    I am an INFj dating and ISFP. I know other ISFP's, including a real close friend in the past. ISFP's have some of the most honest, sincere hearts I've found on this planet.

    "ISFPs can get really charismatic and cute when they really like something." That is so true! My friend, Daniel has recently started learning to play the guitar, and it's practically all he talks about! He loves it so much and loves talking about it!

    My husband is an ISFP and I'm a INFJ, the smell thing made me crack up, and he's never afraid to say outloud how things look lol!!!! We stay home more weekends than not, except in Summer because it's prettier outside. He's got impeccable taste, an amazing artist, if he likes something he can tell you EVERYTHING about it. The rants are hilarious and sometimes annoying. Pumpkin carving takes him HOURS. He's very much a rule breaker i.e. currently doesn't have a driver's license.😕 We have oil burners, wax warmers, incense, room spray, and he owns more body spray than I do!😂 He let's me be me and our opinions are very similar or very different. We've been together 10 plus years and I love that I've finally discovered the Meyers Briggs and understand what works with our personalities!

    ISFP here... extremely aware in life! Born artist! Yes on the rants; we get overwhelmed at times with everyone's energy and need to let that energy out! Which is why exercise is very important! I am NOT a shopper, yuck! lol Interior design, yes! Physically (internally) aware of our bodies too. This world is exhausting - overstimulation on so many levels -- music is the respite!

    As an infj female I really like the isfp. They feel just as much emotions as the infj does (they just have trouble not drowning in it..like the infj but different). And they like to keep it real which is refreshing to an infj who is very much aware of people's true intentions (lies/manipulation). And they are in the moment when the infj gets lost in their heads a lot.
    I think they really work as a couple cause they are kinda a ying/yang couple balancing each other out. The weakness of the one is the strength of the other. The isfp is the tortured artist while the infj is his free shrink. We can help them process those emotions in a little bit more healthy way. But the infj can get lost in their heads (worrying about others) and needs someone to drag us back into reality. And the isfp is easily conned...the infj can watch out for that cause we can see it from a mile away. And we are a bit more organised and a planner with long term vision. But we forget to...well life....isfp is good with that.

      Skills take practice. Practice something you enjoy and forget about being good or the best. Good takes time, the best is for each to judge themselves. With the right approach any specific activity can be artistically done. And practiced as an art. Kungfu is an art, architecture is an art, music is an art, being a good friend can be an art too I'd suppose. So explore and find your art

    My sisters are an ENFP and an ISFP and I'm always surprised at how different they are. The ENFP gets super passionate and heated about politics and societal issues in general, but the ISFP is a lot more chill and just kind of like, "Well whatever happens, happens. I don't really care that much." And I personally relate a lot more to the ISFP perspective. There are a couple things that I have very passionate opinions on and would get into heated debates over, but most things I don't really care that much. I just wish people would stop fighting about everything, agree to disagree, and get along. But such is the life of a quiet Idealist like an INFJ.

      I'm OBSESSED with writing books and stories (but I'm 17 so they're not officially published yet) and I love art too so I'm a really stereotypical ISFP. My mum's an artist and illustrator so that could explain that. Oh and I LOVE CANDLES SO MUCH. I've got one in my room and I sniff it every day (no exaggeration), I think that ISFPs like myself, just really appreciate anything that compliments our senses, whether that's visually pleasing things, things that smell nice, things that taste nice, -- and even things that sound nice like wind chimes or particular music. XD But thank you so much for making this video, I think you gave a really accurate depiction on our type, probably because you knew two in your personal life, one being your mother :)

    I'm an ISFP-T and this video is true. Although, I choose to study computer systems as I am socially crippled from being an extreme introvert. Art and going through that schooling wouldn't be mentally possible. I always comment on smells and visual things. I explain my opinions and go on rants. I always have very good details on the things I enjoy and memorize. I've got tons of credit cards and buy random shoes and jackets just for the fun of it. I am very sympathetic and would never control someone else. I take online classes, go to work, and deal with my own bills, so I'm very independent, but simultaneously a huge procrastinator.

