at 35, so my success will be limited. Start at 17, and you will have so much success.xx

      I'm in a similar situation - 17, senior in high school, coming from an immigrant family background. I'm looking forward to being able to start growing my wealth immediately starting at age 18 through investments, but it's pretty scary seeing the sheer amount of things that I have yet to learn about budgeting, investing and just overall being mindful of money. Good luck to you!

    I find your videos really interesting, and I'm glad you mentioned how saving too much can be an issue. It definitely impacted me growing up. Now that I'm older I realise that I was always told we were poor and couldn't afford anything, when that was so far from the truth, and that really screwed me up. Especially now that I *am* poor. I just wish there were videos or resources for help on how to manage things and what to do when you have disability/limited income. Because most of these goals just seem so unattainable to me when I barely afford to get by each month and don't really have the ability to work more or increase my income in that way.

    • @OneBigHappyLife
      @OneBigHappyLife  5 лет назад

      I don't know if there is anyone out there talking specifically about people on fixed/disability income, but there is a lot of advice (even on OBHL) that you can adopt to fit your particular situation. You might just have to be a bit creative with it. I wish you the best of luck!--Tasha

    • @lynmorris3453
      @lynmorris3453 5 лет назад

      @aurorsforthewin - I so hear you on the lack of resources for how to manage when you have a disability/limited income. While I am currently looking at ways to help increase my income, it's challenging as everything needs the consideration of how my disability will affect it or how it will affect my disability. Don't know about you, but I feel like I had additional costs that I would if I didn't have this disability which just makes the limited income more challenging.
      I do try to adapt advice/resources to my situation, but I can grow frustrated with doing that sometimes.

    Your videos always power up your motivation. Which is good because I am saving for a house deposit....
    Some general advice would be welcome though. Not everyone will be able to save as much as they WANT. Everyone would like to have 7mil at retirement but not everyone can become a high power earner. Some people might move up and up throughout their work lifes, some might be limited for various reasons... Any rules of a thumb? I remember hearing that you should aim at 2/3 or half of your annual salary to be comfortable in retirement? Due to lower cost of living - assuming you are mortgage free and no longer pay for commute/ lunches. What do you think?

  • @AmandaSevall

    Love your videos! I am a visual person so I found myself wishing you would show a mock spreadsheet of how you portion out your savings month over month. Also, do you keep it all in one account or do you have separate accounts for separate goals? Would love to have that kind of explanation! 😃

    Thanks for the video Tasha and Joseph. Any suggestions on how to balance the not saving more than you can realistically afford while also saving enough to achieve your goals in the desired time frame - when your ability to increase your income is affected by disability. I have and am continuing to look at ways to increase my income but currently the disability limitations along with debt mean realistic savings rates is slow (current goal being to save a small emergency fund so that I have have a buffer when I focus on paying down debt to give me more flexibility around how/when I work and what I can choose to do with my money)

    Have you guys discussed where your 12 month emergency fund goes? It can’t just be sitting in a savings account and it’s too valuable to risk on a stock.

  • @shannonbrown8918
    @shannonbrown8918 5 лет назад +1

    What's the rationale behind forgoing paying off current debt to save for short term goals, if you have a good credit score and will very likely be able to have access to a line of credit or other debt vehicles in the future? I understand why you would prioritize saving an emergency fund and long term investing over paying extra on debt. And why you wouldn't want to make additional payments on a student loan if it will be forgiven in the future. But otherwise I don't get this strategy.

    I always learn a lot from y'all's videos! How do you calculate your minimum savings rate for retirement? I have been setting aside money into my jobs 401k since I started working full-time but I don't know if I am on track for where I want to be at retirement! Thank you!

      It’s a concept we teach inside of Wealth Builders Society. Your MSR is the amount that you need to invest every month in order to retire at your ideal age with your ideal lifestyle.
