Congrats! Huge day! Well done! Would be cool if each active squadron had a handful of these so pilots could get in flying hours on basic stuff when the fast jet airframes are otherwise occupied. USAF B-52 units used to do that years ago so co-pilots could get hours.
@Hornet the Hivewing so worth it- we do almost the same activities as army cadets but our lessons are on Air Force and we also do more raaf related activities. It helps towards joining the actual military as well Edit: I managed to go on 2 camps, fire my first rifle, read off the checklist in a plane for take off, landing, and mid flight, and a few other activities (all in my first year and shooting is not usually done in the first year) good luck bro
Just catching up with this now. Fantastic. The clarity and colour of the video was amazing. When you all lifted off for departure, it played with my head for a bit. Felt like I was moving for a second. Think the eyes and brain were disagreeing how to process the image. belated big congrats to you all.
I have a serious question, I understand that you get selected for Fast Jet Pilot (FJP) if you do well in No.2 flight school whilst training. I wanted to ask what these marks or the judgement is based off of? As of now I only believe it is based off of: -Night Flying -Formation Flying -General understanding of aviation and academic results I know that the RAAF channel might not respond, but if someone with experience could please tell me that would be amazing!
fast jet pilots who are selected will go to 79sqn on the hawk, then 76sqn, and then will start training on the jet they will fly for their careers, however fixed wing pilots (c-17s, c-130s, e-7s, p-8s, etc) go straight off to training on that specific platform
well it seems any chances I may have ever had of getting into RAAF pilot training are done, given my current age above the cut-off. But hopefully I can at least obtain a PPL and Aerobatic rating, not quite as amazing, but should still be awesome none the less.
I've got a question. Does anyone know what squadron these PC-21s are a part of? I've done a bit of research which is pointing to the 79th squadron, but it's still unclear because the insignia on the tail fins doesn't match up with what I've researched

One of the many reasons why I am going to join the RAAF. -AAFC cadet.
going to try to join. always have a back up plan

Well done to you all 👍👍👍 from an old ex-RAAF member.
Geat to have a video with no silly music.

Thanks for your service. 👍🏻
You are great!!! Best Regards from Switzerland.
Id love to hear a pilot instructor's view on the differences between the PC 21 and the PC 7 the 21 replaced
PC9, but yes 👍
@@doemacmonkey yeah that'd be great, as there is a great chance that my country (Slovenia) will replace our 9s with these
DCS graphics are really becoming life like! two thumbs up!

Very nice. That is the greatest job in the world. Where you all going, F-18's?

Sensational 👍🏻🇦🇺
This would be better with some cockpit audio

The age cutoff has been raised to 38 (roughly). Someone went through last year at 36. Never give up.
I'm 48 and just passed the pilot tests. Upper age limit on joining only limited by the ROSO.
@@GailIleswhats an ROSO ?

Nice machine compared to the beloved Macchi.
