Hi Sir, now a days trackers are available, they will move the panels in east west direction so that panels are always parallel to the sun, results in 20~25% higher generation as compared to fixed tilt, some makes of tracker are Solargik (Israel), Nextracker, Scorpius, Gamechange solar

But he didn't told/clarified everything to us in details such as We Cannot Add More Number of Solar Panels If we want to increase the output is Because The Limited Capacity of the On-Grid Inverter is Fixed to either 5KW or 10KW or 20KW likewise, moreover We are not allowed to Increase the Production More than What we've made an Agreement with the Electricity Provider Company. Also, the Total Load or Max-Rated power sanctioned to the ENERGY METER provided by Electricity Department plays an important role for Commercial or Industrial or Home Use. Therefore, at the end If Your Connection is On-Grid then there are a lot of Limitations and Restrictions on how much kilowatt of rooftop solar plant you can install.

Hi Ranjit, Thank you for the video. I had a couple of questions.
    1) How long does it take to break even after investing in an in-house solar plant?
    2) Who are the best vendors in Hyderabad?
    3) Does the Telangana electricity board adjust the excessive units in the monthly bill after net metering?
    4) If the Solar panel completely takes care of my consumption, do I have to pay a minimum electricity bill to retain my connection from the government?
    5) What is the average life of a Solar panel/inverter/other connected equipment used in the solar plant?
    6) Does this require a quarterly or yearly service?
Appreciate your help and looking forward to these insights.

I think you should also talk about how load calculations need to be done roughly and how battery capacity needs to be chosen for ex: 100ah vs 150 ah and how backup time will be affected and such. This will ensure viewers are well educated and can make proper judgment on which inverter and battery to buy depending on their load needs.

1kw generates 4units per day and 5kw approx 20 units per day/year average. Coming to the battery how many wh needs for your home(power cut hrs and what load needs that time ex.75w fan*4=300w and uses 4hrs = 1200wh (1.2kwh or 1.2 units) so u need a battery including depth of discharge and autonomy all loses 1200wh*3.676/24(two batteries & also depend on inverter sizes) = 183.8ah ~180ah or 200ah

4:34 Dear Ranjit, why did you go with lead acid batteries? Their efficiency is only 50 percent and they emit H2 which is highly flammable specially in enclosed areas like your cabinet. These are only recommended for tight budget projects. A good LFP battery can easily serve for 20 years in stationary storage. Or maybe you've planned to switch to Lithium when these stop working?

Hi Ranjit, My question is that in an on-grid system, if in an area there are frequent power cuts then the system won't send electricity back to grid. Is there option of a hybrid sysytem which is on-grid (for net metering benefits) and also saves the power in the batteries when there are power cuts? Thankyou.

    1. What is the cost like (Approximate just to get an idea)
    2. How long the battery last.
    3. How long the panel lasts are they for the life time (like you mentioned 20 years, so they last for 20 years)
    4. Do solar panel degrade with time, like if its 500 watts do they produce 400 after 2 years.
    5. Will some panel just stop working suddenly. And if there is any way you get to know which panel stopped.
    6. Are you really making money with on grid system, like are you actually getting paid extra over your electricity bills.
    7. How many AC works with your off grid system.
    8. Does monsoon have any effects.

    3. Did you apply for a subsidy and how was your experience on that

    • @geekyranjit
      @geekyranjit  11 месяцев назад +10

Didn't opt for Hybrid coz our Society does not allow that, it has to be a strict on-grid with max capacity of 5Kva they have too many restrictions in our Society, also as it's a Pvt Gated Society we don't have any subsidy but if you have a Govt meter then you can opt for Subsidy and that differs from state to state.

@@geekyranjitif there is no govt meter then what is advantage of ongrid ??

    • @geekyranjit
      @geekyranjit  11 месяцев назад +16

For Pvt Big gated Society their is only 1 central Govt meter all individual meters are by the society and are net-metered and very high tech meters so they do track the extra electricty that we export (in-fact we have an app on our phone from that we can see the exported units in real time, so daily we get an idea how much power we consumed from the grid and how much was exported) so we do get the metering benefits but we can't avail any subsidy as our meter per house is a pvt meter. Large Gated Society have very different rules, also the electricity rate is also decided by our Society and not the Govt. The society indirectly pays the govt a fixed rate for elecricity.

    • @almondnine
      @almondnine 11 месяцев назад +1

    • @RanjitKumar
      @RanjitKumar 11 месяцев назад

@@almondnineFor off-grid system if you own the roof, no one can stop you as you are not exporting any electricity back to the grid or the society, it's a completely isolated system with different wiring, it's just like you are installing an inverter in your house they can't stop that, it's just that you are powering that inverter from Solar power. But yeah if it's an on-grid system you have to follow the limits as you are exporting back power to the society and the grid.

