Hi Bruce, thanks for your video. Got a question, Ive followed every part of this video except for removing the low idle screw. my 214 starts, idles and revs perfectly except for after about 10 minutes or so it stalls like it runs out of fuel. If I would play with the governor arm a bit or choke it it will come good but problem repeats. Then it will run great but pops a bit and threatens to stop like its running out of fuel. Ive also cleaned out the inline fuel filter and experimented with lower max revs and higher max revs and it seems to work but then after awhile the same problem repeats. So Im at a lost, do you have any idea of what it could be, governor spring perhaps, I don't know.?
I would be suspect of the coil. The heat up and then the expansion caused an open circuit. This video is from a honda 160 ruclips.net/video/GOIHpQ3Qryw/видео.html
Just before I go off to get a new coil, if I were to bump it by pushing the front and dropping it, it begins it's carry on like it's running out of fuel, but if I leave it idling it will run forever...does it still seem like the coil? Also with the popping etc when I go and play with the governor and choke, it settles eventually. I really don't know what else it could be?
Hi Bruce, I have ordered a new coil but in the meanwhile can you point me to the reason of why my carburetor is leaking out fuel, and could this also be or contribute to my cutting out issues?
I just bent it a tiny bit as I pulled it off. More of a torque motion on the vertical aluminium bar. Donyboy73 doesn't have this specific video I was just promoting his channel too. Just go for it. Remember it wasn't running very good when you started. I checked on you tube and thee aren't that many videos of this specific mower. Good luck .
Hey thanks for the quick reply. I actually took off two more screws from the same part of the machine where the third screw you point at 1:32 is at. It made the whole component loose enough so I ended up not having to bend it all. I'm not sure what the specific parts of the machines are called, sorry!
Hey Bruce, thanks for sharing, I enjoy watching your channel. It has even motivated me to get that old Briggs and Stratton I have in the shed and get it running again. I have no real clue of basic mechanics and thought that trying to get this motor running, might be a good start project. Do you have any 101 resources I could tap in to get me started, something I can follow along?? I've learned so much from your channel, but mostly it's given me motivation. Thanks!

12:18 what did you do to clean/rinse out the tank? My gas is low so I can see some junk in the bottom. Is it enough just to drain the gas? Not sure if it'll get rid of the stuff at the bottom
I know. they aren't as husky as the originals but they work well. Out here it is weeks wait for anything ordered on line. I am a 9 hour drive north of Helena Montana in Western Canada.
Great videos Bruce! One question. Have you ever come up against those pesky clips that Honda uses on their fuel lines? They're not the spring loaded type and they're a pain to get off or put back on. Here's a link to show you the kind I mean. www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Hose-Clamp/9500202080/1617401?ss=-x39353030323032303830 They're standard on the Honda mower, HRR216K4VXA. I'm looking to replace then on the fuel line running from the carb to the shut-off and from the shut-off to the fuel tank with the more traditional clamps. Or maybe there is a special tool to get them off. If there is, I can't find it, lol Thanks Bruce, love your videos.

+quadlinear I was impressed with the wheel drive system.
I'm having a hard time taking the choke rod(linkage) off. Can you explain how to do it? or tell me which video donyboy 73 does it in?
Those inlet valve seals are very easy to change, if you can find the procedure on here....
Right I should do a video on that. The next one i will. Great point.
What do you think using the ultrasonic parts cleaner instead of using carb cleaner?
I want one.
Thanks!
+Fernando Yáñez OK there are a few older Briggs with common problems This one is a newer (9 years) with an issue of a plugged carb. No parts required.ruclips.net/video/Gy--7hcBFpsT/видео.htmlhis one is donnyboys video if an older Briggs with the pulsaprime carb. You might be able to use carb cleaner onlyruclips.net/video/oV0XElj8-rk/видео.html

where did you get the lift...I want one!!!
This will explain it all.

I just got one for free, if my done the same what is a fair price to pay to get it fixed? Thanks
Well I can't answer that as it is a time thing. Some shops charge $25 an hour and some $110. There is usually a tune up involved too. So 2-3 hours + parts. filters, oil and more.
Thanks. I started working on it myself. I replaced the recoil on the pull start. I thinks I will get it going. I will let you know. Thanks
Very good.
I cleaned the carb, replaced the spark plug, air cleaner and got it running!!
Good for you. Honda carbs don't like dirt.
Bruce Did you buy or make that lift? If you bought it what brand is it?
This will explain it all a video of the lift.

Thank You.
another good one, bruce...
I found one identical on my local Craigslist for free ad said parts or repair I hope I can get my dad to let me go get it
Ask him nicely.
Bruce nice job thanks tom.
Nice explanation mate Good stuff ;-)
+Southpaw Davey You are too kind. I would like to keep some of these older ones.7
12:18 what did you do to clean/rinse out the tank? My gas is low so I can see some junk in the bottom. Is it enough just to drain the gas? Not sure if it'll get rid of the stuff at the bottom
I think on this one I turned it on its side. I sometimes put a rag in too.
I just did a couple vids on this exact mower, mine didn't smoke though
+hanksranger There are a lot of carb clean videos out there but this one is an older one so I thought I would do it.
Thanks for the video but you can buy a replacement carb for $15 now, no need to clean these anymore :)
I will clean a carb 3 times before I replace it but I don't work in a shop.
Where can I fine a maint. stand like?
This video shoes it all.

Ok. Didn't see how the emulsion tube goes in. Help!!
From 8:01 you can see how i remove it. The install is oppsite of course.
@@BrucesShop thank you. Love your videos!
Thanks. Overall, a good video. However, I watched it TWICE to see which way the emulsion tube went back in and I think you skipped that.
I may have. I do have a hard time including every step. I work totally alone on these videos.
👍Another mosquito killer survivor 😂We need a bunch of these mowers where I live as some of these blood suckers are HUGE 🦟 🦟
LOL Here too.
Amazon has lawnmower carberetors for 20 bucks.
I know. they aren't as husky as the originals but they work well. Out here it is weeks wait for anything ordered on line. I am a 9 hour drive north of Helena Montana in Western Canada.
I did all of that and it's not starting please help
It may need a valve adjustment.
Bruce Pender ok thanks
Bruce mine has that issue
Is this the Ed James I used to work with?
No I wish
I have a troybuilt with a Honda motor only runs with Choke on it slides has that white thing
Well give it a try Remember it is already broke so you can't break it. I have probably asked you that question before. (the work one)
Yup true true how I fix this thing
They don't make them like that any more.
So true Thanks
Donyboys the man
Great videos Bruce! One question. Have you ever come up against those pesky clips that Honda uses on their fuel lines? They're not the spring loaded type and they're a pain to get off or put back on. Here's a link to show you the kind I mean.
www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Hose-Clamp/9500202080/1617401?ss=-x39353030323032303830
They're standard on the Honda mower, HRR216K4VXA. I'm looking to replace then on the fuel line running from the carb to the shut-off and from the shut-off to the fuel tank with the more traditional clamps. Or maybe there is a special tool to get them off. If there is, I can't find it, lol
Thanks Bruce, love your videos.
Yes I use long needle nose pliers and pinch the little loops.
that is cool
Thanks
Thanks for the video great explanation 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You are so welcome.