    I adore ISFPs! 3 (maybe even 4) of my close friends have been ISFPs (I'm an ENFP) and we really connect with our Fi, while their Se desire to explore actually complements my Ne very well. I tend to find some ESFPs quite overwhelming (although some have been great friends), but ISFPs provide the perfect balance, because although they are introverted they do love to get out and they can even push me to try new things and stop me from over analyzing everything, I mean its pretty easy to convince me. They are laid back and enjoy doing things on the whim, and they are super reliable when you need them. I understand what you mean by the smell thing, one old ISFP friend would always come over to my place and claim that my house never had a distinct smell like everyone else's. Of course every ISFP is different but my closest friend shares very similar values to myself and she loves to learn so we are constantly sharing the news, having environmental, social justice, political and scientific discussions. She loves to partake in so-called "intuitive"-like conversations, though she provides very balanced, realistic opinions, which is always needed and gets me to reconsider my opinions and consider alternative perspectives. Similarly my perspectives always expose her to different ways of seeing situations. She is also an ISFP that has a very minimalistic mindset (the way she was raised) who highly values education. This is very different from my INFP friendships, where we constantly move from tangent to tangent adding to the brew, which is very much like talking to someone who can read your mind.

Extremely picky when it comes to my relationships, to the point where I've only ever had two - One that lasted 5 years, and my current one. It just so happens that both of them are ISFPs. I don't particularly figure it's because I'm SUPER into ISFPs or something, if anything I'm more into ESTPs, but I've found that the kinda people I tend to be super into aren't always the best for me, while ISFPs have always been GOOD for me. :) ISFPs are lovely people, you can't argue with that!

    The "rants" are Fi-rants. FP's, especially IFP's, are prone to go on Fi rants if they feel that one of their values has been violated or if they otherwise have something they want to vent about. To a lesser extent, every Fi type does this, and maybe Fe's with a strong Fi (e.g. Sx 4's).
    Dario Nardi, the guy from UCLA who does brain scans of different mbti types, said that the INFP brain is typically open minded...until a value is crossed, at which point their open-mindedness shuts down like a fortress. I guess ISFP's are like that too.

    ISFP here, I make wooden bowls, juggle, make juggling videos, make parkour videos, write Rap's, play rugby, cycle, play badminton, play cricket, make random stacks of stones, am making an app as well as other strange things from time to time. I would describe my 'art' as more of passions that wax and wane (but never really leave) as opposed to a particular discipline that I have focused on I guess.
    I also feel that these passions are strongly linked by my passion for, what I perceive as, creative genius in some form. Not necessarily in my own creations although I do sometimes impress myself but in the study of the discipline as a whole. This means I have a similar passion and fascination for my favourite authors (eg. Tolkien) as I do for my favourite rappers (eg. Black Thought) and the best jugglers in the world (eg. Anthony Gatto, look him up he's sick) and others as well which gives me a really fun outlook on the world I think.

    I think this is pretty accurate. As an INFP, I really like ISFPs generally, we have loads in common, we share pretty much the same values, like authenticity, tollerance, etc. BUT we can easily frustrate each other too. Like sometimes I'd start talking about random ideas or thoughts I have, that are a bit "deeper" and maybe require some extra reflection,(or I admit sometimes I just spew out too many ideas at once so it can be hard to follow) and they just don't understand me fully. Whether it's political, philosophical etc. they just have no patience for it and therefore lose all interest. They care about practical stuff, things they can visualize, feel, touch etc. so when I'm talking abstractly (I'm not talking about fantasy stuff cos they love that, I mean abstract as in IDEAS, not concrete things) they have a real hard time following me and ultimately caring about what I'm saying lol, so that's bad for the both of us cos they're confused/annoyed or they think I'm being "pretentious" or a "smart-ass", and I feel like they don't give a shit about my ideas and/or I feel misunderstood lol. For example when I told my ISFP friend about MBTI she didn't want to know anything about it, she was really sceptic and was like "I dont believe you can put people into boxes" etc. and just ended the conversation when I was trying to explain it to her lol, so I gave up. Also they sometimes refuse to use logic (yes, sounds weird coming from an INFP but I'm actually stimulated by activities that require using logic, they seem to be drained by it for some reason). But I really love my ISFP friends anyway, they're so supportive and just very nice, kind, honest human beings.

      @01Mlandry  9 лет назад +9

      ***** yeah I have also experienced that when I discuss ideas and conceptual thoughts.It's harder for them to go there with me and they don't seem to enjoy it the way I do.