    2. how's your maintenance looking like

    4. what brand do you suggest if I want to go for hybrid systems, I looked into Luminous brand but I also saw a review where they mentioned it required constant repair and team was not so responsive
    5. What all extras do we need to purchase along with panels and inverters and what's their costing looks like (like steel stand, wires etc.,)

From what I have seen, the on grid system stops working if the grid doesn't have power.. This is a safety feature for personnel working on power lines.
The electricity board starts adding new maintenance charges that actually eat up into your savings..don't expect anything great from the net metering if it becomes negative also

2:50 All Passively cooled ongrid inverters must have at least 30cm clearance on the top and 30cm clearance sideways, 50cm clearance below the inverter and 50cm on the front. (Please check the user manual)
Since the Growatt inverter you are using only has heat sinks (no fans), therefore it require good ventilation.
Otherwise inverter will start derating (especially in summers) and and it’s components will be damaged. And sometimes whole unit may catch fire 🔥.
There are several videos on RUclips too
Must follow standard installation procedure of inverter otherwise it will overheat and 💥

PWM is actually a method to generate AC from DC by control of switches (Mosfet ot Thyristor) whereas MPPT is an algorithm to extract max power from the system in given conditions. Even those solar inverters that operate with MPPT could have PWM as control method for generating AC from DC.

      1) Why you're not using bifacial solar panel.
costlier and not worth extra price for 5-10% more generation
      2) What if, if we use battery with on grid solar panel for backup.
You can use normal inverter battery but that won't be charged by solar actually, you'll be using grid power to charge it and on grid does not produce energy during power cut
      3) Is there any limit for using on grid system or we can use as many as we want?
The maximum solar you can install is same as your meter load. Residential meters are capped at 20kW load so max you can install is 20kW. In most cases, you won't have a big enough roof on residential property to have 20kW solar but thats what the rule says.
      4) Tell about lithium-ion battery is it worth it or not?
Only if you live in rural area with more power cut hour than power available hours
      5) Right now which type of solar panel technology is most efficient & which company have it?

    2. If someone buys an on grid, will the power from grid auto connect whenever the sun sets or on cloudy days?

Hi Ranjeet, I also installed and activated an on-grid solar system of 3.2 Kw capacity in Bengaluru in Feb this year, I got the MPPT inverter of 4Kw from the EPC company. They actually tried to push the Enphase microinverters to me, but it didn't fit my budget and also the efficiency gain of those didn't feel like good investment. They have been working above my expectations or calculations and I installed it without subsidy because if you buy with subsidy the rate the DISCOM pays you for exported units goes down, in the long run I would make better returns by not opting for the subsidy. Plus I can avoid chasing the EPC/government to get the subsidy if it doesn't happens to come in time.
I just have three questions, how often do to clean it and how, do you have any tools or Excel sheets as to see what returns It's generating, if you took an AMC from the EPC vendor, what's the charges?

I haven't taken any AMC, I was not Cleaning the planels eaier as every 10 odd days we were having rains, but now we are having a dry spell, so good idea to clean every 3 odd weeks. I noticed a improvement of about 4-5% after the panels are cleaned. I have ordered a new Cleaning brush that has water outlets, will get it delivered next week so that should make the Cleaning job a lot easier.
But if you don't clean them often it's okay, as in our old setup we didn't clean for 6 months just noticed a drop of 7-8% generation.

Basically you need to pull last 12 month bills and sum total units and divide by 12
If that value is 400, you need 4kw. If it's 500, you need 5kw and so on

What is your opinion on using Lithium iron phosphate batteries...vs lead acid that needs top up of acid and less Max power draw?
    Also lithium has longer life..
Cost is more..so is it worth it?
    Looking forward to part 2...
    And part 3.. about maintenance

simple formula for selecting a solar system type(varies case by case):
    1) If you are facing extreme power cuts go for offgrid system.
    2) If you are facing less frequent power cuts go for a hybrid system.
    3) If you have little to no power cuts go for ongrid system.
Also if you have a higher budget go for Lithium ION battery packs for hybrid or offgrid system. They usually come with a 10 year warranty and 25 year life span.

Hey ranjit! What about hybrid ones? My ques is the excess energy generated should go to the grid which is on grid but at the same time can we save those energy in batteries before it goes to the grid(so that we can use it when the power is cut)
1.panel to our use + charge batteries first
    And then
    2.can it go the grids?
    Is this possible??
    Pls answer ranjit!!!

Hello Ranjit Sir, first of all thankyou for making this series to educate your viewers.
So my ques is, as you own a nexon ev, do you use your solar system to charge it up ? if you do then the power is taken from the on grid or the off grid system, i have heard ev charging takes up a lot of power, is a solar system capable of delivering that amount of power ?
    Thankyou

It's my own independent house, with my own terrace so yeah they do allow but in our gated society we can put a max of 5Kva for On-grid system. If you are in a flat then they will generally not give permission as terrace is considered a common area in flats.

one feedback, you spoke for like endless minutes, showing the setup without explaining what we need to understand from that setup.
may be try explaining that is off grid and what is on grid first, Give some context about the panel because to me both panel looked the same.
