  • Heres a bit of a look at a Chinese Diesel Heater I bought off EBay and fitted to our Track Star Omaroo forward fold camper trailer last winter.
    Super impressed with this thing. Its quiet, fuel efficient and effective!

    Interesting we have just started looking at these and would like to work out how to make it portable as we want something to heat both our Coaster and the camper trailer. I guess the main problem is making the holes for the inlet and exhaust.

    Great post. I have an Australian one that I brought cheap on gummtree its a snugger brand.
    I was told that I need to drawer in living air as the that's where the thermostat is.
    How do you go with yours in the side box as that was my plan.
    I really only wanted to drill one hole and not have a second to drawer fresh air in.
    Was just hoping the storage box would be enough.
    Cheers

    • @WildTouring
      @WildTouring  5 лет назад +3

      Thanks mate. Mine drawers air through from inside the camper in a round-about way. There's no ducting, but Ive drilled an extra hole through the box and fitted a blank vent so that as the unit sucks air in from within the side box it draws air through the blank vent. Hope that makes sense.

    Hi mate that was a great video,I notice the exhaust outlet is a small hole but you have a steel floor.But does the exhaust get very hot,if you fitted through the fiberglass floor of a van would you need the larger hole because or the heat thanks rgds Peter

    • @WildTouring
      @WildTouring  5 лет назад

      It does get hot. The unit sits on a steel plate (which is also the template to cut the holes), which would help dissipate some heat, but i reckon you would be fine cutting the hole a little larger as you said, and you could even wrap the outlet in heat tape if you were really concerned.

    Hey man, what about water ingress? I am dying to do this on my forward fold Black Series Patron but I am worried about water ingress into the cabin either through the drill holes or up the intake/exhaust. What experience have you had?

    • @WildTouring
      @WildTouring  3 года назад +2

      Never had an issue with water, the exhaust is lower than the unit so it would just run out anyway- be a different story if your got stuck with it fully submerged for a while though.

    • @WildTouring
      @WildTouring  4 года назад +1

      Havnt had a drama with fumes. But it's something to consider when you decide where to mount your exhaust. Seems to burn pretty clean once it's up to operating temp.

      @@daveo1559 I've had it for around 2 years now. Carbon monoxide is definitely a risk. Could fit a carbon monoxide alarm if you're concerned. Or fit it somewhere like I have so that you can open the external hatch while it's running.

    Whats the power usage like for the unit?

    • @WildTouring
      @WildTouring  5 лет назад

      Don't know exactly. But there's a noticeable voltage drop when I first turn it on, which will be the glow plugs heating up for ignition. But once it's running off compression then it's just the pump and the fan which would draw bugger all. The wiring on the harness is pretty light so can't be much!
