    To the people in the comments who are trashing this guy's bench - Does equipped bench look goofy? Yes. Are equipped reps legit reps? Depends on who you ask. Is pushing 940 lbs off your chest a titanic feat of strength even if you're wearing a bench shirt and doing a belly press? Abso-fuckin'-lutely. If you're skeptical...just go to your gym, put three times your body weight on a bar, wear every bench shirt on Earth, copy this guy's form, and try to complete a rep. When your crushed sternum heals you can come back and tell us about your new found respect for this guy's lifts.

    • @demomain1571
      @demomain1571 Год назад +1

      @Alexis Reuve I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as “ugly.” It is simply how suits work. On squat and bench, your rep in the suit builds lots of tension which helps propel heavier weights and in turn allows you to lift more. In deadlift, the weight being on the ground kinda makes it hard to effectively build tension for that specific lift, sense you can’t really build tension in your back from the suit. It is just how it works.

    • @patrickmcgrath2570

      Raul Delgadillo you can get a lot more weight off a squat suit than a deadlift suit. Equipped squats above 500kg have always been pretty common. Till this day Eddie has the only 500kg deadlift. Also not even talking about the mechanics and leverages of a 400+ pound man being able to deadlift that much (look how much Blaine can deadlift in comparison to his squat and how much Eddie deadlifted). There’s a big difference.

    • @JohnmillerPowerlifting
      @JohnmillerPowerlifting  4 года назад +29

      Gustavo lays out all the points around he difference between the lifts. only think I will add is when you are looking at lifts jut compare them like for like. What I mean by that is Eddie, on all the gear he wants for as long as he wants and never comes off it, also using figure of 8 straps to hold onto the bar. Blaine is tested under Wada rules and yes you can say he can still take drugs and pass but its nothing like what eddie can do. also you can looking at a lifter that is not allowed to use straps to hold the bar. So really when you break it down the lifters are so far apart in what they are allowed to do and use its not even able to be compared to each other.

      @@devonhood so moving the weight 6 inches as opposed to say 24 inches does not increase the level of difficulty? Come on man. I’m guessing you’ve been training for years if you’re even watching this type of video. I never go heavy. Never have, but I’m 45 years old 6’1 230 and can bench 275 for 13-15 depending on the day. 225 for 20 is my second warm up set. I’m not saying that’s impressive, but I work out for looks, not strength. I’m moving the weight at least 20 inches. If I only moved it half as far I could do a lot more weight or a lot more reps. Anybody who works out understands that. Guys like Larry wheels who are lean and do full range of motion with heavy ass weight for reps, that’s impressive. Weighing 400 @ 30% bf and benching 600-700 for 1 that the weight moves 6 inches. That’s not impressive. That’s a walking heart attack. IMO. I guess we all have our goals and opinions.