    • @sweetbratz16
      @sweetbratz16 9 лет назад +8

      ***** I've experienced the whole skepticism of mbti with some of my ISFP friends. I managed to convince my closest friend after months and a year after she still felt unsure. Two years later she actually enjoys discussing mbti. I think that she only started to gain interest in the subject after I had spent months simplifying everything for her and provided concrete examples. Its been great practice, because after her, I've been able to convince various other sensors of its applicability. In addition, she seemed to be more interested in the subject after exposing her to Dario Nardi's work. As a biology student the EEG scans really helped her see the concrete side to mbti. I agree that it can be hard for them to follow through with theoretical/ conceptual thoughts but I think that we should have the patience to translate our ideas into simplified information so they can provide feedback. We can often forget that they have their strenghts too. On the other hand, an old ISFP friend used to get annoyed with me and call me too "textbookish", which is funny because I just happen to be very analytical and would simply state my observations. I am an ENFP.

      @sunshinegirl1967 7 лет назад +20

      I deleted my previous reply because I don't think it came out right. I meant to say that ISFP's think deeply too but we just aren't very good with words, at least I'm not. We're more action oriented. I've noticed I find it really hard to teach others as I do an activity. For example, show someone how to change a central line dressing (I'm a nurse.) So it's either do it or explain it, but not do both at the same time. And really, I'd rather just do it than explain it. I get very frustrated trying to express myself especially if the feelings are really deep. Also it's hard for me to follow a complex set of ideas, so what looks like disinterest is probably me trying to follow along; so what's really happening is I'm getting lost keeping up with what the other person is saying. I like profound thoughts too but I tend to feel them rather than say them. Again, it's either experience it or talk about it, but not both at the same time. I guess that's really what I meant. Hope this helps!

    My mum is an ISFJ, I can confirm that ISFx's know so much stuff, my mum studied history and geography, and she often knows a lot of what is happening in politics or in global conflicts, etc. Very interesting to see that ISFPs show a more arty side in a similar respect.
    She definitely isn't a 'light' person to be around, we often clash on our opinions and conversations get rapidly intense when this happens - it takes a long time to explain my point of view; if I try to explain she can find it very confronting and doesn't want me to explain, or if I avoid explaining she takes it as an insult. You can't win with an ISFJ, Ne is her danger function and it's just so hard to get along if we disagree. She often doesn't get that I don't *really* want to know all of the details, or that I just want some time to lounge around without her pouncing on me to do something for her.

      Isfj and Isfp are very very different! I am an Isfp and my mom is Isfj. She is very very talented in planning, making everything perfect, and being strict to themselves. But Isfp is literally the opposite. Idle AF. Isfp's main function is Fi and Isfj's second function is Fe. That might be why we can.. look similar cuz.. we're both sensitive to feelings? But we're actually very different. Isfps are never bound to something like Isfj are. Isfps are seeking for freedom. Isfjs can often be very logical as you said as it's their third function. But Isfp is never a critical thinker. Isfp focuses more on their feeling, rather than the fact.

    INFJ here with ISFP mother. I've been studying them since she told me this and I could go on and on. 40 years with that woman, intimately (because as my mother she was and IS ALL up in my business), so I have many opinions and questions. Since I am INFJ and since I am her only child, watching her navigate life, how she influenced me, the good the bad and the ugly, so I feel like through my astute observation through the decades that I know her better than she knows herself. LOL! She would firmly disagree. We also butt heads like a couple of old goats. I was wondering if that is because she is my mother or if our types being THAT close and intimately connected set us up for function stack bumper cars. She is definitely loved by ALL.

    nope. you guys share 2 cognitive functions, Ni and Se (not just one). anyway INFJ's do usually get alone with ISFP's; sometimes these are called "suitemates". in fact, infj's can show isfp's how to use their ni and isfp's can teach infj's to use their se. in particular, when stressed, the isfp's can teach the infj's how to relax and forgive. to live in the present means not being depressed about the past or anxious about the future. and the other can be true as well, infj's can show isfp's how to be a little more scheduled. here's a fun fact: did you know that isfp's are close to intj's? they share the same 4 functions. in fact, an older or more developed intj will look like an isfp. want to know what a kind-hearted intj will look like? it's an isfp. likewise, an older isfp's will resemble an intj. this relationship between the intj and isfp is known as the "complementary" relationship. in a sense, there is an intj within the isfp and an isfp within the intj.

