Hi there. Firstly, since you will be full throttling, I do not recommend you to remove the governor or alter it. However, there is another way of gaining more power and throttle response. You will need to replace your piston with a larger one and also replace the valves with bigger ones. This will mean that you will need bigger carburettor jets. Alternatively, for more power, I would personally go for a 2 stroke, electric start engine that has higher revs. Good luck.
Great video! am doing a go kart and going to use a gx390 and i know removing the governor lets it rev higher but whats a limit for these engines? i know 3600 is what the run them at
Cool, thanks! I actually ended up open the case and removing the gear. The governor gear I think was causing some vibration as it wasn't spinning true on the shaft. Took out some broken pieces too. Got a mini tach to make sure I don't blow up the engine!
I dont understand how to governor arm would cause internal damage if you just left it installed as is and used the throttle linkage like you normally would. I did a dry fit after removing my governor and the shaft the governor sits on stops the swinging arm from hitting any gears, I did multiple dry turnovers this way and everything is perfectly fine. Im confused, it does not seem like you HAVE to remove that arm. Im trying to keep my throttle set up as close to OG as possible

Because in my opinion, in this case there is no other part to regulate the engine speed (maybe the limit of gas-exchange process). It wouldn't be necessary to install a new ignition coil/transistor to regulate the max. rpm with ignition-cut in a specified rpm (for example ~7000 rpm)? Thank you in advance!
if im not removing the governor in my engines.. so wheach to say the rpm of my engines stay in 3600rpm... in that case...my boat is running slow....i want my engines to be hi rpm..you said the only way is by romoving the governor control... but annyway tnx a lot to youre advice...
I’d give serious consideration to rather than putting a bolt in the governor hole, tap the hole and stick a short bolt straight in with some lock-tite. You double locked it, so I’m not worried. But I have seen people do it like you but put it upside down where the nut is inside. They didn’t even use lock tite or a lock nut. That’ll cause problems. Your install is perfectly fine just any space in the bolt and block will let water inside. Great job otherwise
If it's a 'turbo' engine, you will already have enough rpms so you must be careful not to blow the engine as I have mentioned in the video. It does work with the carburetor, you do not have to change it to injection.
so what is youre advice to me.. the better advice for my situation...i want my engines to get high ferpormance.. and more throttle response everytime i full the triger of my engines,, tnx and god bless..
@ shenperformance... i have ex40 robin subaru.. and i using in my pump boat in philippines,,,my maximum speed is 3600rpm.. if i removed the governor control in my engines there is possible increases the rpm of my engines?my other question is if im not removing the governor control,,, but im adjusted the governor plunger to clock wise...to just to not push the governor control.... its is also increases the rpm of my engines? iwhen the engines using in the pumpboat useually everytime in ful trotol

The govenor is set at 3600rpm and the power for that is usually displayed on the engine cover. You can just disconnect the arm but know that those gears are plastic and will break sometime in the future because you can reach 6000rpm now.

Instead of using a bolt to stop petrol from leaking you can use a vise-grip to squeeze the hose.

I have experienced both to be reliable and depends how you use them. They both do the same job but obviously Loncin is cheaper when purchasing new.

The procedure is the same on Honda engines except the governor is inside the engine (at the back). It would be a little bit more fiddly.

El motor sólo dañará si está en plena aceleración (todo el tiempo). Buena suerte y espero que esto responda a su pregunta

I just removed the governor, but when i try to start the rpms are to slow and if i move the choke, the engine turn off.
