    It's so great how this game allows for so many different tastes in how we play games. I'm the most self indulgent gamer on the planet, where I don't have the skills or reflexes to be "good" at a game, but ToTK gives me the option to go and find the most powerful gear to buff my numbers enough to just muscle through harder fights. But it stills allows people who want to be underpowered, to go in and fight a Gleeok in their underwear with a stick from the start. I feel like BotW didn't give enough resources to make my playstyle much of a reality. But I appreciate how this game opens everything up so much more.

    Breath of the Wild was already an incredibly impressive and well designed game that provided a breathing, but decimated world and asked you to carve out a place for yourself in it and better it with your quest and gameplay. Tears of the Kingdom then gives you a living world wanting to be rebuilt, and giving you the freedom to rebuild it as you see fit, while still giving you that open air philosophy with completely open objectives. It does so while factoring in complaints people had with the prior game and integrating solutions to them in the most tactful way they could. It feels improved without sacrificing what got them here. Truly incredible.
    Somehow the Tears of the Kingdom team were able to iterate on a singularity game and created another singularity game that will significantly raise the bar for all future games. This game reiterates the technical mastery of the developers at Nintendo that are truly unparalleled in the rest of the game industry, with the ability to create the most wildly beautiful and impressive things out of technical limitations, eking every bit out of their specs. That's the hallmark of the upper echelon of art and programming skill and its proven in spades here.

Like obviously the magic of portal is a real contender, but the degree to which these puzzles feel like actual physical toy puzzles is actually unreal. I almost want to give just a LITTLE bit of credit to Matthew Stover, who wrote the novelization for "Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith," because almost everything in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom seems like the part about how the Jedi actually DO trust Anakin, because they've given up completely on telling him *HOW* to complete a mission, they just tell him what needs to be done and they KNOW that it'll be done... somehow. Whatever it takes. Anakin is speed-running the Clone Wars like those dudes that can just bend Breath of the Wild over their knee, fighting two Lynels and a Hinox while juggling three Lizal Tri-Forked Boomerangs, and parrying a Guardian from Jupiter, and accidentally finding two Koroks, etc.

    You just know that if another studio tries to bring this type of game out on the 2 big consoles and PC, it would be broken and full of bugs. Nintendo always make sure their games have as little issues as possible. You don't need a game to look photorealistic. What you need is Gameplay as your number 1 priority. Nintendo knows this and delivers. EA or Activision concentrate on microtransactions, before making games fun. Nintendo always puts fun as it's main focus. Other Devs and publishers, take note and give consumers quality. This is why Nintendo games are value for money, unlike "Redfall" , "Fallout 76" , "Anthem" , etc.

    This game fixes almost every issue that I had with Breath of the Wild. I hated the weapon degradation system, but with the fuse ability, it pretty much fixes that entirely. I still think the shrines aren't a proper substitute for actual dungeons, but the abilities this time are superior and much more interesting to use so I'm actually enjoying the shrines this time around. Literally the only couple of things I'd ding this game for is the poor performance (30fps, huge frame dips is gross), the combat could be better and also I hate that I have to unlock the map again, game is so huge that it really didn't need that mechanic back. Honestly, those issues I have are forgivable, because Incredible game is incredible.

    Most of the fights in Elden Ring were a janky slog. The boss fights, in particular, paled compared to Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Dark Souls 3. And the best boss fights were repeated, dilluting the experience. The mystical reindeer was amazing, and then I did it again. It felt lazy and pointless. The entire game is focused on combat, and the open world design reduced my excitement for the combat. The best areas were in the first half, ending with The Capital. The second half was bad.

    • @TheCaliforniaHP
      @TheCaliforniaHP Год назад

      Fair enough. I can't forget the jank. The entire game on combat is the one thing I'll give TOTK over on. Sure TOTK combat isn't as great but you can do more than fight everyone.

    I absolutely love this game. It's amazing BUT, this game looks terrible. The art style does hide a lot of the problems but there is ABSOLUTELY pop in. Zero textures on anything, it's one of the muddiest games I've ever seen. There is constant shimmering on everything in motion. The frame rate chugs to 20 FPS pretty consistently.
    I'm absolutely in love with this game however, it's time for new hardware. This game shows that very well.

    It's good to be back in this universe but sheesh.. this game has laziness written all over it..they literally just made botw 2.0 and not a new adventure. Even the graphics, music and most the combat is literally the same. They added sky islands and some new physics. Big woop. 🤦 6 out of 10. Sorry all the people that suck the teet of these lazy game developers. I know you'll hate me for being quite disappointed.

    My GOTY is still RE4 Remake, the only thing that could maybe change that is Final Fantasy 16. I didn't care for botw and I still don't care for Totk, I'm playing through it hoping it hits the highs Ocarina and Majora did but for me it hasn't yet. Hoping WW/TP HD Switch ports come out soon, if they're even real 😞