      Wow.. How smart are you? I am an Isfp and I have this Infj friend and learned sooo much from her. Actually, I have never been aware of the existence of my Ni function until I started living with her. She showed super amazing insights and the way she is being so sincere to other people has always been my motivation and also inspiration. And what I gave her is just like you said, relax, enjoy the present, and chill. We are both art students, so I often give her advice regarding color, perspective, composition, etc. We're very different from each other, but somehow we started to understand each other and enhance those weaknesses that we have by learning from each other.
      And about that Intj... I can relate to that sooo much. I have this Intj friend who is in the same group as that Infj friend, and technically we're very much different. But sometimes we are very similar. I'm pretty sure she feels the same thing. We know when another is having an awkward emotion. I think we're very different in terms of the main function, but like other functions are kind of corresponding. So we are mostly having a hard time fully understanding each other, but somehow we sort of have this relatable moment.

    Hey Melody - INTJ here. Love your videos. My mom is an ISFP as well, so is my boss. I can think of at least 7 ISFPs I've interacted with in my life.
    Mmm..commenting on "what looks good on you." I completely agree with this. There's a super distinct and unique opinion that always stems from Fi dominants. I feel like it's an independent feeling - a type of freedom. I actually really like this, whereas my ex who is an INFJ, and other Fe friends and family tend to come from the other side, by asking "how does this look on me?" when shopping, etc. I always found this Fe vs Fi comparison fascinating.
    Hahahaha rants. I'm going to say Fi can be stubborn at times. I'm stubborn, myself with my Fi. hmmm, the detailed recall of memory. I can't seem to relate to that with my exp with ISFPs. I'm glad I got this from your video. Come to think of it, I can't recall many Fe people in my life that have gone off on passionate rants.
    hmmm I'm really in perfumes...although Fi-Se and my 3rd and 4th.
    You're right about independence and freedom, and not wanting to control others. My boss would tell me what he'd like me to "build" or work on, but he won't be the type of boss that'll tell me how I should carry things out or come into my office to check on progress. He'll leave it up to me on how I get the job done, and he'll only check up if it's taking too long. Lots of freedom.

    I tend to get along well with ISFPs. Theres some underlying traits i feel we have in common, which probably is a result of sharing Ni and some Se. Theyre really adorable people and are very genuine, idk whom else can be themselves more than..well them.
    However there are some inevitable things i guess i nitpick (sorry) and cannot stand about the type. I cant talk to them about anything overly theoretical or deep, they get lost. And i get buzz killed. As for rants.. i dont think ive met or gotten close enough to ISFPs who would rant in front of me but i do feel that when they do, its for very.. stupid(?) reasons or overly subjective to their person. I guess maybe thats what you mean about being detailed... My ISFP friend often finds every possible reason to complain or critique food, while we go out a lot to eat, its not the most fun experience. I dont care much (inf Se?) as they do, they find something to compare in taste or looks and i guess my Fe absorbs that and it just sounds obnoxious, rude and unappreciative. Same with clothes. But i can say, ISFPs dress and eat well, they know what they like which i can find respect for. One other thing i have noticed is they will spend so much on sensory experience. $$$ on electronics or nice things in general, the next best or new thing-- they must have. And they are craving it if it resonates and suits their person. They really live in the moment, and it scares me sometimes LOL

    Hmm. I’m an intp and my father is an istj-
    And I think the synergy between isfp and infj : both have what the other needs and wants.
    My istj dad and I have a rather complicated relationship but my istj dad marvles at my voracious appetite for knowledge and I am impressed how he is a smooth operater. What I believe istjs are not willing to counterattack when there is a discord unlike intjs which I deplore!

Ego and si doms self critical and hold their selves to a high standard.

      I think the dynamic between istjs and intps are like isfps and infjs both needs to fill each other’s holes : they both wants what the other person has-
      Like isfps they are practical but yet creative and artistic and relaxed with others
      Infjs can be coiled up due to their crippling anxiety of how they come across to others.infjs can be less hands on.
      Infjs do have an artistic penchant but…..isfps push the boundaries with their unabashed evocative creative style and artistic talent… reflecting their sincerity.
      Of tangent but isfps are principled,they know how to suss up the rules and boundaries of others and they don’t defy the rules .
      Isfps really do make the world a safer place 💓
